Thank God for this! I did SPSS over a decade ago! we used it for the British Crime survey and it's so good to see someone ACTUALLY giving up their time to teach the general public! this is well-needed thank you again!
Sorry to say, but if you have not studied statistics on university level, this course is just for nothing. Net is full of "besserwissers", who actually don't even understand what they are talking about. I suggest you buy a book, introducing statistical methods, then go to programs like SPSS, if you are still interested. Some math courses would not be bad also.
This is such an excellent video! I'm currently pursuing a short course in Statistics Applied to Research and found myself constantly bemused by how matter-of-factly everything seemed to be (granted, it's a minor, seven-session-long introductory course) and upon watching this video I feel so much more informed on all the possibilites and things I could do with the data I've gathered. Thanks, Dr. Poulson
Wasn't sure what to expect of SPSS after using Python for all of my work, but woah, totally impressed with it and I guess, it's mostly because of the way Dr. Poulson explained it! Going forward I'll be using both in some form or another! Thank you!
Thank you very much for this course! I have to use SPSS, but had almost no knowledge. This course helps a great deal with some of the most important questions I had.
Great video! I had some struggle with the syntax file, when it pops up and when to shift to other views or directly to analysis. For people like me it needs to be explained in more details, which might take just a few seconds . Will search for other vids on SPSS on the channel and subscribe definitely. Many thanks.
Lol, schools got to make sure they look like they’re doing a good job to their leaders and managers too. Don’t worry though they can’t stop every future Galileo 😆
Great tutorial! The reason why Newspaper and Response show mean that is unequal to the proportion of Yes is because their value equals 0 if Yes and 1 if No. A question, when you show the market share of the softwares, does Academic counts all disciplines (social/natural science) or only social science? Thank you!
@@ankitraj3180 I understand that. Thanks but It literally says in beginning of the video and it is one google search away. My point was freecodecamp shows us stuff we don’t know and makes you addicted to learning which is great because knowledge is power and you don’t know what you don’t know. So it is great.
I did statistical analysis using SPSS pre-windows, on a VAX Terminal. It was for a Behavioral Science class in college (BHS201/PSY500). All the commands had to be keyed in. No graphical user interface. Very tedious. I would get panic attacks.
If you are learning this you should just go learn R if at all possible. IBM sux so so much. If you have to pay for a package spend slightly more and get a proper package like JMP. Far more intuitive , user friendly, and most imp of all more powerful.
I downloaded spss version 28 but the syntax does not appear above the charts in the output page what should I do ? Or should I write the syntax my self ??
My campus lecturer promises to teach our class to do SPSS cuz we all dunno anything about it Now I already graduated without his SPSS lesson and learn from freecodecamp instead😂😂

Hats off to Dr. Poulson for not only making this course, but also making great-looking slides. Love the crisp fonts and massive text size.

i have a question can we do all this is Python or R.
with GPT it becomes easier ,
so why SPSS is required ?
i think this the first time i actually like to try the functions. SPSS made simple for real ! not a marketing gimmick
The only one computer science based channel which they start with quick introduction ❤️👍👏
Thank you for your well-planned, easy, and wonderful presentation.
This course is the best ever, and probably the GOAT. Much easier to watch and understand than my UNi professor's course. And its free;)

Thanks for the course Dr. Poulson. Regarding frequencies for response and newspaper subscription, the coding was interchanged, 0=Yes and 1=No.

SPSS is like TI calculators. It is forced on you by schools while bunch of other popular/efficient/easier tools exist.
What is it used for mostly? What kind of calculation/statistics, can you provide couple examples?
Lol, schools got to make sure they look like they’re doing a good job to their leaders and managers too. Don’t worry though they can’t stop every future Galileo 😆
SPSS is great for people who need simple statistical software. It is very limited, but enough for many researchers.
