The mean 11.185 will give the best representation of the central tendency in this case as it falls perfectly around the peak of the normal distribution curve which is the central part of the distribution.

Thats a good question. But why would you want to do that? Except if you don't want to define your variables correctly. It may not affect basic analysis that you do but will definately affect advanced analysis. Its good to clearly define your variables anytime you are working with data, to make sure the variables are properly defined so that you and anyone else who works or will work with the data can tell exactly what was measured, and how it was measured. Cynthia, You are a correct about the characteristics of mean but these are not the reasons for selecting a measure of central tendency. Mostly it has to do with the distribution of the data. If the data is normally distributed, you use the mean but if otherwise, you use the median or the mode. Now the question is, is the data normally distributed or not🤔
