I remember seeing a video someone did where they slowed down and modded the camera on Akuma's Demon to get rid of the black. He's actually performing a series of strikes to vital points that are all intended to be lethal hits.
Dramatic_Gaming so your saying they animated the demon, put that work in only to cover it up with the black screen, kind of sucks when you think about it, I know all the other demons are like this but to think the character model animates the attack instead of just impact effects on a black screen, I feel sorry for the animators who put the work in knowing nobody will see it unless modding the game
Shane Agnew not necessarily. Like the video shows, you still see flashes of Akuma hitting them in the dark and his red glowing eye zipping around. The Demon is supposed to be this scary, supernatural technique that burns the vitim's soul away, so the dark screen plays into that. If they just showed Akuma moving around really fast hitting his opponent, it'd be boring and take away from that fear.
@@Dramatic_Gaming Even before Sf5 actually showed us....its kinda implied he just beats you senseless before. I never got the whole "soul being destroyed" kind of thing.

The only way someone can use it is to give in to the Satsui no Hado, the dark part of one's soul; In contrast the most prominent people to have survived it are those who mastered Mu, the power of nothingness (a nod to enlightenment in Buddhism). Most depictions of the move also have 16 strikes, representative of the sixteen hells of Buddhism.
@@UnifiedEntity in the story both gen and gouken are said to have survived the raging demon by "clearing their souls". The raging demon attacks the soul of the person it is used on, each strike is infused with the satsui no hado.
It's still sad how some characters have full super animations on hit (like Cammy, Birdie, etc) while others just shoot a big projectile (Urine, Juri, etc) or have a single big hit (Balrog).
Some supers get no love :(

I love when Nash does his super on Abigail, the only way Nash could be looming over Abigail's shoulder like that is if he's standing on the tires hanging from the back of of Abigail's belt.

I suspect the limp voice acting is the real villain. Max doesn’t really single it out in his analyses (like “camerawork”, for example), but the voice acting is rarely bad in a good Super.
He HATES Falk so he's a little biased.
How did you forget about necalli’s CA during Vtrigger? And I feel G’s English voice is better with that CA.

Yeah, the Critical Arts barely impress me. I get that CAPCOM wanted SFV to a bit less over-the-top, but the style shouldn't have suffered so much. Personally, I can't count any of them as good outside of Akuma's Raging Demon.
That said, I'd really like to see you go for a Rate the Supers on Persona 4 Arena or Under Night In-Birth.
He did rate the Astral Finishers from BBTag so there is hope
Uniel had some of the worst Super's yeah very few we're good but most of the them were Gordeau level big build up followed by disappointment
Fun fact: If you watch the Raging Demon in super slow-mo you can actually see that every punch lands on a vital area of the body, it's essentially 30 killing blows. There's a video on UA-cam of it slowed down, check it out.
He kind of forgot about Necalli in V-trigger and Vega with his mask off. The former changes the super completely while the other changes it tone (maybe it's a stretch, but I like Vega enough to call that a difference).
Also, I'm just going to gripe about G not being judged with his English dubbing. LIGHT IT UP!

G's is one of the best supers ever im SF history, not only in sfv.
The english version is so much better and so badass with the "lit it up" + the 3 hits
the way i always thought Zangief's super went was he just flips you over and smashes you into the ground further and further. not 3 separate flips.

I realize Max has some sort of hatred for Vega, but his CA with the mask off is easily one of the best. A great super to me is how well it fits the character's personality, and Vega looking like he has hit pure ecstasy after eviscerating his opponent is an example of that.

Zangief's CA is a German bridging suplex. It's one of the most common and well-known suplex variants on the planet. Max showing his anti-nerd side.

I actually like SFV's supers over SFIV's for the brevity. Sometimes it was a bit like having Knights of the Round cast at you and realising you can go down to the pub, have some bangers and mash and a pint, play a few rounds of darts and come back home just in time to see the end of the super.

I will always hate the way they censored mika's super because of the slam at the end, it used to be a TAG MUSCLE BUSTER, but now its just two butts squishing a face and bringing it to the floor. seriously without mika and nadeshiko grabbing the legs, it just looks weak and not as painful.

These aren't the flashiest super ever, but a lot of them are pretty creative for what they have, and that's really nice.
Sagat's super looks really cool after a v-trigger 2 combo. You know, after lots of powerful kicks. He kick's you in half.
Damn neccali has a different super if you have v activated not much different but he gives one badass punch

I would've given it an even lower score than what Max gave it. It's nothing more than her special moves being chained together, and worse, in a way that just doesn't flow well.
