I really hope the stadium gets to 63,000. Would make it the 2nd biggest in England
Pretty happy we're staying put .
Also exciting times seeing that they will do to expand. Gonna take the best of the best in architectural skill to do it in such a way as to achieve expansion and maintain strawberry Place and the metro station etc.
Great video Eddie.

Have you watched the video I did recently about the Gallowgate extension illustration?
@@TynesideLife yh , another good video.
Excellent informative video like usual eddy, great work and research always done 👍
Quality video Eddie if at any point the owners expand the ground for example Gallowgate end then it would certainly help ease ticket demand on a match day ⚫️⚪️
Eddie brilliant news, your information and up to date news on our club is so important thanks again it's like Christmas everyday let's hope it lasts 👍👍👍👍👍
you're very welcome Mal
Excellent as ever Eddie and I agree wholeheartedly. With the news St James has been earmarked for the joint Euro bid it'll be interesting to see if any expansion will be fast tracked, and whether its been factored in with us being shortlisted and stadiums like Old Trafford not.
Great point Gaz 👍🏻
Our fans plan there while day out around the football match knowing they're heading to the city centre it is super convenient, that's what makes St James a special place(not the stadium but the location) and a great atmosphere. You leave at James and your literally right a home in the city with lots to do, I would hate to walk out of my home stadium and be in the middle of nowhere or a council or industrial estate and have to travel. I personally would attend less games if this was the case
Clear, precise, accurate, true 👍top informative video Eddy 👏

Good to meet you pre Man U Eddie and thanks again for the informative video about SJP and its development. HTL.
Great to meet you too Jamie 🤛🏻
That is so good to hear, truth is a very important word. Under the previous owner it was nothing but the truth and he must have created so much rot and despair in the club. My husband lived for a long time so close to the park it is one of the small carparks beside the building. He has been a lifelong fan, it is so wonderful to see the joy in his team reignited, he is 73 and is so proud of them. Move St James Park, never never.
Great message Laura thank you
Hi Laura I take it you support Newcastle united
Love your posts Eddie so factual, much appreciated ❤😊🙏
🙏
Dont forget Amanda and the Ruben brothers only own 20% of the club, if the Saudis want to build a new ground they will. Some fans would be disappointed if we moved but if another site became available in the city centre fans would accept the move
With respect bud, I don’t think you’ve watched the video mate. The three points weren’t opinions. I think you also misunderstand the running of the club. AS effectively drives the direction and management of the club, with Darren Eales and the commercial arm. The PIF are the Investors who take direction from those on the ground. I’ve included further reading links in the description.
Specifically point 3 (which is a fact in law) is in conflict with your view.
am buzzing to hear this news eddie loving your content bud keep up the good work😉

Great update on stadium l agree everything you have said about owners wanting to stay at St James park it would be a disaster if the moved the ground l just hope it can be increased by another 8/10 thousand in the near future? , anyway thanks again Eddie
I love where st james is now, you can see it for miles. I do wonder how spending hundreds of millions on updating stadiums and the training ground would effects ffp.
It doesn’t affect ffp bud. Money spent on infrastructure is separate 👍🏻

Only trouble is another 8000 will not satisfy the demand. I, along with thousands of others took a stand with a heavy heart and left to to try and dislodge Ashley. We can't get back in.
You may get back in when they expand the Gallowgate and SW corner 👍🏻

Great video eddie

Another great video Eddie. Completely agree that moving SJP outside would be ripping the soul out of the club/the city itself and so glad that the owners believe the same.
Are you heading to Wembley for the Heed FA Trophy match?
Yes I’ll be there 🤛🏻
Present and deliver. That will take St James' Park down easily I would expect. By that I simply mean if the fans don't want to allow a move of the ground but the owners can show the impact and that which it would deliver, it will move, it will be rebuilt elsewhere. It (we) will never change though, just a different place to park.
You misunderstand the new government directives bud. There’s an incumbent lawful obligation to seek approval from the majority of fans. The days have now gone whereby clubs can make these kinds of sweeping changes. It started this season. You can read the full report on the government website.
Our owners have also stressed that we’re staying, despite already knowing there would be higher demand. TRUST is crucial to them and they’re investing heavily in expansion.
Moving ain’t happening bud. I mentioned some further reading in the video and I’ve added the links in the description. 👍🏻

I’ll never forget the time when two youths out of the Metro station and asked “where’s St James’s Park mate?” I pointed over their heads and said “it’s right there.”
Being in the heart of the city is a key thing about the stadium and too many clubs move out chasing the money.
😂
The power of the ground is unmistakeable now. Everyone can see how soulless the big new premier league stadiums are, and that won't be lost on our owners. If we can expand SJP by another 10k or so then fantastic, the place will only get more intimidating and more of a draw for players, but we risk losing everything with a new ground.
There won’t be a new ground bud 👍🏻
@@TynesideLife And thank god for that, it was the one fear I had that could have soured me on the whole takeover. They know what they're doing.
The east stand is the biggest issue as it simply can't go back any further but it could still be rebuild with possibly two levels and the cantilever roof could go above some of the houses to match the roof on the rest of the stadium, the gallowgate end would be expensive to rebuild but this clearly won't be an issue due to infrastructure investment being outside the ffp and with modern construction building above the metro shouldn't be a major problem
Hi Barry, having studied this topic (National Heritage) a lot over the past year or so, studied local history and also doing guided tours, it's my firm view that there'll be no physical encroachment over Leazes Terrace. The reasons for this I cover in various articles I cover on my website and videos I do which can be found in the stadium expansion playlist.
Not least because St James St is even closer to the east Stand and they are private dwellings.
There could be an opportunity by clever engineers for a retractable stand that is only extended on match days.
Great content Eddie 👍👍
Thanks Lynne
Hi lynne
Every year it is like Christmas under our new owners. They have already provided us with SO MUCH JOY. I don't care what is under the raping paper. Because I know there doing there best. And that means everything to me. I'm happy were keeping SJP. All of the classic stadiums have heritage. And most of them have eveven bits. Heritage last forever. And the uneven bits are the best bits. I cant wait to see how it all turns out😊.
🤛🏻
It's all about 2030 and building the nufc brand, it will eventually make money for the PIF, not moving from St James Park any time soon, but do think long term agreement will be made and a super stadium built in the Leezes Park area with the current St Park demolished and a fantastic new Leezes Park built on the old ground, then everyone wins, we will have the best football stadium in the world in the city centre next to the bars and restaurants within access to transport links, and a fantastic new park and fans zone to walk through on the way to the new St James Park also giving the extra capacity for all them fans currently locked out of seeing the team we all love playing fantastic winning football.
Sorry Dave, but you have got the understanding of this completely wrong.
To understand why, I wrote an evidence based article that will help you understand the PIF, Vision 2030 (you misunderstand), environment, conservation, history, heritage etc.
If you’re a closed book on this then thanks for your comment. If you genuinely want to understand more, the link to read the article is in the description 👍🏻
Great news this.
I hope it never moves from St James Park but I feel you are clutching at the ‘no’ we are not moving to seriously. Just look at our government over the last few years, how many times have they gone back on their word. Buying the strawberry could be a possible bluff (you can see we tried) and come back and say it’s not possible to construct over gallowgate so only option is to move if the club is to progress. They can sell the whole lot in one lump. This is just a mad theory I hope but I’m keeping a very open mind. Let’s hope I’m making an apology like you in a few days time 😂👍🏻. Content is superb by the way
🙄 that’s just point 2 Steven. I hate to say it but I think you’ve been watching too much nonsense bud 😅

Great video, do you think (personal opinion) they will extend strawbery corner as well as Gallowgate? Not sure if has the same restrictions as the East stand

I don’t think they can by much due to the private dwellings directly behind but there may be some wriggle room
@@TynesideLife cheers Eddy, be interesting to see if the safe standing is a success and thats extended. Dortmund operate a 2:1 system per seat which increases capacity further. Although not sure that would happen
I fear that once the costs of adding another 10k seats to the Gallowgate End become apparent the owners might re-evaluate their position. It’ll be a new Stadium elsewhere or leave as is and double the price of season tickets.
Hi David, forgive me but your comment doesn't reflect the unequivocal evidence presented in the video that refutes and dismantles this popular but narrow view.
To understand the topic more fully, I have also written a couple of articles and the links are in the description.
Alreet eddy is there no chance of the east stand getting extended I no there listed buildings behind there but is there any other way???
Hi mate, I think the East Stand will be rebuilt to higher specifications and utilise safe standing. This will increase capacity a little. I don’t believe the footprint will increase due to the Grade I buildings but more importantly, because of St James’ Tce. These are closer to the stand and are private dwellings
Ok thanks mate 👍
Great video and factual as always. 🖤🤍
I think you are really hard of yourself about that video last year. I remember seeing the apology video and commenting that the apology wasn't needed.
I think the research and fact checking I last years video were exceptional. You used that research and your own knowledge and you made an educated (very educated) guess.
You might have turned out to be wrong. That's no crime mate. I know you've talked about being ASD in the past so I can understand that being wrong luke must have felt very embarrassing but you don't have to feel like that. You should be proud of the time and effort you put into your videos, even that one from last year.
To give you an example, imagine they go ahead with plans to expand the gallowgate and something is discovered that means not only can they not expand but they had to condemn St James'...under that rediculous circumstance they would have to move they stadium and I think the fans would understand why. That would make this video technically wrong but not in a way you could have predicted.
I think last years video made a lot of sence and on balance of probability I thought they'd move too. I was also wrong. Give yourself a break. You do fantastic work.
Appreciated Patrick thank you.
On the point of your example, it seems unlikely in the extreme that there will be complications of that significance. They’ll have carried out feasibility searches before buying the land, the land was going to be used for 4 tower blocks and don’t forget, in 2007, the Gallowgate had plans for expansion
@@TynesideLife I completely agree. I couldn't think of a better example that wasn't also something out of a disaster movie haha. But once again you showing you amazing knowledge on the subject. Just so long as the next time you are wrong about something you don't feel so bad about, I'll be happy.
@@PatrickStarfishman I don’t plan to be wrong twice 😅
@@TynesideLife I love that response. Good man.
Tbh this is best scenario there's not a better position. However really increasing the capacity is paramount and this can't be realised in the present scenario unless we have some incredible architect. If we had 80,000 it would likely be full and the owners know it.
Watch the video and fill me in on your views as to how to get around the three inescapable facts bud 👍🏻
@@TynesideLife I think you're on the button, money probably isn't an issue depending on what's decided by PIF it's down to the architects and their ingenuity/costs for significant expansion of the Gallowgate. I'm not for a move there's locations but the heart and soul would be gone, is that worth 15,000 seats ? Probably not.
@@DiscoverJesus the stadium isn’t moving so all is good 👍🏻
The Reuben Brothers relocating HMRC seemed to me that a new stadium in Longbenton was in the works.
Lee, love ya mate but please watch the video fully
@@LeeStewart you’ll need to elaborate then Lee as to how you circumvent the three inescapable facts in the video, as to why a new stadium won’t happen 😅
@@TynesideLife Just wishful thinking I suppose. I'd love to see Newcastle get a modern and bigger capacity stadium.
Agree with all of that, we're going nowhere and rightly so
With St James` Park being part of the euro 2028 bid this must mean that either:
a) any potential redevelopments of the ground would be completed before 2028
b) there would be no redevelopment of the ground until post 2028
How long do we think any redevelopment of say the Gallowgate end would take including planning, consultations, agreements, physical works etc....
Great message Stephen and it's my opinion that the owners would like to expedite the expansion of the Gallowgate and redevelopment of food and beverage kiosks within the ground. From my knowledge, work could start in around 2-3 years and be completed in time for the Euros (if selected)
Hi Eddy. Where do I find your blog article?

@@TynesideLife While talking about heritage assets, can you do a short video about how the Newcastle City Council decided (I think it was back in 2015) to demolish the historical 1970s accommodation flats in Richardson Road (Ricky Road) and construct new flats that were brought from overseas? We love SJP and delighted we are staying there.I never want to move. However , in the future , and with the words from Amanda that we will win the F A cup, League cup, champions league and Premier league then maybe we will have no choice if SJP cannot accomodate . Hopefully in future we maybe have more options to increase capacity.
It’ll never happen Paula - Thankfully.
It was always part of the plan to be a major force in European football, as they told us in the beginning. Despite this they declared we wouldn’t move, are about to invest heavily in expanding the Gallowgate and even if they changed their mind in the future, it’s not up to them.

What about a new multi tiered East Stand on hydraulics after the Gallowgate End is expanded. Same height as current stand when not in use to satisfy Leazes terrace right to light but raised on match day. Alternatively having a glass covered arcade incorporating part of Leazes terrace.
Great idea Michael for the first part but I’m negligibly certain the club wouldn’t get permission from the Culture Secretary for the second idea 👍🏻
@@TynesideLife Thanks Eddie, I'm sure there are people who could come up with some clever ideas. The East Stand has to come down at some point and there must be a solution to satisfy all parties. Your content is always interesting and well presented keep up the good work bonny lad. 👍
@@michaelsimpson2087 cheers Michael 👍🏻
I think Merhdad was neive saying that, but understand why he did say it. But eventually the owners will want the best stadium in Prem.
Thankfully the owners don’t get to decide if we relocate and clearly they knew they were going to buy the lease back when he said that last May.
I’m glad we won’t be moving
I'm sure local businesses wouldn't want NUFC to move out of the city centre either
I have always had an issue with the East stand! I know heritage is important. The East stand looks pathetic. Could we not just transfer those homes to leazers park ?😂 better view, no shadow from the East stand. I see homes hydrologically lifted and transferred a lot.I would love an exception to the rule.
In this instance, No is the short answer. It’s a massive Grade I listed building and history and heritage is far more important than a football stadium.
Secondly, KSA are not inclined to compromise the history of another country, nor splash out hundreds of millions needlessly. NUFC are an investment, not a bottomless pit of money.
Lastly, even if ignoring all that and it could be done. It doesn’t solve the bigger problem of St James Tce which are far closer to the stand and are private dwellings.
I think in a few years time the club will rebuild the East Stand to a higher specification, within the same footprint 👍🏻
Glad it’s staying on the hill it’s a focal point of the toon
63.000 thats a lot of fans not going to see any games.theres about 30.000 locked out and they think 10.000 is what we want only fans that dont want to move is those that have a season ticket. Stuff everone else
There’s a lot to pick apart in this comment Michael.
Firstly, this 30k figure of fans on some list is imaginary. There is no waiting list and someone made the figure up
The PIF aren’t motivated to ‘limit’ capacity. The PIF are motivated and WILL stay at St James’ Park for reasons that are explained in this video. A deeper understanding of this situation can be established by reading the link I’ve included in the description.
You misunderstand the motivations snd limitations of the PIF
By engaging with fans all the time, including those without season tickets, the majority value tradition and history over a new flat pak
Stadium.
4:39 he’s talking drivel. Or London.
Key to large club with large dreams… logistics logistics logistics
Can you clarify and elaborate please 👍🏻
We can sit and talk about this matter for hours but, ultimately, it's not about supporting the sport and the fans, is it? it's about making a greater profit. Well, that's not what football is all about. And even if they eventually move the stadium to a different location, what will they build in its place? another skyscraper? Another block of apartments? To house whom?
I think you misunderstand Bill. The stadium won’t move. That’s not an opinion
Please watch the full video and read the articles In the description for a fuller understanding 👍🏻

☝️
I'm not sure anyone can be sure of the future. Never say never would be my thoughts. If we became as big as the projection of the owners and a fan base that could continue to grow they may have to look for somewhere bigger (which you would hope would remain as close to the city centre as possible). In regards to heritage status they may well have to ask the fans for permission but the fans may be sold an even bigger dream than where we are currently. I certainly wouldn't bet my house on staying put for ever. 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤
I’d encourage you to watch the video Robbie as it cares no relation to some significant facts I’ve outlined 👍🏻
@@TynesideLife I've watched the videos Eddie. All I'm saying is at some point in the future plans could change, whether that be 20 years time or 50 years time. It's a bit like there is no guarantee of success under the new owners although we've got more hope now than before. I'm 52 now so I may well be dead by then but never say never.
@@robbiemurray4780 I think we can agree that nobody know the future Robbie 👍🏻
In context, what is clear and evidenced in the video is; our owners have no plans to relocate, they’ve told us we’re not moving, they’ve bought Strawberry Place for the long term expansion plans for St James’ Park and even if they wanted to relocate in the future, that’s a not a decision they can make (in law) without the majority approval of the fans.
Put it all together and it’s clear that we ain’t going anywhere - Thankfully
@@TynesideLife yep I get all that. You're assuming though that the majority of fans would block a move which I agree could happen. Equally the future progress of the club could make the owners and fans change their mind, the local population is ever increasing and demand could dictate looking at the options again. Maybe they can just relocate Leazes Terrace to Beamish and the problem would be solved 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤
@@robbiemurray4780 for context, I’m not an expert (clearly), but I study local history and geopolitics. I gather information from a wide range of sources including city plans for transport infrastructure, environment, culture, conservation and its long term sustainability. NCC has to do what’s best for 500,000 people, not just 50,000 football fans.
Of course, as I mentioned in the video, the owners bought the club knowing exactly what would happen if we become successful. This hasn’t come as a surprise snd the club now scrambling to think of ways to maximise capacity. It isn’t. They’ve told us what they’re going to do.
I did mention in the video too that I’d encourage some further reading on this as there is s lot more to understand and a lot of misunderstandings relating to the PIF. Moving, or demolishing Leazes Park is most certainly not going to happen Robbie. I can negligibly guarantee that. M
