Hey friends, I’m Mel and welcome to my kitchen. One of my favorite things about summer are the casual laid back dinners and cookouts. And as much as my family loves their old favorites that I’ve always made, I’ve really enjoyed trying all kinds of new recipes this summer. Tonight I wanted to share 6 of my new favorites with you. They’re delicious, quick and easy and perfect for a cookout but you might just find yourself making these all year long. And I’m sharing a great offer from ‪@radacutlery‬ that you don't want to miss!

Happy Sunday, sweet friends. Hope everyone is doing well and having a wonderful evening/ day. Thank you, everyone who has been praying for our daughter-in-law and granddaughter. Our granddaughter was born this past Tuesday. 7lbs 10 oz 19 3/ 4 long. They are home and doing well. Asking y'all to please pray for Alex, Letty's big little brother. He's having a hard time getting use to baby sister and finding out he's no longer the baby. We appreciate all the prayers for them.

I have a childhood story about Twinkies. When I was in 3rd grade, we were asked to write our 3 wishes for when we grew up. I wished for kindness, happiness, and a lifetime supply of Twinkies. I was pretty serious at the time so this created a lot of laughter from my teachers.

You are so smart in the kitchen. My momma was the best cook. I don’t think she ever made a bad meal. It was truly a gift. She had many gifts and common sense was one of them.
You are so right about trying a recipe exactly as it’s written, the first time making it. It’s just smart. I also think, it shows respect for the writer of the recipe. As a cook, have so much respect for recipe writers. I have written very few but can tell you it is a painstaking process and I love it. Your respect for everything and everyone, makes you an even better cook. You consider so many things that many, don’t think about. I’m proud of you and I see Jesus in you. I’m very thankful for you. ❤❤❤🙏

Eggs are boiled using 555 method in instant pot. Add equal parts mayo and Miracle whip (we don't have dukes here tho), a few squirts of brown or Dijon mustard, a sprinkle of pepper and a sprinkle of sazon Goya. Mash with a fork.. Never had pickles or relish with egg salad, but I have had green olives.

Hey Mel, I have not watched you long, but I have really loved some of your recipes. Everytime I see you scraping out a measuring cup, I think, she needs a measure cup from Pampered Chef like I have. You measure things like mayo and just push it out of the cup, they are amazing. They are a Measure all cup, because you can do liquids, dry ingredients, and moist ingredients all in the same measuring cup. I would send a picture if I could, but I don't know how. Anyway, I love watching your real food cooking and your opinion on what you cook. Thanks for keeping it real!!! 😊

When I first got my IP I used it for "boiling" eggs. Then I saw Tammy on Collard Valley Cooks here on UA-cam do it this way: Bring a pot of water to a boil and then add your eggs. Turn down just a little and boil for 12 minutes. Then soak in ice water for a few minutes. They peel very easy.

I do that too but follow Martha Stewart's extra tip of putting a handful (or couple Tbsp of salt in the water) & even with shells on that salt in the water somehow separates the shell like magic!

To me the burger you made was a Salisbury steak, without the gravy.I always make mine with just ground meat, salt, and pepper on the outside, but maybe I am wrong, perhaps most people make them with breadcrumbsThe dessert reminded me of an English triffle, cake spread with jam, soaked in sherry, then a layer of fruit, then custard, then whipped cream, some people use jello instead of alcohol to soak the cake.i don’t like the jello, because when it sets it makes the cake hard.Thank you for all the recipes.

Hi, I'm new to your channel, and am loving your content, I will be trying your hotdog marinade for sure, And also your pasta salad with the veggies. Could I possibly give you a quick fire tip on de-shelling your hard boiled eggs, Crack the shell once get a metal teaspoon under the shell and just spin the spoon under the shell around the boiled egg and its less messy. Usually the shell comes off in one or two pieces when i get the knack of it.

Hard boiled eggs: let eggs come to room temperature, then start them in cold water, bring to a boil...3 or 5mins
To peel, hit the egg on the bottom and roll it, peel under water to get under the film between the shell and the egg, the shell will slide right off

    • @InTheKitchenWithMommaMel

Not really, I actually like it better with the fresh strawberries and no syrup (and it keeps a little longer that way too). I looked up a recipe for making this with frozen since I had that on hand, it was still delicious but I just like it lighter with the fresh strawberries.

Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate you! Unfortunately the blue floral mixing bowls were from Sams Club a few years ago, they still make these sets with lots of new designs but not this exact one. I do have some similar ones linked in my Amazon storefront, 5 bowls all with lids and a non slip silicone ring on the bottom. They are very handy to mix and store in and pretty enough to serve in, too. Hope you find something you like just as well, here is the link to my Amazon and a link to what Sams has available now, too.
