I also love your authenticity - you'll admit if your family didn't care for a recipe, if it didn't turn out the way it was supposed to, if you tried doing it one way and it just didn't work out (like mixing your meatloaf in the same pan as your dish with aluminum foil at the bottom - did you ever get that meatloaf with grease drainer?, etc.) I feel like I'm learning alongside you sometime. great job on the desserts!!!!!! I actually prefer the oatmeal pie over pecan pie. I am not a fan of pecan pie but I do love the oatmeal pie. For the krispy treats, I always make them for Christmas. For a twist, though, I use fruity pebbles at Christmas. They are so colorful, and you will have people trying to guess what you used to make them. Do it the same way as always, just switch out the cereal. You can also use cocoa pebbles, but the fruity pebbles are really pretty on a Christmas cookie plate :)

Mel, I make the chocolate eclair dessert all the time. A lady that went to my grandma's church gave my granddaddy the recipe when she made it for a dessert for a bible study at her home. Also, I make my own chocolate sauce using cocoa.

When I make my Ritz Cracker Apple Pie I make a crumb topping for it instead of another pie crust.
I just made a Oatmeal Pie last week for my husbands coffee group I did put ground up nuts on the top since there are no nut allergies and it is very very much like pecan pie.

You know I have been subscribed for a few years but have had a hard time watching every Sunday. Well in June I had a major surgery that has had me down for the count. Funny story; I LOVE chocolate eclair dessert and a lady in our church made the best. One homecoming I brought me a cup home and set it in the fridge to enjoy after my well deserved nap. Imagine my surprise when I got out of bed and pulled my Dixie cup of eclair out of the fridge only to find it empty. My husband had ate every bite and put the empty cup back in the fridge. I can laugh now but it wasn’t funny then😂
Everything looked so delicious, especially the Chocolate Eclair Cake. I enjoy your videos so much and also you said you like to eat your dessert warm with no ice cream and that is how I like to eat Apple Pie. Thank you for another great video and we'll see you next time.

Hey Mel,my kids love rice krispie treats and the mock apple pie you made,my Mom,older sister and I made that pie which my older sister still does,we call it no apple apple pie and it really tastes like apples,we never used a lemon or cinnamon,i'm allergic to cinnamon,it's so easy to make,hope you have a blessed Monday,love ya friend!

Love oatmeal 🥧 pie. My recipe from my aunt was a little different but yours looks amazing. I can't wait to try it! 😋
I make a Pumpkin Dump Cake that is really Quick and Easy to Throw together as it takes fewer ingredients. This is my version.
Pumpkin Dump Cake
1 Spice Cake
15 oz can of pure pumpkin
2 eggs
1 can of sweetened condensed milk
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
12 Tbsp Butter
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup pecans, optional
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 9x13 pan. In bowl mix pumpkin, condensed milk, eggs, vanilla and pumpkin pie spice. Pour into prepared pan. Top with dry Cake mix. Add the butter cut into cubes. Top with pecans if you want. I like to add them 1/2 way thru baking. Bake at 375 for 45 to 55 minutes. My daughter has a peanut allergy and Walnuts and Hazelnuts but she can eat pecans and almonds. .
We love Eclair Cake. We even make a Chocolate Mint Version at Xmas. We substitute chocolate Graham crackers, white chocolate pudding with 1 tsp peppermint extract and a few drops of green food coloring to the pudding. Everything else stays the same in the recipe. It makes a Chocolate Mint Eclair Cake that reminds me of Thin Mint Cookies.
Mel, you always know what to say and right when to say it. I was feeling some kinda way about something with my kid. But he is doing the best he can and we don't owe anybody an explanation. Thank you so much!

My mom always made rice crispy treats for Thanksgiving and Christmas. She would make them red and green for Christmas. There wasn't any leftover ones, but she usually left a few at home so we would have some the next day.

I know I’m over a month late to this video, but I wanted to say thank you for being kind about picky kids. I have a 7 year old son that is picky about flavor and texture, and my husband and I said years ago that so long as he’s eating, growing, and he’s healthy, we’re not going to fight with him about food. We get alot of criticism for it, but I just don’t have it in me to force someone to eat something they find unpleasant, just for the sake of variety. It’s refreshing to hear another mother say it, rather than cast judgement. Thank you.
You're so welcomed, I feel exactly like the same way. One of my daughters was born very premature and had lots of texture and sensory issues - and people that have never dealt with these things just DO NOT understand in the least how it is. And you know, as adults, we don't eat what we don't like do we.... why make our kids. I say follow the advice and recommendations of their pediatrician, NOT the general public 😉 And I'm proud to say that today, 18 years later, my picky eater loves all different kinds of food and will try new foods all the time. Because she has learned from experience that if she doesn't like something, she doesn't HAVE to eat it 👍

I have a question, Mrs. Mel....have you ever heard of/made a peach crisp? Like apple crisp but with peaches. I don't really like apple anything, but peaches are my favorite fruit. I was just wondering if it could be done and would it be good? Thank you 😊💜
Oh yes! I've had peach crisp, it's delicious. But I've never made one. I think peaches and apples can pretty much be interchanged in anything 😋
