This one is the cut.....the deepest, nastiest of deep Led Zeppelin cuts that no one talks about and no one cares about but it's about as hard and dirty and loose as it gets for Zep. I love it.
That for me was the most unexpected highlight of the show. Presence is still ( as are all) a favorite, that still gets it turn on the platter (turntable) in my home. Checkout Roberts’ first two solo albums. Killers as well.
This song is Robert's growing sarcastic cynicism with the LA cocaine/drug scene. He said it was a dig at someone he knew and cared about and how they were getting deeper and deeper into drugs (no, not Jimmy, those references come later). It's in the lyrics; "And she said, 'Don't you want it, don't you want cocaine, cocaine, cocaine?'" and later in the song when he sings "On the balance of a crystal, paying through your nose." you can hear a loud snorting sound. This is a very intense album where the cracks of dissatisfaction and disillusionment are really showing through.
I believe that Robert started trolling Jimmy in Physical Graffiti. Sick Again was a slam on the young groupie lifestyle Jimmy was deep into (Lori Maddox, Miss Pamela, etc), and there are at least 2 drug addiction-related songs on this album....obviously Jimmy was deep into his drug additions post-1975. In Through The Out Door is where Robert drops the veil and calls out Jimmy literally after Robert's son's death (Carouselambra: "Where was your helping? Where was your bow?"), but I think he was using thinly-veiled references for several years by then.
@@tektoniks_architects Actually, Miss Pamela is the same age as Robert, being only about a month younger and Robert loved all the GTOs, however, Lori and the others were another issue. I just figured I'd comment on them in their places and not get ahead of myself.
Henrietta I’ve caught up with you again. Absolutely, love your deep background. I wish you would put up your own channel. I know we’re both of a certain age (lol) where facts matter. You simply have the best insights out there. At least think about it. 👈 Regards 😎 Btw, I loved the “Celebration Day” performance of “For Your Life.” A nice surprise.
THE most overlooked Zep album. In 1976 this album was overshadowed by the likes of Aerosmith Rocks, Boston, Frampton Comes Alive, to name a few. That said, a powerhouse of top notch talent at their mature prime.
I really didn't care for this album when it came out because it seemed like a totally different sound for them. After I let it settle in it became my absolute favorite, the whole thing is a work of art.
Wow, I NEVER realized this song was thatthat good man!!! Dam, excellent song here!! Now one of my favorites from these guys. Thx Biz, yet again your reaction was great man!
This song is got such an awesome groove. Bonzo and Johnny and the man Jimi nailing it. Oooh and what’s his name Lol Robert with the great vocals. Absolutely phenomenal song this is legendary by the Zeppelin machine.
Keep going. The album only gets better. Very underrated. That’s because choosing the best Zeppelin albums is like choosing your favorite child-very difficult.
Yes, how good is Robert Plant when he doesn't have what are among the very greatest musicians ever behind him? Check his album The Principle Of Moments, particularly the tracks "I'm in the Mood" and "Big Log". Also, check out his work in The Honeydrippers!
I've said it before, I didn't appreciate this album when I first heard it. I bought it anyway because no Zep collection is complete without it. Having grown a little since, it now makes me sad to know this is (in my opinion) their apogee. I would've really liked to see where they could've gone had Bonham survived. Disclaimer: I am in no way disparaging the next album. The reason I fell in love with Zep is Fool In The Rain. I hope I'm wrong, but I dont think I will ever hear anything like them again in my lifetime.
Pl Plant was a big fan or female blues vocalists and that’s we learn to sing and Paige huge fan of blues guitar players Like Otis Rd., Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, Albert King BB King etc. patient also loved Celtic music in English folk music John Paul Jones loved Funk and blues dish and you could tell he listen to a hell of a James Brown in Bonham is just a crazy genius rock drummer who plays fairly straightforward for four beats but the way he uses his foot on the bass drum and the power on precision that he has is unlike anybody else. Every player in the span is equally responsible for the ultimate sound and not one of them Could be eliminated as they’ve are each critical
I thought this album awesome, it really shines Bonham & Page's awesome playing skills , Even though both were snorting Heroin (Reported) Bonham did drink a lot
It is in G minor pentatonic. Underrated album and a favorite of hard-core fans. This is a very heavy guitar record. This is probably the last album before they all got really into dark places with substances especially Jimmy page with his heroin addiction and John Bonham with his alcoholism. Achilles last stand has a lot of references to plants trip to Greece where he crashed his car and almost killed himself but fucked himself up pretty good. Sort of like Achilles last stand in Epic Poem by zHomer In the 2 part series about the war between Sparta and Troy the Iliad and the Odyssey it’s a reference to ancient Greek mythology a lot of plants songs are all references to Tolkien’s books author of the Lord of the rings trilogy. For your life is about Cocaine addiction. One part is The drug talking to you ‘do it if you want to” the other is then his conscience is talking to him “next stop’s is underground “ ( if you don’t stop you might end up a casualty. There is reference to free basing when he mentioned smoking it. References to promiscuous sex which goes hand in hand with the on tour groupie free love, drug fueled orgies that were a i look part of L.Z reality
I think the way you like lyrics and Robert plant singing You should look up his song I'm in the mood for a melody you'd probably like that and another one I think would be really interesting to watch you react to I just love to see the reaction the song gets out of you is Joe Walsh's ordinary average guy
This is definitely the most under rated album. It just rock's
This one is the cut.....the deepest, nastiest of deep Led Zeppelin cuts that no one talks about and no one cares about but it's about as hard and dirty and loose as it gets for Zep. I love it.
They absolutely kill this song at the 2007 Celebration Day reunion concert.
The only time they played it live!!
yup it was great
That for me was the most unexpected highlight of the show. Presence is still ( as are all) a favorite, that still gets it turn on the platter (turntable) in my home. Checkout Roberts’ first two solo albums. Killers as well.
Yep they played it for their 2nd track opener
Yep, I was there. One of my fave moments that night….
Yaay...there it is!Wait until you hear Nobody's Fault But Mine!
Achilles Last Stand.
It's a shame that you didn't hear as much of this played on the air as their earlier music.

Thank you HS - great insight!!!
In what songs does he start referencing Jimmy’s drug use?

THE most overlooked Zep album. In 1976 this album was overshadowed by the likes of Aerosmith Rocks, Boston, Frampton Comes Alive, to name a few. That said, a powerhouse of top notch talent at their mature prime.
I heard Plant wrote this for a friend who couldn't get off drugs
@@tonismith5745 I'm not saying it's wrong, but I've never heard that and I don't get that out of the lyrics at all.
@@tammieparrishmiller3669 well, I got the info from a D.J.
I just looked it up. It is true. 😃
Not to me!
I knew this album would get to you ..Bonham's drumming stands out for the best on this album ..

once in a lifetime band. My fav .

I like something different about it everytime I hear it
True, I just discovered the snorting sounds after the "balance of the crystal" lyrics!!!
Tremendous talent! One of they're best....

This is my favorite album. And yes they are all great.

This has always been my favorite album of theirs. They're all playing incredibly well, and Robert's lyrics were very intense.

Plant sang much if not all of this Presence album from in a wheelchair. Not bad..

“I think it was a cheat code to have Bonham and Page in the same band”. 😂😂😂 YES! Exactly… they had all the cheat codes!
GOD MODE: ACTIVATED
Git ya some of that!!!!

This song is about drug abuse / drugged out people in ones life.
" Lemon in your hand ". Don't think he got that classic reference from Zep 2.
Incredible lyrics! Btw, if you can't tell if she's faking it, then she's definitely fakin it! Trust me Biz!
Naw
Ain't feeling it
Just a bunch of noise to me
We all have our own taste I appreciate the honesty tho 🙌🏿
