Thank you for your efforts. Would be nice if you do a video on wearing men's swimwear, and whether to wear underwear with them or not. A lot of men get this wrong.
This content was definitely missing from youtube. Updating the older videos of this playlist and making new ones for other articles of clothing could never be a bad idea.
I'm a woman but I really like men's clothing cause it's more masculine and professional looking but the shirt is definitely a little too big for me. This video helps a ton, thank you!
I’ve come to the conclusion recently that almost everything needs to be tailored to fit you properly, with few exceptions. Especially for skinny lanky guys like me. Took me 30 years to realize this.
Had to re-fit my grandson's men's size Small aloha shirt because there were only men's sizes and he wears a size 12-14 boys. I was going to do the exact same things as you demonstrate but I don't think I would have done the sleeves correctly without these helpful tips. So thank you!!
As a man who did this will goodwill clothes i gotta go to school telling people my clothes was custom tailored. Not only that it made me feel rich since i made it fit.
Lol almost thats exactly me. 5’7” with 31 inch waist and 41 inch chest and thick ass neck. Anything off the rack where I can fasten the neck button is inevitably too baggy at the waist, too long at the hems and arms. Luckily, where I live, getting alterations from a tailor is cheap.
Antonio, I was just wondering about this! My shirts are great, but they are poochy at the waist. Nice work! And good choice on Thomas. I think he'll augment the channel nicely.
damn... I could have needed this Video like 7 or 8 years ago at my first job XD. Looking back at those times I dressed terribly bad... And I worked in Sales yikes.
Hi there! I was hoping to get some advice on tailoring my shirts. I'm a man with broad shoulders and a larger chest, but my hands are quite thin. Because of this, I often have to buy larger shirts, which means that I end up with too much material in the sleeves with "bat wings." I've been trying to find videos online that can show me how to remove this extra material, but most of them focus on removing material from the sides and the sleeves at the same time. Do you have any tips on how to tailor shirt sleeves specifically? Thank you!
It doesn't have to be a bespoke shirt worth hundreds of dollars, but a shirt from a tailor will make you feel silly for trying brand stuff that never fit.
That doesn't help when the shirt is made for someone with a 34" waist and I have a 30" waist. It is impossible (in the US, at least) to find button down shirts that fit properly. They either fit in the waist and are too tight in the chest/shoulders, or fit in the chest/shoulders but balloon at the waist.
So you can take off the shirt and then insert the sewing pins so when you make the stitches you can take the pin easily because the safety pin is more difficult to remove
@@hunterxsimple3821 hahaha of course it's not illegal but when you mark your clothing after you wear it when you proceed to take it off the sewing pin may fall
@@hunterxsimple3821 don't try this on your expensive clothes try it on something cheaper because you might not get the results you wanted and ruin something. If you have the money you can take it to a tailor but it can get pricey so do it on the clothes that worth it
Hi, I've got a question. In my case, my dress shirt got a good fit at my thorax but is a bit baggy by the stomach. In addition to this, the side hems are these double-layered fabric-thicker parts (No idea what they may be called), and this creates a problem. Because it would not look good to in the middle of the shirt go from these thicker double-stitched parts into a single stitch without layered fabric, so I'm just curious whether you have any tips for this scenario...
The seams you're talking about are either French seams or flat-felled seams. And you're right: NOBODY who wants to look professional would do this wretched "hack" (literally) to their dress shirts; they'll end up with a horrible mess of puckers and unprofessional-looking stitching. It is possible to apply shallow side- and back-darts to a dress shirt to take up the slack, but if you're not an experienced seamster, it's a really bad idea. (If you notice in the thumbnail, the shirt on the left is actually a couple sizes bigger than the "fixed" shirt. The shoulder seams are sloping off his shoulders, the sleeves are rucked up at the wrist, and -- of course -- the middle looks baggy. (This is actually a pretty aggravating video.)
Truly curious I commented this on the GG channel but no response what is your opinion on cropped trousers? Do you think they look bad or are just a short term thing? Honestly I don't think they look that bad as long as you don't overdo it and make them too high. I feel a couple inches from your normal length is still somewhat modest. My pants are normal length however I feel like my drawstring Seersucker pants could be a couple inches shorter because they look a bit sloppy not sure how to explain it but yeah a shorter look would be neater on those pairs. Last thing is season during the hotter months I don't think they look out of place.
GG pretty much covered the topic with their most recent video and pretty much boils down to a fad trying too hard. Maybe they work for you but it fits more on a more modern look than classic style.
@@CoverofWinter My regular pants are full length so no worries I'm just asking about my drawstring pants that I wear for lounging at home. They tend to look a bit sloppy at full length or perhaps I should just iron them instead of going for a cropped look? I understand where you're coming from though and I appreciate the insight. I think you misunderstood a little it's not my habit to wear cropped pants in general I'm just talking about my lounge pants if I should try an inch shorter or just iron them out so they look less wrinkly at the bottom.
@@CoverofWinter It does get a bit difficult I agree. Right now the lounge pants are also full length but maybe I could go an inch or 2 shorter next time unless theres a brand of seersucker drawstring pants that are high quality and wont wrinkle at the bottom but they tend to be very expensive just from browsing online. Anyway I'll figure something out thanks again!
Yeah... no. I just do the military cut. I'm not going to ruin my shirts with laziness of not going to a tailor and getting it done right if I'm altering the shirt.
It's very hard to use this method without the front button placket shifting off center from the navel. If you look carefully, this is your end result as well. Will it work underneath a suit jacket? Definitely.

Search a tailor for a tailor made shirt. Yes...the way things were done 50 and 100 years ago.

Likely wayyyy to late to be helpful, but it's a Brother CS6000i
something I like to do is flip the dress shirt over, unbutton the top and bottom button, then slide it on like a t shirt
How do you stop straight stitches snapping?
Wow. What a nice how to. Above me but damn this is so on.

Gonna buy a sewing machine
Did somebody try it out themselves? How did it turn_out? I'm thinking about trying this but I never sewed before
PRO TIP: Shirt stays.
They are like $15 and they hold your shirt in place perfectly.
