Here's a 📣 MUCH Better Version (2024) 📣 - ua-cam.com/video/nvEYUIhUQcQ/v-deo.html
This dude deserves all the love bro, he is teaching a skill I personally believe EVERYONE should know, tailoring is very overlooked in everyday clothing, people don’t understand how much more impact an outfit has when it’s properly tailored and if you learn it yourself YOU ARE SET FOR LIFE FOR FRESHNESS
Comments like THESE are what make it all worth it! You're spot on!
Just Found Your videos... I'm also a Dad that got tired of baggy off the rack clothes. The DryCleaners "tailoring " did only so much. And were off mark . Sooo, figured I'd teach myself via UA-cam. So far, made myself a few dress shirts 👕 that got me lots of compliments... and now growing my "tailoring " options via your videos. ▪︎. NEVER thought adding pleats in the back of a shirt.... but I see the possibilities and Like 👍 them
Man the quality and the humor of your videos have increased exponentially over the last couple years. Amazing work! Hope your channel continues to grow.
Hey thanks man! I admittedly didn’t know what I was doing before and it shows
I finally tried this on an overly large shirt. Didnt try darts though. I was happy enough with the results to try a few more. I think the pinning/wearing/repinning cycle is key. My shirt flared out a bit too much at the bottom so next time I pin more aggressively at that part of the shirt. Thank SD for giving me the motivation for trying this!
I have to say, your video was the best one I’ve seen on this subject. I’ve sewn for years, but don’t have experience with men’s wear. Now, at 74 years old, I’m taking in alterations. This is one in great demand. Thank you for this very detailed video. It helped me so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Oh man, let me tell you that I'm totally into tailoring clothes for my kids. But I never had the courage to tailor my badly fitting shirts. But your video makes it look so easy. I guess I'll give it a try! Thank you so very much. And thank you too for giving other guys (like me) the courage to tell others that they love tailoring. That is not yet a matter of course these days.
Heck yeah man you got this, definitely give it a shot! And you're very welcome!
This is the type of the videos I am looking for! Down to basics and a ball of energy!! Loves it!
What amazing energy and thorough instructions! I have so many button-up shirts that I'm going to use this on. Finally, I'll wear them as opposed to just having them decorate a closet!
Thank you for this video. You explained things step-by-step straightfowardly. Love it.
You are so welcome!
Been using your t-shirt tutorial. Finished 12 t-shirts, then came across four shirts that are too big for me. Looked at this video and just tailored one of the shirts, and it came out perfect first time.... THANK YOU MATE! You've saved me £££s taking these to the local tailor (who never does what you ask)!
Heck yeah this was awesome to read!!
Dude your energy is so infectious. Really cool
I appreciate that!
@@StylishDTailors my man
Question: if you want to both taper and shorten a shirt, which part do you do first?
I would shorten it first so you can get the length without being obstructed by the slimmer sides.
I have been watching your videos for the past few days non stop after work till I go to bed.
I am picking up my sewing machine tomorrow and I am going learn to tailor the $hit out of everything I have. I have lost a good 45 pounds over quarantine and already ill fitting shits fit even worse now.
You are amazing, and I thank you.
Umm that weight loss is AMAZING! What was your secret??
@@StylishDTailors Eating less, aiming for twice a day and honestly its sometimes once a day. Drinking less soda, less sugar and strategic weed usage.
Your videos are great! They have taught me so much. I really appreciate how you don't do long, rambling intros. And I love the added humor! :) I have a question about how to shorten curved hems on shirts (like the shirt hem in this video). I browsed through your videos and didn't see any offhand. Could you point me in the right direction? Thank you!
Thanks for the kind words! And I’m actually gonna put together a video for that specific issue. In the mean time you can email me at Hello@stylishdtailors.com for some help!
@@StylishDTailors You are too kind! Thank you! Looking forward to the video as well!😁
I love this video, but one thing I think was overlooked was, if you take in the sides and want a tight fit, don't make it as tight as you normally would because the darts are going to make it even tighter. Could be a good idea to even start out with the darts...
Darts really make a difference, I slimed my dress shirts but I have that little bagginess right in my lower back despite the shirt being tight and slim, I'll be doing darts next time around.
That's exactly the same shape I want to do my shirts. Kind of a tapered hourglass.
And something that I could also wear untucked and still look good.
Very nice, I hemmed up the length of all my dress shirts.
Now they all serve a dual purpose, looks professional tucked in.. Then when untucked, I look the best casual dresser and the shirt doesn't look like a dress =P
How is everything up in the northern suburbs? You changed your avatar by the way!
@@StylishDTailors A bit chilly. Had volleyball league last night, temps were in the 50's. Brrrr
Ha and yep, gotta change the thumbnail according to current events and not political views =D.
The 4 years I was Trump's thumbnail, got so many haters. Next 4 years will be pretty chill compared to that lol.
Thanks for the vids, I know they take a crap ton to edit, especially at this level of quality. See you in the next vid!
You rock dude!!
Awesome video man! thanks! You have a knack for explaining things clearly and concisely.
Hey thanks for the kind words!
I need to try this as I have two shirts that I bought a little too big... perfect opportunity.
Let us know how it goes!
Hola amigo , tienes un video ajustando un casaca de invierno ?
No lo hago porque hace más calor donde estoy, pero probablemente haré uno más cerca de la temporada de otoño.
Question if I may about armpits: if I was to go over at 50 degrees and then tighten up the arms as well, is there a risk that I get that too tight fit when you push two arms forward?
It could get too tight yes, so use caution!
I don't need to sew anything, but here I am. 👌
The great thing is how these techniques also work with hand stitching.
Great video, love the humour!
Greate video…would it be beneficial to try on the shirt inside out then pin it,instead of pinning then re pinning…..
Yup you could definitely do that
I'm subscribed, great work I lost 60 pounds and need to do this, I have a machine. Can't spend a fortune to have someone else do this.
Congrats on the weight loss!!
With an 18" neck and 34/35 arms, my dress shirts are always baggy because they're made for fat guys. I have a 36" waist , but my dress shirts are XXL..
This is exactly what I've been looking for!
I hear you! Those are my sizes as well! I call our people the TRex Necks!
In order for an off the rack shirt to fit us in the body, it's impossible for it to button at the neck. Now it won't cost an arm and a leg to pay for tailoring a proper fitting shirt! I hate the baggy shirt look and the last time I got a dress shirt tailored, the sleeves came out too tight in the forearms so I had to suck it up since the wedding was so close.
How do you put pins in your shirt and not get poked or have them fall out
That’s the neat part…you don’t!
For real though it’s actually pretty easy to use them and have them not poke you.
Buttons - fella ! Consider the BUTTONS ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Stylish D I need some help, how can I hem a dress shirt
Working on that now actually!
Mr. Stylish D, I have a thick neck thats about 17.5 inches. Every 17.5 neck and 34/35 arm length shirt does not fit my shoulders, and I have a lot of fabric in my stomach area.
How can I adjust a shirts shoulder position beforr I trim the sides?
It’s possible but not easy for those who aren’t experienced, I’ll see if I can put something together for ya
@@StylishDTailors a video on adjusting the shoulder position would be awesome
@@jayguti9658 do you need it to go up or down?
@@sewingmistakesunlimited I need the shoulder point to go downwards and towards the center of the shirt.
Great video thank you ! Is it (humanly) possible to do the same tayloring thing but with keeping the same seam style than the original (this kind of paralel double line of stitches on multiple layers/folds of the jointing front and back pieces of fabric) ? Thank you !
Yup it's called a flat felled seam and it's definitely possible to keep it! Made a tutorial on it for ya!
Thanks, you rock!
Hi stylish d. Could you please make a video on how to remove a box pleat from the back of a shirt ?
Ehh there isn't an easy way unfortunately
8:07 Hahaha it was like I was looking at a mirror
Can you show how to shorten dress shirt sleeves? If you need to slim your sleeves odds are they're also too long, making it bunch up on your forearm..
Good point, I'll look into it for ya
Thank you for your videos ! What brand of thread do you recommend?
anything you can find at Walmart to be honest, at least when you’re starting out
Coats and clark
Can I take a dart out of shirt if I gained a little weight in the middle.
Most definitely!
SD now we need a video on how to tailor formal trousers too! Love from India 🇮🇳✌️❤️
Coming soon!
@@StylishDTailors Yaaay!
@10:30 the words on the screen say to "leave machine on Straight Stitch", however aren't you supposed to be using the Zig Zag stitch at this stage?Setting the stitch width applies to the Zig Zag stitch, not the straight stitch?
Correct the stitch width refers to the zigzag stitch, good catch!
@Stylish_D Great. Thank you for confirming its the zig zag stitch that you use to finish the ends. Cheers.
Job well done !
Don't for get they poke the snot out of you when you try the fit of your shirt. Ouch! And for us guys who don't have a small waste ? And if we suck at this you have some training videos you can share for a small fee ?
Have you made videos on Tailoring OCP uniform at all? The army always gives new soldiers clothing that is too big.
Nope but that's a GREAT idea!!
@@StylishDTailors it would be much appreciated, once I see it I’ll let my fellow soldiers know!
Where would be the best place to get one I can try it on?
If you’re gunna do just one version, do the standard set because that’s the one that the army issues and is to big. Has chest pockets. Hot weathers do not have chest pockets.
Are plastic surgeons technically just tailors for humans? Anyways great video SD and great music choice 👍😎
I’m totally using that!
@@StylishDTailors Yessss please do!!!! 😁😂😂
love it thanks mr d
You are very welcome!
Time for Stylish D!!!
Great video
that snow bunny joke caught me off guard lmao im dead
Hahaha!!
Any machine with "top dead center" in its vernacular is fine by me ;). Men sew too!
Классное видео, сам иногда подживаю одежду под себя, удобно

Instead of a dress shirt that looks like a dress.🥴
Great channel. Thank you so much!
