How I made my Samsonite rhythm unit. It has been evolving over the years to it's present form. The next thing is to develop an easy on/off cymbal mount.
WOW....from all the fancy stuff others bragged about on UA-cam, i surely love this one the most...plain, simple and easy....and even with a better sound than the others....
Thanks. The license helps the brush sound keep up with the bass pedal when playing acoustic. Some folks like a tambourine but that’s not the sound I was going for
Well done sir! Very logical design, sounds really good, and the video is very informative, Thank you for posing this. I look forward to making something very similar sometime soon. Happy jamming!
I used to have a Pickin Parlor sticker. Great little place. That and the Podium. Good idea on the suitcase drum---may have to try that with this new slide way of playing (stupid hands:) well done
I know what you mean, I'm getting a touch of the arthritis my self. The Picking Parlor and Podium are still around but the Podium had to move when development took most of the block including Al's Breakfast
I love your suitcase drum setup. Very nice rig! Maybe you could consider using Dunlop metal fingerpicks to increase the volume of the guitar. Hugs to you! : )
Deirdre Ryan Thanks -I usually play a resonator guitar that is is loud enough to frighten small children but for this video I grabbed a recently purchased recording king parlor guitar that is much quieter. I was curious to hear it from the front.
It's an old Sampsonite from a yard sale years ago. It's about 20 inches wide and so when I put it on it's side it's a comfortable chair height. It had what I wanted - comfort and plywood sides
Thanks. I checked out the SALGOs. They sound good. I keep thinking I should build a rig from some kids electric drum pads but thinking is all I've done so far
Almost. I put a T-nut behind license plate for a small cymbal. It worked but never used it live. Easier to use the internal mic without the plate. Just EQ for the brush and there will still be plenty of bass thump.
+Princess Bulaclac Thanks I have wanted to try that sometime but have not. I think it should work but might need some modifications. I have seen pedals made for cajon but they are beyond my budget. My suitcase is quarter inch plywood so I think of it as a goofy looking cajon.

I have the same suitcase! The license plate sounds great.nice touch!

that guy is a badass
He's a jug band instrument-making wizard!
Well done! I like this setup best of all that I've seen so far.

Super impressive and practical!
Thanks, it works for me
Genius 😎. Great video
Nice set up . sounds great
Five stars from Canada. When you drop it down and it's ready to go it's like something from the Transformers movie.
Thanks. I wanted a bit of show.
Props. That was pretty entertaining!

Really cool idea! I'm sharing this. My dad plays guitar and he's also a foot thumper while playing. I'm his drummer. I gotta show him this.
That's how this got started. Just trying to make what I was already doing a bit louder
Thanks! It was very intresting...
I have the same case looking to modify and this is awesome! I love the plate to help the brush. Sounds great.
Thanks. I hope this is helpful.
So do I ! I've just bought the 2 pedals and I'm eager to begin the transformation.
Thank you so much, i'll let you know how mine turns out.

Samsonite, I was way off.
What is the little green ball exactly? I might have to switch my regular beater to something like that.
I use a foam rubber ball I get at the Dollar Store in a 3 pack. This years model has a globe printed on it. Last year was Star Wars
dude love the elderly sticker!
They are a great company
Awesome
Thanks
oh yeah, nice! country style ~ yoley yoley👍👍
Cool video! What suitcase did you use? I've been looking into something like this.
It's an old Sampsonite from a yard sale years ago. It's about 20 inches wide and so when I put it on it's side it's a comfortable chair height. It had what I wanted - comfort and plywood sides
Looks and sounds good, have you seen the new SALGO foot drum plus, foot stomp, with 300 sounds ?
Thanks. I checked out the SALGOs. They sound good. I keep thinking I should build a rig from some kids electric drum pads but thinking is all I've done so far
Thank you for this great idea and craft work you shared ! Did you finally develop the easy on/off cymbal mount as intended...?
Almost. I put a T-nut behind license plate for a small cymbal. It worked but never used it live.
Easier to use the internal mic without the plate. Just EQ for the brush and there will still be plenty of bass thump.
@@leejohnson332 Thanks a lot for your answer :) The T-Nut is a good idea too.
Hell yea
do you think those pedals can work on a cajon? I really wanna play guitar while still playing the cajon
+Princess Bulaclac Thanks
I have wanted to try that sometime but have not. I think it should work
but might need some modifications. I have seen pedals made for cajon but
they are beyond my budget. My suitcase is quarter inch plywood so I
think of it as a goofy looking cajon.
+Colorblind Johnson I was just wondering what kind of pedals are you using?
the one that I use I feel it hits the suitcase too hard I feel
A friend of mine plays on his cajon with pedals like these, but he changed the beater for a softer one, specially made for cajons.
Fuck yeah🤘🏻
Yeah !
Thanks for watching
Thanks for sharing
can i buy one
I am not building or selling these
Maybe when I retire
Nice!
Nice!
