Nah, being able to play the 3D doesn't justify having those ugly shades of red. Besides, I heard that the VB's Wario Land its super short anyway, so it wouldn't even be worth it.
@@julianx2rl I’m sure they could add color to make it more visually appealing, there are virtual boy emulators that change the color and playing virtual boy games in black and white is so much better then that awful red and black, so there must be a way to add some color even it’s a small amount because it would go a long way to making them games playable
@@julianx2rl VB Wario Land goes for replayability over length, and it’s just a super solid game anyways. Plus they could’ve added color or at least gave a grayscale option, the Gameboy games gave you the option of grayscale and the green gameboy screen so there’s no reason why they couldn’t do it
For the longest time, that's what I had hoped they would do, with games like A Link to the Past and Super Metroid. I can definitely say those would have run on the 3DS without needing the New 3DS like the SNES Virtual Console did...
I owned Kirby's Adventure and Kid Icarus, and as you said, all those improvements made them the definitive versions to play. I personally wish StarTropics had received the same treatment.

Back when I got the Kirby 3d classic, I hadn't realized that they removed the slowdown from the NES version (I have both). That's really cool now that it's been brought to my attention.
Please keep the 3ds content coming! I find myself coming back to the 3ds more often than my switch and it's videos like these that keep bringing me back.
Great video. I only had one of these downloaded on the 3DS but I am going to download them all right now. Keep up the great videos about the 3DS, there are so many great or unique games only found on the platform.
Wow, Jon, thank you so much for talking about these games, they deserve the attention! Your content is so enjoyable, you have breathed new life into this channel!!!
LOVE the 3D Classics. I got myself the triple pack with all the Sega 3D releases that was only released in Japan (or well, the first and third volume only released physically there) and M2 went above and beyond with those! Great stuff! Also, next to the GBA remake, this really is the definitive way to play Kirby's Adventure!
I got excite bike when it first came out because it was free for a while, and Kid Icarus was a preorder bonus for Uprising. I’ve been eyeing the rest just to have them, so yeah might download the full set!
These were amazing. If I had to pick another game to get the 3D classics treatment, Metroid would definitely be the one who needed it the most. And I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
@RockManLP_Reviews I speak as someone who loves Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland, and the improvements that game made compared to the original are great, and I will play it anyday. However, the 3D classic port on the 3DS is still a fantastic game to play, better then the original NES version, and I would play that aswell. Sp wouldn't it make sense to have a much more polished, less glitchy, and possibly better looking version of the original NES Metroid?
One thing worth noting is how with Excitebike when you move the 3D slider it actually shifts the view and the whole angle of the game, it's not just adding 3D but changing the camera and the game underneath. It's super cool. It looks like Jon recorded this with 3D on.
I absolutely love content like this. Can you guys do a video of must play or unique DS games for the Wii U. I heard that Animal Crossing Wild World has amiibo functionality and wondering if the 2 Zelda DS games would be cool to play on the TV. Please make this video!
You missed to mention that Kid Icarus has improved controls., You could kinda glide and you could change your direction mid-jump. These were not possible in the original. (and many more little extra features) It definitely is the definitive version of the game
4:46 I don’t get it. Does Urban Champion get rereleased a lot? I found Excitebike was ported much more often, between the NES Classic, Famicom Classic, Classic NES series on GBA, E-Reader, and Animal Crossing. Am I forgetting anything? I did not take the Virtual Console into account.
Playing through Kirby's Adventure right now and it is SUBLIME. I'd describe the 3D effect as less overt than other games, but it adds so much beauty to the detailed backgrounds. The game is so much more fun without slowdown, and the entire thing feels more like a modern indie game than an NES title. Amazing port for anyone who still has their 3DS and probably an essential for Kirby fans.
I had Excitebike and Kid Icarus and they were both good games..Excitebike was one of my favorites as a kid on the NES and Kid Icarus I'd never played until Kid Icarus Uprising came to the 3DS..I never got to play Kirby's Adventure or any of the other games in the 3D Classics series, but it would be nice to see them come to the Switch
Yeah Kid Icarus’ 3D classics port really is the way to play that game. Black backgrounds are so so dull. It’s amazing how much just adding backgrounds adds to the atmosphere and to making levels feel different.
The best part is that I ended up with both Kid Icarus and Excitebike for free on my system, back when Nintendo was actually generous and did cool promotions like that. (I want to say that the former was a bonus that came with Kid Icarus Uprising, while the latter was either a Club Nintendo reward or Ambassador reward back when those were things, but I cannot exactly remember.) Though I must apologize for not actually financially supporting the series (sorry, I'm cheap, okay!) I can say the two titles I have are amazing. I never really cared for the NES original for either game tbh, but having these remastered versions at the handheld, with the impressive 3d effect, wide-screen, BGs, etc made me see them in a new light and really get into them.
Playing this series as a kid gave me a lifelong, inexplicable love for Urban Champion. I even ended up buying/playing the game on original hardware, lol. Long live Urban Champion
