@@melookingatthings3187 Me too. I hear a lot of negative comments about all the changes to this very well known pen and I think once it is out of production and hard to get people will appreciate how amazing it is to own one. I love that they added only 8 grams and it makes it feel so much better (5 to the body and 3 to the cap).
Can’t do a writing sample as I might change the nib from M to B and I need to find out if I Sam allowed to ink it or if this voids the exchange program.
@@melookingatthings3187good call, because I have heard of MB boutiques refusing exchanges on the basis of the customer not using a MB ink, even if they did use a MB ink.
Please give us an update when you have exchanged the nib. I believe that the Meisterstück 149 Origin is beautiful, tasteful, and timeless. Those who complain now about perceived flaws will seek out this model in the future with reverence.
Good news I got my nib replaced with an OBB nib it took around 4+ weeks but the result is very nice and I have to do another video with a writing example
Not really as I use them at home and in the office most of the time alone. I just enjoy Montblanc pens and how they write. I do buy specials for me to celebrate certain times and moments in my life 😀. What about you do you use them as status symbol and how do you do it?
I have the classic 145 green fountain pen,,,,,but only the clip has the look of a vintage feel,,the actual meisterstuck pen is a different design,,,,its a total strait pen with a bigger star logo,,secondly the packing looks very cheap when you compare it with the previous packing versions, ,it's a mere cardboard box,,,,,montblanc is degrading its brand by the mode of its box package,,cost cutting and we are paying heavy price for the pen,,,,regarding star walker fountain pen there is a design problem,, thread on the body is metal and thread inside the cap is resin because of this bottom of the cap cracks easily,,because thread on the body is metal and it dominates the resin thread in the cap and makes it to crack,,,,if it is a metal cap thread gets worn away and the cap rotates without a stop,,,,,,montblanc is loosing its reputation,,,this 100 years of meisterstuck edition is just a compromise,,,and it is not the original vintage design,,shame on montblanc
They're not what they used to be. With each generation they get uglier, less substantial and absurdly overpriced. You should see my Mont Blanc 149 Diplomat with 18 carat gold BB nib, which I bought at a stationary store in New York in 1978-79 for $280. Mont Blanc has grown too big for its pants. Go with Pelikan, Sailor, Pilot...
I like Pelikans but they went in the same direction as Montblanc and are insanely overpriced in the US. Japanese pens, on the other hand, are still quite affordable in the US, but overpriced in Europe.
Horrible defect in the new pen. What kind of masterpiece is that!? This is mass production crap. All these whoa!s omg!s are imaginary. The real pen is right there with the glaring huge defect and absolutely horrible colouring pattern. Seriously?
@@mrmf4712 Thanks. Rewatched the video. Hopefully this is an anomaly defect in the manufacturing process. How this got passed QC and shipped is the real question.
Very beautiful, love the new look of the iconic 149. The logo on the cap is laser engraved. Enjoy.
Thank you so much, I am loving the marbled cap more and more.

I have to agree. It’s going to be sought after as soon as time passes. Then it will be a classic as most changes are very tasteful.
So fascinating knowing the amount of time and effort that goes into each pen. Nice pen!
Thank you for your kind comment
😍
Beautiful pen. I wish I could afford a 149 or 146
Estou fascinada
Time Savings alert : no writing sample. Beautiful pen.

I just went to the boutique today and will swap for an OBB nib. Fits my writing style and is smooth but with line variation.
Hi, thanks for the video.
Where you able to replace the nib? I’m waiting on my, but I’m also thinking of replacing the nib, for a different size.

@@melookingatthings3187 Awesome!! is it engraved with the 100 years mark?
Eco friendly packaging = economic friendly packaging??
I really don't like the packaging for a 1000$+ pen, I think it's cheap. But they don't even sell an alternative anymore ....
Did you buy this pen as a status symbol?

No more nice black case. Montblanc is cutting corners

Please elaborate? Are you a Pelikan employee?
@@JoeGiz64 When you watch the video carefully, then you will see the defect in that new pen shipped to the customer!

The white stuff on the pen was glue which is very strange that this passed QC. The patterns are hit or miss you like them or hate them.
@@JoeGiz64 the Pen has no structural defect. Just coloring the pattern and some glue on the pen which is still strange. Otherwise perfect.
