Bought one for my son, yesterday. His Ba Ba also paid for his. My wife insists that it's mandatory for his elementary school. Although I believe it will last his time in elementary school, I think it shouldn't be made a mandatory item for all. Surely there's some kid out there that can't afford this type of equipment.
My son's school pictured it on their school supply list. But, to be honest, I can't read enough Japanese to see if the items on the list are suggestions. Anyway, I don't think my wife would be willing to go against the grain on the landoseru. Plus, her mom was nice enough to pay for it. I hear you on the lower price ones. I didn't see any cheaper ones at Itoyokado, where we bought my son's, but I saw another landoseru video where a girl got one for 8000 yen.
I could see an 8000 yen used randoseru being not too bad, but brand new for just 8000 yen will never last 6 years! I was still thinking of higher prices even for a cheap randoseru.
I have one of these that is second hand :) Even after 6 years use, it only had a small amount of superficial damage, and will probably last me at least as long on top of that. I love it dearly
Thanks for this feature on those really pretty bags. They might be expensive but il admit those bags just appear more timeless in design compared to the usual luxury bags.
LOL You're funny. :) I do agree that these are overly priced, but I'm sure your sweet daughter will consider hers as one of the best gifts Obaachan has ever gotten her. I have many memories that go along with mine, and I liked it so much that I am actually currently looking for one made for adults, which is how I came across your video! Thank you for the smiles♪
With all the stud work and everything, I think they actually looked quite ugly! And WAY too expensive! You have to be pretty serious about them to shell out that kind of money for a back pack! :) But thanks for showing me that! Never knew they existed. If I could find some in a store it would make an interesting video! :)
I don't wear my back packs down to my arse like many teenss do but we also have like the small kiddy packs with sponge bob or Ben10 or bat man which I used to wear a lot and no the straps are short as...but it didn't bother me :) im not that tall lol 166cm
worth every cent i paid 400 dollars for mine i got mine in 2002 still going strong a tad of wear but inside is fantastic i wear mine everyday and im 24 now lol
Could you message me the link? I'm trying to find it but can't. Saw a beautiful one for $120 or so lol! My Japanese reading isn't the best either especially with tons of kanji on the site. :s
@sparkuus the factory can produce up to 100 per day. I'm ebaying a used one for $70 cause I want one so bad lol! I really want a sky blue one but red is all I can find for 'cheap'.

From what I've been told it's not actually mandatory, but pretty much everyone buys one. There are cheaper randoserus too, but they're not too sturdy.

Lilya has now started her 4th year of using that Randoseru, and it's still holding up perfectly! Well made! (But I STILL think they're too expensive!)
Sparkuus how has the randoseru hold up until Now? 5 years later :)

You're welcome! Good luck finding an adult sized one! I've never see one that big. :)
I won't be buying any of these because they're not my style, but they exist!

I just bought 2 of these! One in red and one in navy blue. They're so cute! My sister uses the navy blue one to school now xD
That's nuts, I used the same 30 dollar jansport backpack from 6th grade until I graduated high school
What's nice is i got them both for roughly $70!
Jansport, does Japan know of this brand? Damn durable packs for $30-50 bucks. Mine lasted through 9 years of school and misadventures.
I don't know it myself, but that doesn't mean it's not in Japan somewhere.
No one will grief Ur bag cause it had lock
theyre expensive bec it is for kids until 3rd to4th i think and its light
They are all handmade that's why they cost so much :s

+karla beals And strong! 5 years on and it's in perfect condition.
6 years? those things will probably last you forever
no way, is that a UW engie jacket?
Math, not Engineering :) I'm a Mathie!
Haha, didn't expect to see a UW grad, while randomly watching videos about japan.
The jacket has been in a few videos, but not too many! I can only wear it a few months of the year here! :)
Where did you get them?
I got a pink one now! YAY!
The vicious bag makers are ripping off grandparents' pension money nationwide. I feel sorry for them.
To be fair, some people do keep their randoseru their whole lives! They are high quality! I sure don't have any of my school backpacks anymore!
