All I can imagine is pepa in a battle. Like, just imagine if one of her kids were in danger. You already know the stories of regular people lifting cars to save their kids, imagine that, BUT WITH HER
As shown in Antonio's room, he actually can control the animals he talks to, as the jaguar didn't attack any of the animals in the room, and none of the animals fled. Another thing, with how fast that jaguar got there, it must've been very close to the village already,.so being able to know a dangerous animal is around, and controlling it, is very useful in a jungle.
Soothing a raging beast before it can hurt the family? Definitely higher than Dolores. I’m sorry Dolores I love you to death but come on now. Also how is Dolores higher than Luisa?!?
I had thought of that possibility too, but I wonder if the animals can only understand Antonio. Therefore, their ability to eavesdrop on his behalf would be similar to someone listening to another language. They can try to remember and recreate the sounds (which animals would be limited in due to physiology) but it's also hard to remember sounds that mean nothing to you.
He can't "control" them he just tells them what to do and they listen, it's not like they are required to do it. So that tiger could just eat them right away.
@@BABS_SEED Its shorthand. Typically someone with animal communication can control those animals. Not like outright mind control but typically because animals minds are so primitive in comparison they are easily controlled to act beyond their nature so long as its part of the command given.
Or any Fire Emblem player. Seriously, healers are definitely one of the most important assets you could have, beside the character that you turn into a freakin powerhouse.
Depending on gameplay, you technically don't need a healer if you can tank the damage properly, at least for tabletop (online you definitely need a healer). Better to deal 2D6 damage than cast 1D6 heal if you can finish the battle and then take a long rest to heal to full health.
@@benwagner5089 Healing is however much better in the real world or settings where a long rest can't heal fatal damage. We can't really heal at all. We can only help the body heal itself.
I guess, now that you mentioned it, Isabella could do anything Luisa could do. A house could be lifted by a redwood growing under it, and vines can capture escaped donkeys. She can also do much of what Peppa's powers could eventually do -- eg regrow forests during droughts. And do you really need intel from supersonic hearing or shapeshifting if you can just...kill the enemy from afar by growing Nightshade directly into their stomach? The only person she can't really outperform is Julietta. Also, as a sidenote, another bad side of Antonio's powers is that he now can communicate directly with the animals they kill and eat. So his gift is less a blessing and more a curse, when you think about it. If he manages to convince everyone to stop eating his friends, they'll really need Isabella to grow them a village's worth of vegetarian options.
I mean, he has to accept the circle of life though. When the jaguar is threatening the rats he says “don’t eat those.” But his tone is extremely reminiscent of a mother telling her kid not to eat something they picked up off the ground because you don’t know where it’s been. It’s not the tone of “that’s atrocious” it’s “yo that’s gross.” He seems to accept that carnivores are gonna eat meat, that’s how they live. So I imagine he would fight hard for good treatment for his friends but wouldn’t push for worldwide vegetarians.
Perhaps Isabella couldn’t outperform Julietta, but perhaps she could grow medicinal herbs that could help heal some ills, if she were to learn enough about natural remedies in order to do that.
I don't think Dolores powers are a gift... They seem more like a curse to me... I already hear everything all the time, white noice doesn't exist to me and that's bad enough sometimes (thank god for my beloved headphones) but I can barely imagen that with SUPER HEARING
I think that Dolores should be on the bottom because with that insane hearing, she doesn't have a way to turn it down. And we know that Dolores can't turn her hearing down because in the scene with Antonio when the fireworks go off, you can actually see her covering her ears. So someone that is simply talking next to her would be torture on her eardrums.
I would argue that the movie shows she must be able to turn it down, because if she can't, those fireworks would cause her to do much more than flinch. She wouldn't be able to leave her room or function around people speaking at normal volume. I don't think she can turn it all the way off, but there has to be some level of control there because you're right, it would be torture, and she'd go mad from it fairly quickly.
Based on the argument of helping others, then I agree with the list overall, especially with the top spots. However, Bruno's ability is potentially more useful because for instance with Mirabel's first prophecy, the future isn't always decided, it can go one of two ways and in those cases, knowing the options can help make the best decision. As for Dolores' power, I see several limitations to her ability. Yes, she could hear what is being discussed behind closed doors, but that relies on people actually speaking (what if they're communicating in writing?), and assuming she understands their languages.
"because for instance with Mirabel's first prophecy, the future isn't always decided, it can go one of two ways and in those cases" But does it though? The prophecy was undecided, not the future. The movie shows that Brunos prophecies do come true, but Isabella's prophecy relies entirely on Mirabel saving/restoring the miracle, unless you interpret the sequence of "What Else Can I Do?" as all that prophecy was talking about but that's not much of a "life of my dreams", that's just a moment.
One thing to support Pepa (even though I agree with her placement in the ranking), there are several X-Men stories where Storm's powers are also affected by her emotions. It's why she's always the one on the team that seems so aloof or detached, if she lets her emotions run as wild as the others, there's a decent chance that a looooooot of people die.
Agree, personally I think Doloras has more potential if she could handle it. Pepa is unstable to begin with I mean Brono could save more lives just by predicting the disasters pepa could cause.
It all comes down to if the prophecies can be changed. If that villager had switched to salads would he still have grown a gut? If they had fed that gold fish a few crumbs of Julieta's cooking would it have lived longer? If they cant be changed poor Bruno's power is a curse.
@@allenfogarty2384 we already know that at least some of them can be changed like the prophesy of the family collapsing had 2 ulternatives. One where it would collapse and one where it would not. That that future was changable.
@@nabinoorshahil2715 but it’s also known that specific prophecy was confusing and extremely unusual to Bruno to the point he figured people would just assume Mirabel was going to destroy everything instead of considering it having multiple outcomes.
On the question of Julietas powers, I think a reasonable explanation might be that the degree to which her food is healing is proportional to the time and energy she puts into it; as opposed to it being a binary in which the food is healing or non-healing. I always saw her power as being the ability to heal with love. So she can stand in the town square, handing out arepas to cure simple ailments and injuries, but if someone was seriously ill or hurt then she might actually cook them a proper meal. And a grain of rice would be lucky to heal a papercut. But I dont think the ability to scale up this power is particularly important, I dont think she needs to take the responsibility of healing all the world. Caring for her community is enough.
The simple fact is that we don't know how that gift works, so we can't really judge how or even if it scales based on time/effort. That said, judging how power scales from local community to global is ABSOLUTELY necessary in this context, because that is the entire criteria of the discussion. This isn't a question of responsibility or what they SHOULD be doing, but a ranking of what they COULD potentially do given a different role.
She does say to Mirabelle that she healed the cut on her hand with love. That’s the key, she expresses love with her cooking. We never see it work unless Julieta herself give the food to the patient, so maybe it’s not the cooking but the feeding that’s important.
Good catch. But still leaves pretty broad options for what that means. Does generic love for people count? Or does there need to be genuine affection as well? Does she need to directly pass the food, or does catering a large feast count? What if another cook does all the cooking except one small part, like sauce? What if she doesn't cook the food at all and just feeds someone something? So many questions!
For Bruno: couldn’t one argue that the Avengers only got that chance to kill thanks because doctor Strange saw that one future where they actually did it and therefore knew what needed to be done to get there? Then seeing the future would be actually the only thing that made it possible to kill thanks and would therefore make Bruno the strongest
Not at all. He isn't the time wizard you seem to think he is. Bruno can be killed. Rather easily I'd imagine. He wouldn't see it coming unless he actively sought it out, which quite frankly, I don't think he could. He can't manipulate time from the outside, only from the inside. And when he can see parts of the future, it seems extremely external and intangible. There's a difference between looking at something you understand and being shown something that you don't.
Genesis, the wife of Apocalypse from the X-men, is an omega level mutant. Her mutant ability, plant control. And this is in a culture that values combat a good bit, she won the seat of victory and most likely through combat. She was deffered to when battles were won, and only left because she was essentially exiled. Her replacement was her sister Isca, who's ability is literally that she cannot lose.
I think Antonio's ability is more than talking with animals - he also projects an aura of friendliness. Many of the animals in Antonio's resense aren't other animal or even other human friendly. Did any one else notice how the animals whi Antonio "talks" to are also friendly to the huans around him.
There are many dangerous things you can do with plants: carnivorous plants, deadly/poisonous plants, hallucinogenic plants, thorns/needles/spikes, and any combination of all of those. We saw Isabella make vines that can that punch, now imagine that those veins were also full of nightshade berries, poison ivy, and cactus needles.
Camilo's power has a lot of potential if he could turn into animals too, we already know he can do partial transformations because he shapeshifts his head into a babies head by accident when the power starts to fade. If he can turn parts of his bodies into certain animals then you have a Beastboy or Envy situation which is very strong and extremely versatile. Also I agree with Bruno being in last place, his power gave me a Cassandra vibe from Greece Mythology, despite being about to see future events, it's rarely taken seriously and is often bad news or really obscure what the meaning is.
The ranking is reasonable if he can only do what we see in the movies. But there is a reason that shapeshifting is severely limited with most characters. Does he take on the physical abilities of someone he shapeshifts into? If so could he have super hearing or super strength based no his relatives? If he is injured can he shapeshift to heal himself? Can do turn into a floor or go through bars like the t-1000? All that said, I think by the idea that it still is limited in how well it can help other people would only move him a couple of places on the list.
@@andscifi I forgot to mention but his clothes change too, so he can change the material his clothes are made out of into other materials. So what happens if he shapeshifts into a rich king who's wearing expensive clothing, then he takes off those clothes and puts something else on, is that a free money exploit? I mean all this speculation hinges on whenever those clothes change back after a certain time limit or is it tied to when Camilo changes back. If not then he can create free matter.
I like the general vibe of this video. It's refreshing to view "Power" being who has the capability of doing the greatest amount of good and not just who could break the most stuff.
It just hit me: Bruno's visions may be inevitable, but without Mirabel seeing the rest of the vision, she never tries to reconcile with her sister ... and yes, I'm rewatching this after watching the latest theory, which expounds on that subject.
Delores could be life saving for being able to find survivors in natural disasters and in wreckage. She would make an excellent member for a search and rescue team.
Bruno's Gift represents insight, intuition and intellect. How can that be useless?? Actually it was Bruno's power that helped Mirabel save the magic in the movie. The whole point was that Bruno's Gift was not useless, it was just pathologized and twisted by the people around him. His power was rendered "useless" because of how the people in his universe REACTED to his Gift. They decided to dismiss it and him because they didn't want to face and to deal with reality, while a wiser crowd could have done a lot with his prophesies and the information they were given. You are basically seeing Bruno's Gift through the lens of those same people.
Camilo’s shapeshifting ability is undervalued, imo. I don’t think I have a good argument for putting it higher on this list, but that’s because I’m not sure of the limits of his power. Can he shape-shift into animals? Can he become the size of a house? Can he only mimic people he has met? We know he can change size, so depending on the limits of his size-shifting ability, he might be able to reproduce a lot of Luisa’s strength power. Also, his ability to comfort and inspire shouldn’t be underestimated. How much would most people pay to see their dead relatives, even have a faux play date? Can he replicate anyone’s fingerprints or DNA? Crime and medicine applications would be huge. Can he regrow lost appendages and instantly shape-shift away injuries? I’m sure there’s more, too.
Also, idk if we can tell from the movie but what if he turns into one of the family members with powers? Would he get those powers too or would it be just like an illusion or superficial type of change?
I think it’s more of an illusion due to when he turned into his sister he had no idea what Mirabel was talking about and he seemed extremely nervous. I think if he could take on the powers similarly to an empath then yes he could be the most powerful but from what I saw in the movie his illusions are more surface deep not on the same level as that as someone who could absorb powers similarly like Rogue from X-men and Peter from Heroes
@@johnpexton3614 That's not what illusion means. He's actually changing shape. He just doesn't get the magical part since that isn't a part of their bodies or shape. Its magic specifically added later.
I know they describe Antonio's power in the movie as the being able to talk to animals, but I would argue it's much more than that; they just don't know it yet because he only just got his power. Animals show up from all over as soon as his power is awakened. Why would ust being able to talk to animals summon them to him as soon as he gets his power? This (and the fact that they always do what he asks them to in the movie) makes me believe his power is less just being able to talk to animals and more the power to control them as some sort of "King of Beasts" or something. That seems pretty powerful to me.
We also know from Isabella that their powers can grow over time, so how much more control/reach/etc. will Antonio have when he is 10 yo? 20? and on the note of Luisa's strength, he could just command strong animals to do the job of the machinery but at a much larger scale than Luisa could
Cinema Therapy did a good bit on how the family’s powers were analogous to therapy techniques. Camilo represents mirroring, where you respond to a person’s behavior with similar behavior and questioning.
If we're ranking for potential to do good, this list is pretty good, though you're undervaluing Bruno for the reasons others have given. If we're ranking raw power, as in... what could a villain do with it? Then that changes the list dramatically and Camilo also shoots up for his ability to impersonate world leaders.
A, hermano's my favorite character here so I am interested in your point😅 B, That makes total sense. Probably would save the world leader idea for later and become some random terrorist first😖
The main reason Bruno's power is lacking is that nobody really does anything about what he foretells except worry or blame him or both. They do nothing to prepare. A warning can only benefit someone correctly if he/she responds correctly to it and the people in the village usually don't.
One thing about Antonio's power, I'm pretty sure he does have some amount of control or influence over animals, not just the ability to speak to them. After all a whole menagarie of animals come to him from the forest as soon as he gets his powers. That alone is more that just the ability to speak to them.
Just wanted to say that Luisa would be able to a major powerhouse in expansion. She would likely be the most accurate way to clear out literally anything. Terrain is something that is very hard for us to get around still. With her strength, she'd be able to turn even mountains into farmlands in more than likely a day or two.
And there is another, important, aspect to Luisa's power. When she picks up the church, she doesn't get driven into the ground from all the weight being focused on her feet. When she picks up the bridge by the corner, it doesn't break or shatter, like it should. It's like she has tactile telekinesis, like Superman does. It's more like she nullifies gravity on what she picks up. In that manner, she can do things no, mundane, machinery could do. Her lifting, literally, defies physics. So I don't think her power is just strength.
@@samuelvincent557 thank you! Was hoping someone would point this out. I always argue this when its brought up. Also when she kicks the house back into place without damaging it.
@@samuelvincent557 Good point. We see the rules working at other times but not for her. Even throwing donkeys should harm them but with her doing it they are fine.
Also, I just thought of this, but I like to think that Mirabel’s gift is the ability to heal her family’s bonds and the miracle itself. It would connect her gift to her mother’s gift.
9:14 What about the time when Camilo shape-shifted into someone tall to help put up a banner for Antonio’s Gift Ceremony? I mean it isn’t the most beneficial thing because they could just use a ladder but to get the job done quickly was pretty good at least for the moment being?!
I think you are forgetting the most powerful one, Mirabel. When we consider the XMen or the Avengers, we know that they are so unbeatable because they work together. Why? Because they have a leader that builds them up, cares for them, and then keeps them cooperating where other “leaders” would ultimately falter. Mirabel is their leader that managed to bring their powers to greater heights where Abuela ultimately met the dictators downfall in pushing them all apart, thereby removing their powers. That is why I think Mirabel should be the queen of this list. She ultimately keeps their powers growing strong
I was wondering if they were going to include Mirabel in the ranking. I think you make good points here, and it's the reason most superhero teams are led (or at least rely heavily on) a less "powerful" member with good strategy, leadership, and/or people skills, like Sokka in ATLA, Cap in the Avengers (I know he has powers, but they pale in comparison to 80% of his teammates), Batman in the Justice League, Robin in Teen Titans and Young Justice, etc.
I also think it’s important that Pepa’s power is difficult to control because the Earth NEEDS to go through different weather patterns naturally in order to maintain balance
Regarding the Thanos bit, I would argue that Wanda absolutely could have beaten Thanos, in their second encounter. He only escaped her by carpet bombing the entire battlefield, forcing her to defend herself from that instead of focusing on him. This is a man who took on Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Mjolnir, and Stormbreaker all at the same time, and he had to call for help against her.
Bruno can literally tell you when droughts and wars are going to happen, when a crime will occur or a bridge will collapse. How is that not power? You almost have omniscience of the future....HOW IS THAT NOT POWERFUL?!?!?!?! You can do ANYTHING with that. It's best with a team like some of the others, but being able to deploy teams to where they'll be most needed, before they even are needed could stop harms before it happens. I don't think it's necessarily #1 but it's SERIOUSLY powerful
if you remember Isabella picking up the cactus, the thing was sitting on a thin flower. And there was no sign of any damage to any surface that her plants grew on throughout the movie. i wouldn't be surprised if her plants have the caviat of having no roots, and thus being very short-lived. Maybe still good for feeding people, but i don't think any regrown forests would be able to stick around too long.
The thing about Camillos shapeshifting is that he also takes on the physical attributes of those who he is turning into, so he should be able to gain strength or, as shown in the movie, height. Granted, he wouldn't be able to get Luisas level of strength on account of that being a gift granted by Casita, but he should be able to make use of some higher athletic ability. In this way, he could be useful in emergency situations, not only in calming people down by taking the form of a friendly familiar face, but also helping out with getting people out of the situation. I don't know if that would place him any higher on the list, but it just seems more useful than you made it out to be. (Also, I don't see how the espionage aspect to Dolores' super hearing is more powerful than shapeshifting.)
On the subject of Julieta, I think her limit is it having to be a full meal. In the song, Mirabel says "she can heal you with a meal" And I seem to remember, every time she heals someone, she feeds them an entire arepa. Think of it as a sandwich being a full meal. It's a completed unit, and I don't think a singular grain of rice counts as a meal Arepas are just what she's most comfortable and familiar with cooking
Julietta’s powers, I’m guessing, fall back on the old adage, “the secret ingredient is love,” as sappy and sentimental as it may be. That would limit potential production, as she would need to put personal energy into the act of creation.
Camilo Madrigal, (Rhenzy Feliz): "Awwww... thanks!" (*shape-shifts into Maui, who can ALSO shape-shift, BUT... WITH his "magic fishhook"*, and uses his voice, (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson): "You're welcome!"
Personally, I'd switch Bruno and Camilo: knowing what is about to happen - and thus being able to better prepare for it - is more useful than looking like someone else. Even in very niche cases, like if you had a job or something that would greatly benefit from having this mimicry ability (like a spy or something), the ability to see the future would still be _at least_ as useful.
Then again combine Camilo who could turn into a corrupt world leader and Dolores who could tell him all the information he needs, that combination could literally end world corruption, end the war in Ukraine, neutralise North Korea, end the Israeli Palestinian conflict and many other bad things
One thing about Bruno's power you may have missed: it gives you a snapshot in time. That piece is fixed, as mentioned... but nothing around it is. For example, he told Isabela that, "the life of her dreams would be promised..." and Dolores that Mariano would be, "betrothed to another." In both cases, he was almost certainly seeing Mariano kneeling to Isabela, about to propose. But Mariano didn't marry Isabela, he's dating Dolores now. So was Bruno wrong? No, the image he saw was true, but there were circumstances around it that we didn't see. So what we could do with his power is be the Mirabel to Mariano's proposal, as it were =p . Yes, this bad thing is going to get very close to happening... but since we know about it, we can put a response team in place to stop it right before it does happen. We know we can't stop the thief from getting in the room and stealing the crown jewels... but we can be waiting right outside afterwards with a pair of handcuffs!
I think that content is more in the sense of the arranged Marriage he was promised to Isabella by his mother and her grandmother. Betrothed means engaged or promised to another. So Delores’s prophecy came true in the time of the movie. He told me the man of my dreams would be out of my reach betrothed to another. It was true he was betrothed to another until Isabella confessed she never wanted to marry him she was doing it for the family. She was expected to marry Mariano so she was betrothed in an arranged marriage
The only issue with Bruno's power not being important is the whole main problem in the movie. From what is shown, Major events are bot certain and can be changed. With that in mind, his prophecies would be incredibly important. Not only that, but he can offer people the peace of mind to know the little things that will happen and plan for what happens next. A minor example, I'd be a lot less upset if I knew I was for certain at one point going to rip my pants, since I'd be able to pack an extra pair of pants.
Julieta's powers are based on the concept of a mother's food making us feel better, this is because the mother in question is making it with love. By this logic, Julieta's food is magical because she makes it with her hands and puts her love into it; if she's not directly making the food with her hands, taking the time to put her intentions into it, then it won't work, or at least it won't be as effective; also, I think there's a reason why she's using arepas to heal people instead of like, making a huge pot of soup, because even if she's puting her time and love into that soup, it's still just one soup, and it's power would be divided between all those who ate from it, hence why I don't think your idea with the rice would work, since she's not cooking every grain of rice individually.
personally I think the future would be really good to know because for example say there was a massive fire that killed an entire village (let's say the entirety of Bruno's village) and Bruno foresaw that. He could then say what he saw and save his entire village. That's a pretty strong power imo.
Another consideration regarding Juileta is that it also appears that she has to physically serve the food she cooks herself. In every case where her cooking is used to heal, she is the one serving her food to the sick or injured person. That would reduce the number of people her gift can help at once.
One thing Camilo did show is that he was able to become someone who was taller to help put up a banner. So maybe stuff like that: transform into other people who have different physical abilities than you so it isn't just visual. Also, I'm really curious what Camilo was like as a child to warrant that power. Was he like really into impressions?
I get the extrapolation viewpoint and it makes for some really compelling arguments but within the confines of the story the original triplets actually have an interesting set of powers between them that is somewhat continued by their kids. The three of them provide some of the most essential parts of a society. Julieta can heal anything, providing healthcare for the people. Pepa can control the weather, allowing crops to grow efficiently and providing food (which works well in tandem with her neice Isabela). And Bruno can see the future which could provide warnings of external threats to the people (which is also aided by Delores's ability to hear things coming from a mile away). The other children have more community-sustaining powers that provide for the infrastructure of the town (Luisa being able to do any heavy lifting, and Antonio can basically stop the problem of pests by communicating a way for both animals and humans to get what they need).
You did the shape shifter dirty. He can literally turn in to any actually all influencers at that time and make everyone think the same thing and by influencers I mean acutely people with power Leaders and have a huge following
I think Camilo would be more powerful than Antonio and Dolores. As you said, speaking to animals is not the same as controlling them. But even if Antonio could literally control the animals, influencing people is still more useful, and Camilo can influence people very easily because of his ability to literally take the form of their authority figures, loved ones, their enemies, or even themselves. Even if he can't verbally convince the big bad to stop, the emotional effort it would take to harm someone who looks exactly like somebody they care about, would still give him a massive advantage. Camilo can also hear private conversations because of his ability. Similiar to Dolores, and to some extent Antonio. Unlike the others, he can do good with as little damage as possible. Dolores and Antonio only have the powers of a gossip with very good hearing. Camilo has power over their very minds.
As someone who has Misophonia (a disability where certain sounds trigger uncontrollable anxiety / rage) I can tell you that Dolloras is SUFFERING from her own ears (I joke that if my hearing were any more sensitive, I would be here DOG WHISTLES)
For combat/self defense purposes I think it would be really interesting to see what happens if Julieta messes up a recipe. Like, we’ve only ever seen her make successful batches of good food, but what if she makes a really crappy arepa? Or if she’s rage baking? Could she purposefully make food that’s essentially just... poison?
I think the thing that really makes Isabella number one isn't even just making any plant but doing that with absolutely no resources. She's basically creating matter and energy. Not only is this great for food but they can use wood to warm their houses, different plants for illness and for keeping out intruders since that's why their own was originally founded she can make a wall of trees and other vines and planets that they would have to try and break through before getting anywhere.
couldn’t Isabella grow rice for her mother and then just like… heal everybody? I feel like Abuella really limited her abilities by making her this perfect flowery girl instead of using them to actively help those in the village. Also, with Peppa being able to control the weather, we could switch to renewable energy sources if she kept the skies clear and the wind blowing.
I would argue that Dolores, while incredibly powerful, also has a massive weakness that was completely overlooked, which is the fact that she can hear EVERYTHING, even if it is super quiet, which likely means that she hears quiet things as a normal volume and loud things at an abnormally loud volume. Which I think is supported by the fact that she whispers when she talks. She likely can't stand the volume of her own voice. This would mean that she likely gets migraines near-constantly. And may even struggle to hear when people are talking to her from a close range at a 'normal' volume, because their voices may be overwhelmingly loud. Plus, an easy way to incapacitate her might just be to blare a loud horn or something. And since she can hear basically everything, so she would know every-time someone was talking behind her back, probably know when people were lying to her, know when others were keeping secrets, etc. (not to mention she would hear when her parents were kissing or anything else and that would just be really gross). I could see her easily going mad from that, or even just start voiding people in general.
I’d say prophecy is useful so you can prepare yourself for the future, like when Bruno told the girl what would happen if she didn’t reconcile with her sister.
Seems like we're glossing over the fact that Isabella has the EXACT same powers as Poison Ivy from DC, one of the most powerful Batman villains (if you consider her a villain and not an eco terrorist)
Not exactly the same as Ivy, she doesn't have Ivy's poisonous touch or immunity to poisons for example. A better example would be the omega level mutant Genesis, an omega level plant manipulator who is also Apocalypse's wife. She held council in a nation where the leadership structure is determined by battle (normally) and fought head on as their leader during a time of war.
Theres one thing you're not getting, all the powers that the characters get are all useful in wartime situations. Remember that the Encanto magic started after a war where their Abuelo was killed and as such the Encanto gave them powers that would help them fight back in a repeat situation. Louisa's super strength is super helpful in a war. Lisa's power over plant life can help them in guerilla warfare. Bruno's power need no imagination to explain its use. Dolores can hear enemy plans or help come up with counter measures. Camilo's shape shifting can be used for infiltration. Antonio's power can help in guerilla warfare utilizing animals and also using them as beasts of burden. Pepa can help whip up unfavourable conditions for the enemies. Julieta heals the troops. I mean you get the general idea
I think you should ponder the prequel implications... specifically what ~10 year old kids getting these powers results in... like for Pepa throwing a tantrum could wipe out the town... child birth must have been interesting too, right? That's a rabbit-hole of a situation there! -Shawn
The problem with Isabella's power is that we don't know what is required for her power. If there is a catch to it. For example the other powers, we don't know what counts as cooking and how much food has to be eaten to enjoy the benefits. Or if by controlling their emotions with emotional intelligence, they can control the weather, or if it locked to the emotions and they have to be feeling something. In Isabella's case, how long do the plants last? When they grow, do they consume something? Or they manifest out of nothing? Do they have any actual nutritional properties? Specially this last one, in Mob Psycho, psychics can grow plants in seconds, but because they didn't properly grew consuming and transforming materials, these plants don't have any nutritional value, they don't even have a taste.
Can you imagine what happened when Dolores got her gift? Imagine she’s just standing there with a glowing door, everyone’s waiting to see what her gift is, and then She suddenly hears someone in the back say to the person next to them “uh….so what is it?”
I didn't watch this video yet, but I remember having this discussion with some people. I strongly believe Isabella has the most utility from her ability. If you've seen the Gympie-gympie plant in Australia, that intense pain just from contact with the plant, being able to create plants that carry medicinal/ health purposes at will, stronger plants, carnivorous plants, I imagine her being able to create hive mind fungi, and likely insect attracting pheromone plants. She was able to hit Marianno during her song from a long distance without the intent to do so. If you've watched the anime Darwin's Game. The Florist's use of his plant powers involved mind control, plant armor (plants being able to sprout from cement is an incredible feat). He took over a whole building, with traps, barriers, etc.
Julieta's powers actually have some limits. Not to say it isn't incredible but her powers as presented is actually only speeding up the healing process. The only things shown to be healed are things that will heal eventually. Where as she is not able to heal her husband's eyes. These two things lead the most likely reasoning being that she only speeds up the healing for the person. Alternatively, there is the explanation that she can't heal something she doesn't recognize as an injury. In my opinion that limits her even more. This would mean that unless she knows of the actual ailment, she is only treating the symptoms. This becomes very dangerous when you would ignore an actual check-up and assume you are fine, since she is said to heal anything and you feel better.
Between Pepa, Luisa, Julietta, and Isabella they could basically grant immortality for the village at least. Luisa could plow the fields, Pepa could bring optimal rain and Isabella could grow the crops. Julietta could heal everyone and basically prevent death.
Camilo in a war: Camilo: *shapeshifts into someone on the enemy side* Camilo: *sneaks into enemy camp* Enemy General: Hey, what are you doing? Camilo: Oh, nothing. I'm on your side. Enemy General: Oh, cool. Theres a campout going on on the other side of camp, go check it out. Camilo: Kay. Camilo: *goes to campout, plants bomb* Camilo: *runs away* *large explosion in the distance* Abeula: What was that? Camilo: We won the war. Time to go home.
YOU CAN PREPARE BEFORE THATS POWERFULL BUT HE HAS TO DO A VERY LONG CEREMONY TO SEE THE FUTURE. SHAPESHIFT INTO A STRONG PERSON NOW THERE’S 2 OF THEM. BRING A TIGER TO THE FIGHT. A BODOZZER DOESN’T HAVE ARMS
My rankings are 8: Camilo 7: Antonio 6: Louisa 5: Delores 4: Peppa 3: Bruno 2: Julieta 1: Isabella Also I feel like Augustine kinda has some Murphys Law sort of power
I feel like it's Camilo because he always blends in and no one would know it was him! He would never be found, think about want you could do with that!
I think the definition of power should be about having an effect on as many lives at a time rather than just helping. Isabella and Pepa have extreme potential but I think Bruno or even Camillo are more powerful but in a more subtle way. If either of them had malicious intent I feel they could do the most damage in the long run
Strength at #5: should be higher on the list, because she is literally doing all these things already for the town, hence her anxiety about being useless without her strength. That's why many superheroes have super-strength, and it's just a bonus power to have something like great hearing or animal speak. Hearing at #4: Better hearing can be a liability when you can't turn it off or interpret/act upon what you're hearing (her plugging her ears during fireworks due to her sensitivity, and her inability to keep a secret she overhears). And if someone doesn't want her to know about something, they could speak in code or feed her misinformation intentionally. I'd rank Camilo's shape-shifting higher than hearing ability in a superhero setting, so swap those two powers; in the Survivors example, the guy wouldn't have heard anything if he wasn't hiding in the trees. Isabella's plant power has great potential for multiple uses, depending on application. It could potentially do the same as super-strength as well as semi-rapid transportation or an elevator service, as long as we don't mind the root structure of a tree when we lift a building. It could provide camouflage in certain settings or be used for disguise-making, though not to Camilo's shape-shifting precision. So she earns her #1 status.
My theory about julieta, is that it is not the cooking that is healing, but the feeding by her own hands, as for the power of healing comes from within herself and the cooking is just her way to easily conduct it
When it comes to gifts, I think it's a tie between Isabella and Pepa. But, if we're talking about strength overall, it's Mirabel. She has endured being ostracized and pretty much unloved by her family since she was five. Even her parents who don't shun her still treat her like she's handicapped. She's not a failure like the rest believe, but is somewhat less, a bit defective. I don't think any other family member could have come through that and been as positive as she was. It would have broken them. Antonio's seen how Mirabel is treated so he's terrified of his own ceremony. He's terrified of being cast out as she was. The rest of the family can look down on her because, it wasn't them. They didn't fail 'the family' and were still loved. Bruno was just like Mirabel, but the strain broke him and caused him to leave. Mirabel could still go on despite it all. Mirabel is the strongest family member. Because, the one thing about having a scapegoat that you blame everything on that proves you aren't strong, the whole point of having a scapegoat is so you don't have to accept responsibility for anything at all. It's horrible for the blamed, but for you it's extremely freeing to not worry about ever making a mistake. You're mistakes are that person's fault after all, not yours.
5:22 To be fair, Thanos *already* had a “magnificent throne to rest upon.” Anyway, this is an interesting ranking of the Madrigal family based on how much their gifts can help others.
To do a little counter, let's look at some weaknesses that could potentially be; Bruno needs sand and the right conditions to see the future. Antonio doesn't seem to have any, as long as there are something classified as an animal around, especially because it also seems like he is now part cat-nip/calming to animals and they obey his orders, meaning he has some control over them. He could potentially at one point find out that humans are animals and gain control over them. Luisa doesn't seem to have any, except her emotions, because as soon as she begins feeling weak, she grows weak. The same goes with Peppa, her emotions would also be her greatest weakness with her powers. It could be possible that just boiling water would make that water healing, if we are talking about Julietta. She might just need water and something to mix it with or a way to manipulate it (for example, if she made ice cubes, those could be considered made by her and therefore be healing. All we know is that it must be injested. We don't know if it also works with drinks because we don't really see her prepare drinks.) Isabella probably needs to be in contact with something solid, or may just need to be in contact with something that has contact to the ground, but we don't know if that's an issue for her. Maybe a very dry/wet environment would make her powers null (a desert or the middle of the ocean, for example) Cam (cannot spell his full name) probably just need to have seen the person and can afterwards mimic them. We also know that he can change their appearance, like when he made Bruno 7 feet tall in We Don't Talk About Bruno, so he might just need to have heard a good description of the person
I mean the power of animal communication in this movie seems to go beyond words and comprehension and be sort of empathic? Like he loves the animals so they recognize that and love him back?
All I can imagine is pepa in a battle. Like, just imagine if one of her kids were in danger. You already know the stories of regular people lifting cars to save their kids, imagine that, BUT WITH HER
Category 20 hurricane
Pretty sure that would make her wedding day hurricane look like a gentle summer shower.
How can you not see Luisa in battle
"Not my daughter you b****!"
⚡⚡⚡⚡🌪️🌪️🌪️
@Epstein Lived at Mar a Lago I think they put the most time and effort into videos than any other UA-camr I’ve ever seen! They are the best !
I totally get you on Julieta. Any D & D player (or any game of that style) will tell you a healer in the party is the greatest asset you can have.
@@benwagner5089 Just be wary of the glass cannon. Useful, yes, but needs protecting.
"I'm your White Mage. And nobody f*cks with the White Mage."
@@loner844 Or, uh, "other" kinds of herbs.
@@forestgrump4723 he'd break the cliché of the character with animal-based powering being vegetarian/vegan.

Bruno could also foresee any natural disasters and warn people to evacuate
Agreed; it was Dr Strange using a variation of this ability that basically won endgame
But that would all depend on him interpreting what he sees correctly
"because for instance with Mirabel's first prophecy, the future isn't always decided, it can go one of two ways and in those cases"
But does it though? The prophecy was undecided, not the future. The movie shows that Brunos prophecies do come true, but Isabella's prophecy relies entirely on Mirabel saving/restoring the miracle, unless you interpret the sequence of "What Else Can I Do?" as all that prophecy was talking about but that's not much of a "life of my dreams", that's just a moment.
What in Mirabels prophecy did not come true? The future was set in stone, it just wasn't clear what the future was!
Counter point for Bruno: he can predict floods and earthquakes and catastrophic events and thus save thousands if not millions of lives 😅
good point
This-
It all comes down to if the prophecies can be changed.
Came here to say the same thing 👍
I think this could be a very interesting way to make this power work so that it's not incredibly OP.
True but he could see he was gonna be killed in that moment and run
@@kaylasowards3812 I hold reasonable doubt to that being within his ability set.
I love how plant based powered characters aren’t seen as much. It makes it more fun when I see one! And they all seem to be unique in their own way!

Based on the system you're ranking it on, yea second to last makes sense. We NEED a power ranking video though!
Camillo the metamorphagus.
Yes this is very important
Opportunity missed when you were talking about isabella early, shouldve said "what else can she do", instead of "how far could she take that"
I mean... he said it when talking about her later in the video.
"Can he shape-shift into animals?" I kinda like it😅
"Can he be as big as the house?" THE HOLUP-😲
20? and on the note of Luisa's strength, he could just command strong animals to do the job of the machinery but at a much larger scale than Luisa could
He could also solve world hunger
Summoning millions of fish from the ocean for fishermen to catch
@@ElisonTheDuck The problem is, that he can't grow the fish, like Isabella can grow plants, therefore he will extinguish them
Cinema Therapy did a good bit on how the family’s powers were analogous to therapy techniques.
A, hermano's my favorite character here so I am interested in your point😅
B, That makes total sense.
Or Abuela, if you think about it. But I do think Mirabel might be better bc Abuela might be too control like in the movie.
She is the heart and hearth. She is the implied next matriarch and keeper of Casita after all..

In the song, Mirabel says "she can heal you with a meal"
And I seem to remember, every time she heals someone, she feeds them an entire arepa. Think of it as a sandwich being a full meal. It's a completed unit, and I don't think a singular grain of rice counts as a meal
Arepas are just what she's most comfortable and familiar with cooking
I think in the scene when mirabel cuts her hand she only had a big bite of the arepa before she was healed
Julietta’s powers, I’m guessing, fall back on the old adage, “the secret ingredient is love,” as sappy and sentimental as it may be.
That would limit potential production, as she would need to put personal energy into the act of creation.
Come on, Camillo babysitting that kid as mom herself is LEGENDARY!

Personally, BOTH Bruno AND Camilo's abilities COMBINED is PRETTY POWERFUL!
Then again combine Camilo who could turn into a corrupt world leader and Dolores who could tell him all the information he needs, that combination could literally end world corruption, end the war in Ukraine, neutralise North Korea, end the Israeli Palestinian conflict and many other bad things
Bruno the Doomsday Prepper
Mirabel's gift of being the next keeper of the miracle seems pretty important as well because without her there are now powers at all.
personally I think the future would be really good to know because for example say there was a massive fire that killed an entire village (let's say the entirety of Bruno's village) and Bruno foresaw that.
Super cool video idea guys! Can’t wait to watch it!!
As someone with sensitive hearing, Dolores' power would be absolutely terrible to have
Pepa also ensures that it will always be raining at every funeral.
Brun being able to see the future would be able to see when a natural disaster could happen allowing people to evacuate before it gets to them.
Could she purposefully make food that’s essentially just... poison?
10:50 that means antonio's power is not jsut to talk to animals, but basically making them his servants..
Day 18 of asking supercarlinbrothers to bring back google auto fill videos please
couldn’t Isabella grow rice for her mother and then just like… heal everybody? I feel like Abuella really limited her abilities by making her this perfect flowery girl instead of using them to actively help those in the village. Also, with Peppa being able to control the weather, we could switch to renewable energy sources if she kept the skies clear and the wind blowing.
Mirabel's mom can not heal her daughter's astigmatism, apparently, or else she wouldn't need glasses.
What about Mirable? She’s the leader of the group, and without her no one would have powers
18:33 this is exactly why I watch y'all's videos. Y'all overthink EVERYTHING. To a EXTRAORDINARY level. And I LIVE for it
I’d say prophecy is useful so you can prepare yourself for the future, like when Bruno told the girl what would happen if she didn’t reconcile with her sister.
Now all I can hear is Isabella's voice going "I am Groot!"
I mean you get the general idea
this is actually mindblowing! I've never made that connection. good spot!
@@Jacqueline-rl8pu thank you
This is such a cool idea for a video
I think you should ponder the prequel implications... specifically what ~10 year old kids getting these powers results in... like for Pepa throwing a tantrum could wipe out the town... child birth must have been interesting too, right? That's a rabbit-hole of a situation there!

I feel badly for five year old Julietta being forced to cook for the entire community.
Camilo, (Rhenzy Feliz): "At LEAST... SOME people CARE in the REAL WORLD... "go figure"!" (*sarcastically*)
I'm glad that you explicitly expressed that the SCB's value the preservation of life. It would be a dark day when you two go rogue.
I've literally never been this early this is awesome
No matter how much I watch these videos, I never get tired of the intro theme! I really hope you never change it 💜
Can you imagine what happened when Dolores got her gift? Imagine she’s just standing there with a glowing door, everyone’s waiting to see what her gift is, and then She suddenly hears someone in the back say to the person next to them “uh….so what is it?”
Oh I love the idea of this video!
THIS WAS A YEAR AGO??? I remember watching this video, and it doesn't seem that long ago. Alas, time flys.
Encanto is a new Disney Classic
The makers of the movie tweeted about this All she has to do is Touch it before it is done and it is considered That she made it
Camilo in a war:
Camilo: *shapeshifts into someone on the enemy side*
Camilo: *sneaks into enemy camp*
Enemy General: Hey, what are you doing?
Camilo: Oh, nothing. I'm on your side.
Enemy General: Oh, cool. Theres a campout going on on the other side of camp, go check it out.
Camilo: Kay.
Camilo: *goes to campout, plants bomb*
Camilo: *runs away*
*large explosion in the distance*
Abeula: What was that?
Camilo: We won the war. Time to go home.
Camilo Madrigal, (Rhenzy Feliz): "I would TOTALLY do THAT in a battle!"
My rankings are
8: Camilo
7: Antonio
6: Louisa
5: Delores
4: Peppa
3: Bruno
2: Julieta
1: Isabella
Also I feel like Augustine kinda has some Murphys Law sort of power
Actually, my first thought when you said Bruno was #8 was "We don't talk about Bruno!" (LOL)
I understood Antonio 's power as not just talking to animals but befriending/ commanding them.
My theory about julieta, is that it is not the cooking that is healing, but the feeding by her own hands, as for the power of healing comes from within herself and the cooking is just her way to easily conduct it
Video idea for follow up, what are each member of the family's kryptonite or how to neutralize them?
The Ace Ventura: Pet Detective movies are so great and hilarious!
To do a little counter, let's look at some weaknesses that could potentially be;
Bruno needs sand and the right conditions to see the future.
We don't know if it also works with drinks because we don't really see her prepare drinks.)
Isabella probably needs to be in contact with something solid, or may just need to be in contact with something that has contact to the ground, but we don't know if that's an issue for her. Maybe a very dry/wet environment would make her powers null (a desert or the middle of the ocean, for example)
Cam (cannot spell his full name) probably just need to have seen the person and can afterwards mimic them. We also know that he can change their appearance, like when he made Bruno 7 feet tall in We Don't Talk About Bruno, so he might just need to have heard a good description of the person
You missed the perfect opportunity to use a clip from Sky High for Isabella! She's basically Layla.
I would argue that Abuela would be the most powerful, as without her no one would have gifts. She is literally the keeper of all the powers.
Can we agree that Antonio actually control animals with his voice. Isabella also has indestructible.
I mean the power of animal communication in this movie seems to go beyond words and comprehension and be sort of empathic? Like he loves the animals so they recognize that and love him back?
