  • Many tourism-dependent Caribbean economies make it a point that the beach is just the beginning.
    However, in Mayreau, the smallest inhabited island in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, a beach -- the world-famous Salt Whistle Bay -- is the beginning and centre of the economy.
    And, when iWitness News visited the 0.5 square mile island on July 9, eight days after the storm, the breach of the isthmus that shielded Salt Whistle Bay from the rougher seas on the windward side of the island was a recurring theme.
