As a Ghanaian, I always think Jamaicans should be so so proud. Incredible how one tiny island can influence so much popular culture 🤩. Ive got a lot of love for my Jamaican cousins!
I visited Ghana last May and absolutely loved it. It reminded me of a much bigger, safer Jamaica. Similar foods, some of the words I heard were familiar and the people reminded me of those back home. Looking forward to going again.

As a Nigerian it's pretty interesting seeing how similar Nigeria and Jamaica are. To the food we eat, our lifestyle, the words we say, even our architecture is incredibly similar. I'm glad they held on to so much of their west African culture even after centuries! Jamaica, and really all of the Caribbean are our long lost relatives.
yes, most of the founding fathers of Jamaica are from western Nigeria and were transported during the slave trade. which means language, food and culture were transported. this is the reason for the similarities

I really love how Sunny is always so respectful and open. His videos are just so entertaining and informative with a great sense of humor! I could watch them all day, haha!
I'm not gonna lie, I love that this dude really goes to the local markets rather than the five star establishments. And he also adds an element of adventure without the melodramatic feel that Gordan Ramsey's show tries to use. It's fun, lighthearted, interesting, honest and the food looks great.
I am from Ivory Coast in West Africa and I realize the great similarity in our cuisine, our ingredients, our foods, our gestures, the same ways of dressing... In fact we are brothers who have been separated for centuries, but who have kept exactly the same culture. And I'm sure that if we were English-speaking like you, we were going to speak the same way. Our neighbors in Ghana, with whom we have enough family ties, have exactly the same way of speaking as you, given that they are English-speaking and we are French-speaking. We love you in Africa! Hats off to Sonny for his great respect for the culture of others. Stay blessed🙏🏾Peace! ✌🏾
Wouldn’t speak the same way because Patwah is mixed language of Spanish and Portuguese also, its not full on English….. many influences from the Spanish and Portuguese in Patois language, many forget Jamaica was first conquered by Spain way before England….
Ivory Coast is on my bucket list. Visited Ghana last May and loved it. The African Tigress UA-cam channel featured her visit to Ivory Coast and it looks like a very beautiful country. One love!!
@kaydenpat You will not regret visiting Ivory Coast. One of the most welcoming and beautiful countries in Africa. You will absolutely feel at home. The similarity of habits and customs is so obvious. One Love bro/sis ✌🏾🙏🏾
No it's nit the same culture. I'm Jamaican origin and living in Europe, ive being to your country, nothing is similar. I didn't knew the foods and everything taste different. I think it's mostly Ghana dishes that are similar.
I understand what you mean but I think they mainly showed traditional and rural styles of cooking for the purpose of the show but most Jamaicans are very modernize unless you go into the poorer areas. The majority of Jamaicans don't eat or live like the rastafarians shown here. Some won't even cook on a coal stove in the back yard anymore. They make every thing on a gas or electric stove inside. Jerk at home is done in the oven now too etc unless u buy from a jerk man on the street. They'll even roast breadfruit and fish on their gas stove inside their houses. The experience you get is all about where u go and how traditional the family is that you stay with. What's common is that we all love these dishes even if we prepare it in more convenient ways. Wealth is unevenly distributed in Jamaica so some people live like Americans while others live a very simple life similar to what Matt and Sunny presented here.
Jamaican people are beautiful! Met white Jamacian, Asian Jamaican, Black Jamaican and all of them are very prideful to their culture. They can talk about it all day. Cant wait to visit one day!

@@ShanaèlampART337 Any country is more than their crimes...but in Jamaica crime is a very big issue and cannot be brushed aside....and the poverty and level of corruption is on a different level.
It is the food that always brought me back to Jamaica! Even though I stayed at the all-inclusive resorts at Montego Bay, Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios, I always ate their local food. I love their jerk chickens, ackees, ox-tails on rice, dumplings and so forth. I hope to return again and again. I also love their beaches, weather and their music. Sonny, and co-hosts, thanks for bringing back wonderful memories!

Listen!! I watched this with a big smile on my face... We are truly amazing. One love ma people.. Thank you Sonny for featuring our country, the people and our culture..
Fun "likkle" fact: When Bob Marley & The Wailers were coming, up my wife's grandmother used to cook for them all the time as she had a little restaurant, and even hooked up to the power when they needed to practice songs. The same cooking and recipes are enjoyed to this day from my wife's mom. Best food ever !
In my opinion the Jamaican language is the most beautiful in the world 🥰 When I’m older and my kids has moved out I’m going to travel to Jamaica and try the Rastafarian culture, I think my health issues would be helped by living clean, and the pain would be managed with the help of their lovely herb ❤️ Just have to hope they accept a old western lady 😆

I'm not Jamaican but my heritage and most my family are so I feel I just have to say that it's great seeing all this food that I've grown up eating (and even more food that I haven't yet tried) being featured on here. I can't wait to go back to Jamaica again with my family and try some more.
I was already subscribed to Jamaica Food Boss and Sonny Side and I was sooooo estatic and excited to see this calloboration. And it has been amazing beyond expectations. Big Up an One Love to you both, Respek ✌❤💛💚
Seriously drooling throughout this entire video, lol. Absolutely LOVE Jamaican dishes! I can honestly say that I've NEVER had a Jamaican dish that I didn't like 💯😋🥰❤ the flavors just be on point! And every dish is just a straight up masterpiece foreal.
Jamaican is an incredible place with amazing people and culture

Jamaica is on my bucket list to visit some day. LOOK AT THIS PLACE!! Gorgeous land, kind people, delicious food, amazing music. I cannot wait to start traveling💗
Don't come if you don't wanna be killed! The crime is crazy here!
@@paradisesunprincess that's true nevertheless, Jamaica is more than the crimes.
@@ShanaèlampART337 Any country is more than their crimes...but in Jamaica crime is a very big issue and cannot be brushed aside....and the poverty and level of corruption is on a different level.
Ok😊@@paradisesunprincess
@@paradisesunprincess Tourists rarely have issues in jamaica. If you stay out of certain areas, their good.
this is my FAVORITE best ever episode!! so BEAUTIFUL!! i would love to try every single dish!! YUMMMMMM!
😁💙🤘🏻
It is the food that always brought me back to Jamaica! Even though I stayed at the all-inclusive resorts at Montego Bay, Runaway Bay and Ocho Rios, I always ate their local food. I love their jerk chickens, ackees, ox-tails on rice, dumplings and so forth. I hope to return again and again. I also love their beaches, weather and their music. Sonny, and co-hosts, thanks for bringing back wonderful memories!
You should come St Thomas parish when you back in 🇯🇲
Sonny: What are you going to make from this?
Chef: I'm going to make a dish!
Sonny: 🙄😁
Me: 🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
ME TOO....lol
its like pointing at a chunk of marble and asking the artisan what its going to be before they are finished. wait and see. lol
Omg that was my favorite part 😭
😂😂 shooting straight to the point👨🏾🍳 I love it 🇯🇲 Proud South African🇿🇦
@@buddyguy4723 Different though, he already knew what he was going to cook lol art is random and not planned like a meal.
My God, the energy of the Jamaican episodes are through the roof!!
Sonny you’re a real one. I don’t know how I missed this one but thank you. Well presented and in turn, enjoyed ♥️♥️ your research is impeccable.
I’m a proud Jamaican. I love our food and culture. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲❤️❤️❤️
A lot of my comments on UA-cam are mean or trolly but I'm genuinely glad to see this guy and this channel pulled through the pandemic, personally haven't watched this channel the whole pandemic, glad to be back and it's here ,good to soak in some international culture right b4 WWIII breaks out

Been watching you for nearly 3 years and now I see you reviewing my country 🤯 Sweet... 🇯🇲🇯🇲
I'm from Key West and those land crabs were like a plague, can't believe we never ate them!!! What were we thinking?
This is one of his episodes that he seems genuinely happy and enjoying it, love it!
It is a brilliant way to showcase our diverse cuisine and culture. Luv it.
In my opinion the Jamaican language is the most beautiful in the world 🥰
When I’m older and my kids has moved out I’m going to travel to Jamaica and try the Rastafarian culture, I think my health issues would be helped by living clean, and the pain would be managed with the help of their lovely herb ❤️
Just have to hope they accept a old western lady 😆
You would really enjoy it here. Plus the people are warm and friendly ❤️
@@jamaicanfoodie1487 oh thank you that sounds lovely 🥰❤️

Yup, ital is vital! Go for it!
Love the show! I have watched travel shows like this for years, just to see the places and different foods. But, your show is the first where I actually enjoy hearing from the host! Love it, keep it up!
I'm absolutely certain Jamaica 🇯🇲 was created to spice up the world 🌎. Couldn't imagine the world without JamDown.
The production value on your videos is phenomenal! BEST EVER FOOD REVIEW SHOW, EVER! 🙌👏
This episode was all smiles. What amazing, warm, wonderful people
Lots of love to jamaica 🇯🇲 from india 🇮🇳 😀 ❤
Many Native American influences in Jamaica being that the island first had Native Americans 👍🏼🇯🇲🏴🇮🇪
@@alexanderpapii4866yes natives not Indians …
@@Nothingisreal1737 BOTH Indigenous and East Indian/South Asian influence in Jamaica. No mention of the East Indian/Hindu influence on Rastafarianism such as ganja, kali weed (after the Hindu goddess Kali), locks from the Sadhu's, living in camps, the vegetarian influence, etc...
@@windies1827 because this is false information 😂. Jamaica is located in the Americas … our natives are black. Natives worldwide are black .. Indian native (sentinelese) Filipino native (Aeta) aboriginal First Nations (black) Indians didn’t influence Rastafarianism whatsoever. Indians were shipped to the Americas and curry was their survival.
@@windies1827 the vegetarian influence ?? 😂😂😂 that’s called ITAL. .. it’s called living off the land … like our ancestors … not no Indians 😭😭😭😭. Respect natives pls.
It's so amazing to see when someone respects others culture....god bless you Sonny and the whole team for showing jammacian culture thanks you
This was so well done! I love how you are so honorable towards all the people and places you visit. I also think your team does a wonderful job of researching locations. Your show doesn't seem like it's trying too hard to shock. It reads as authentic. It reads as a childlike (joyous) exploration of God's beautiful creation, with the best local guides ever!!! I'm a Jamaican and I've learned a lot! I have a few food spots I've got to hit up now!
Wow! Amazing content ❤️ love to feel like I’m travelling during this pandemic with you and your crew! Such wonderful culture and people. Thank you for sharing!
Now I can't stop saying "Ya, Man." So damn funny and cool thank you Jamaica 😂
Mathew is such a great ambassador for our Jamaican food. 🇯🇲
I like to see that some of the food I grew up eating in the Caribbean side of Costa Rica is coming from Jamaica. Akhi is also available in Puerto Limón, Costa Rica. Since we have a high volume of Jamaican heritage and I am proud of that.
Ackee* ... You're right though, Caribbean food is similar
Interesting to hear that.
Yeah man! And all are from Motherland!!!
@@WaveMaster1406 Not sure what you mean by that, Scottish/Irish Jamaican here.
@@alexanderpapii4866 He means Ackee doesn't come from ireland it comes from Africa. Where the Majority of Jamaicans descend from fully or partially.
This guy pushes us to travel around the world 😍😍😍
Jamaica seems like such a laid back country ☺️
It is! Love my little island. ♥️
This is one of the best from this series so far. So wholesome ❤
I don't why I find myself smiling when Matthew says "yeah man"
