Well he doesn’t have the big oil cooler in the way like most n54s. If you have the oil cooler your not getting to the ballast without taking the bumper off

IzzyE9X: Great video. Is the ballast really that easy to get to on the driver’s side too? Because I’ve been told the bumper needs to be removed. I have a 2009 E92 M3 that needs a driver’s side ballast.
Any problems so far? if you watch Raymond Urias's video on his ballast replacement he mentions how the aftermarket ones melted and failed due to rubber connectors instead of plastic ones. Upon reading the reviews on this AA ignition ballast, it doesn't seem like there is any melting issues. I also don't understand why the amazon description of them say they're not compatible with my 2011 e92 m3 if it says it replaces the same part number that my m3 uses.

I’ve used this same ballast , changed mine about sep 2021 && April 2022 my headlight is out again. I have a back up ballast so we’re going to see if these Amazon parts are worth it.
Hmm, maybe an underlying issue or just bad luck? I’ve had mine in the car for about 2 years now and it’s still working perfectly fine
Can you verify the cable orientation for the driver side? My driver side is the one im replacing, however, the actual housing for the ballast will not fit the wires in this formation.

All the cables were cooked so I’ve isolated them

Question:
Does a Ballast effect the brightness of the bulb... so if there on there way out and getting old with they be less brighter and will new ballast be nice and bright? My E92 is 2008 which us fairly old and I just dont find the lights very bright nor reach very far ... so im thinking of replacing with new bulbs n ballasts

I’m fairly certain the new ballasts due affect light output! I did a trial and used two new bulbs and only one new ballast and noticed one light was more yellow than the one with the new ballast as well

Are you working on a E92? Why are people in other videos of e90,92s removing the front bumper to do this job? I have a 2009 e92 328i and I would love to replace the ballast without removing the front bumper. Thanks.
It is an E92, I see no situation where you’d need to remove the bumper! to remove the whole headlight assembly you will need to, but definitely not the ballast
Thanks for the reply. After reading some comments I think the other videos that show bumper removal to change the ballast the cars being worked on are 335s and there was mention of an oil cooler being in the way of doing the job from the wheel well.
Can you make a video on how to rewire the headlights my wires are just the pure wire it doesn’t have the coat on it
for a short term fix, you can use some electrical tape.

I have to same light configuration as you can you point out where the angel eye bulb are… my drivers side went out and I can’t find where to replace it, I am told it’s a h8 bulb
That is correct it is not an H8 bulb. If you go to 1:32 in the video, you’ll see where a circular little area with some metal inside, that is supposed to be where the angel eye bulb cover goes. The bulb simply twists out

There should be gasket goes into the bottom of the assembly. I am not sure which way should I place that gasket.

How come your old ballast 2:10 only have 4 pins and the new one 3:15 have the black plastic on it man? Do they still fit in the harness even the black plastic is on it
The old ballast wore out so much that the black plastic piece came off when I unplugged it. It’s supposed to have the black piece

What if all 4 Angel eyes are Flickering constantly , can it be the Ballasts that are faulty or About to give out?
That would be the halo bulbs or the fuse, the ballast controls the headlight high and low beams. The halo bulbs are separate
@@IzzyE9X So I coded the DRL and Cold and warm test off and no more flickering during the day. So when I power on headlights by pressing Fog lights botton turns on everything well. Headlights low and highs, fogs work great but angel eyes flicker constantly. I have a bmw 2011 328i coupe and i wonder where the angel bulbs are? I opened the housing from above and there is bulb in the middle and the angel eyes clear tube goes toward the bottom of the headlight housing.
Will this work on my 2012 x3 please, great news if it does😅

I didn’t notice any noise but that could be from the bulbs/ballasts shorting or from the automatic headlights angling themselves

I have 330d 2006 but has lci headlights can this be done on car thanks also the wire what plugs into the Ds1 bulb it smells burnt can anyone help I have new ballast also my indercater still works the high beam does also halo just not bulb tnx
If the ballast is new and the turn signal, the halo and the high beams all work but the headlight bulb doesn’t it’s most likely the headlight bulb or fuse.
@IzzyE9X no the ballast in the car is the old one and they all work apart from main beam I have a new ballast to go into car when I take the wire-plug off the back of the ds1 headlight bulb it smells burnt 😳
Also looks abit melted aswell but still goes onto plug so all I can think its the ballast???

They get good reviews across Amazon and online. They’re the same price as the OEM ones but lifetime warranty and Amazon Prime is a plus. I’d probably do OEM since it’s the same price, but Prime means next day arrival

This is if you don’t have an oil cooler on your n54. I have one so it’s right in the way of the ballast. So this video isn’t accurate for all e92 n54s.
