Louis, here in the USA we can only print money not test kits. Lol
Money printer go brrrr
Covid19 test manufacturer go 😴
@I Blow Bubbles Are you sure? I'd like to see links to any research that says this.
@I Blow Bubbles eh, imo the problem in the us isnt the lackluster testing methods , much rather the fact that national healthcare is virtually non existant and a lot of people will go bankrupt if they need a hospital stay or god beware a breathing apparatus. Which will lead to (further) economic downturn down the line
@I Blow Bubbles LMAO, so it can't differentiate between a common cold and frigging SARS or MERS?

Louis it's a pleasure to watch your honesty and integrity you apply to life and work.
I learn lots with every video, thanks brother and stay lucky.
Man, I don't even own any apple products, you're just THAT entertaining to watch. You clearly know what you're doing, you couldn't be so humourous otherwise.
My soldering skills are kind of non existent however I do know a bit about electronics and how things works and I find this channel extremely...calming. It's like listening to Classic FM while stuck in traffic when all other buggers are punching the shit out of each other. I just turn this on, sit back and watch things get fixed. Proper soul healing lol. Ok im sad :D
Every time you talk about the government that vein in your neck gets huge
I dont use Apple products, but i work with race cars electronics, your techniques helped me a lot to improve my work on smd for ECUs!!
I'm a PC user but I swear I'm gonna buy a dead Macbook just to send Louis some business. Dude's awesome.
Isn't that the same as a brand new one.
I’m glad I already self isolate (I stay at home depressed af thanks to medical issues) it means I can watch your uploads that make things interesting, without changing my habits.
I began watching these videos after I had a spill on my MacBook Air (which is currently there for repair) and I find them so informative an interesting! I’m still watching videos out of pure interest and you definitely essential! Look forward to more content!
This was a great livestream a few days ago, glad to see it on the main channel. Both repair and social commentary.
The sound of that fume extractor never gets old.
Listening to this while working has an ASMR quality to it. Thank you.

Hi Louis I'm from Portugal and I love your videos with this content i like to fixing pc and you videos had give me another handstanding off boards and circuits, the thing I most feel bad was when I was in school was fucking for studies and, now I have a big dark hole in understanding circuits in the boards...

By the way here in austria:
We also don't know if we have/had corona except if we have a fever and/or short breath AND get tested in time.
Testing is not really useful most of the time since most people don't get noticable sick when they have corona. It's only good for statistics and political pre-planning.
Quarantine is the only real option.

I had a VA nurse tell me same thing about testing. It may be the flu, it may not but I can't find out unless I've either had contact with a known infected patient. Or if I'm either near being hospitalized or already there. But if I really, really wanted a test, I could get one if I lied about symptoms. Also the VA won't cover anything.
Testing is supposed to be free no matter who you are
@@kylewitter2806 I've heard and read that. But as of Mar 23, I was told it'd be $70.

When I was dealing with parents on Medicare, I was impressed with it. Now that I'm on Medicare, I'm impressed with it -- from the standpoint of accuracy and efficiency, anyhow. I can't say I'm totally pleased with what's covered and what isn't, but that isn't the agency's fault. Bernie et al are arguing for coverage much broader than current Medicare; something closer to most good employer-provided plans. This isn't on topic, but you started it.
Nice to get Pauls opinion on all the craziness.
First . enjoy your vids. I don't know shit about what you're doing but like the techie stuff and like the fight for right to repair. stay awesome

Here in Denmark, we don't test most people who have a potential for being infected. Great way to hold the infection numbers low, while pointing fingers at the US' numbers. What's that? They have 60 times the population, and WAY bigger, dense populated cities? Nah, it must be "Orange man bad".
Louis humming "Rain of the Castemere" ... now if that's not a bad omen, I don't know what is!
Well done Louie! 👌
I know here in Georgia if you go to the hospital you automatically get tested reguardless. (According to someone I know who went for several days a month ago in a county with no cases)
louis your shop looks good now how is the basement going? as we have not seen it for months thanks for showing us how it is like on the streets of new York keep safe and all the best in fixing those lovely mac books :-)
Also , it doesn't show symptoms for 2 weeks but you're still contagious , so you can be exposed to it but neither you or the person who had it even knows what happened.
Here in puerto rico the goverment ordered a shipment of coronavirus testing kits and someone inside tried to steal 550 testing kits..corruption to the core..
One of the police chiefs in Grenada pulled the same shit and kept over 20 diesel generators in his basement, donated to the island after a devastating storm. He's in a prison now.
A warehouse of emergency supplies was found recently, they were for the hurricane last year, Puerto Rico, I think.
@@dsloop3907 and the same people who stole the corona virus kits are responsable for hiding the warehouse suplies..we have a intitusional mafia in puerto rico...the non elected governor is the most corrupted official to date..
In Belgium the government ordered 5 million month masks for health staff in hospitals, they paid 3.8 million euros. They never arrived.
@@toetertijd
That's funny. Germany also ordered 5 million masks and they never arrived.
Coming in contact isn't a guarantee that you'll get tested as co-worker of my mom came in contact with (sat at a desk beside them for several hours the day their test came back positive, obviously before it came back) someone who had confirmed been infected (1st case in my county) and they refused to test them despite them having autoimmune issues because they are "young and healthy" despite the fact they are having obvious health issues. Their doctor had call the CDC to bitch them out about not testing someone who is at a heightened risk of infection before they'd test this person.
I always wondered how a boost converter works; now I know. Thanks.
Hey Louis, how come you didn’t wick off the solder after you took off the chip? I normally see you use the copper wick when redoing connectors, some resistors and chips, especially if they were corroded. Can you explain when you need to wick and the main reason you do? I have the general idea it’s to remove old solder, but that’s all I understand. Also, I wanted to ask how you know what orientation to align the chip when putting it back on the board. I love the videos and I’m trying to learn more about computer repair as I enjoy tech repair and I too got screwed by Apple Authorized with the mid 2010 15” pro’s kernel panic (I may have lost the computer from poor repair, but I was treated quite well and got refunded for the repair that rendered the computer useless). I stumbled across the video you did (a few years too late) on how most repair shops repair the gpu issue by “baking” it and wish I knew better at the time
I don't know why... But I watch your videos even though I know absolutely NOTHING about computers, electronics, soldering, etc.
I don't even know what you're doing or why half of the time lol
Stay safe!! And thanks for so many super great videos!! :-)
hope u safe man
Gentle advice:
Wear mask whole day till reach home.
Stay at least 2 meters away from each other.
Clean hand constantly.
Take off clothes once reach home.
Soak clothing into water with detergent.
Don't go out unnecessarily. Stay home.

i read online somewhere that liquor stores are considered "essential" by law. so were golf courses for some reason
liquor stores makes sense, they sell alcohol. Not the kind of alcohol you want to spray onto a macbook, but its still better than coffee

Louis Rossman... The Bob Ross of Computer Repair
I don't believe I have heard Bob Ross swearing
10:50 wow. It pisses off the coil. I can imagine my teacher back when I was in school saying that. I prefer to use the water hammer analogy.
The inductor really, really wants the current to keep going just like it was. Newton's second law really wants the fluid to remain in motion. Half full, half empty, what's the difference? [engineer: the container is twice the size it needs to be.]
In regards to the testing of COVID-19, other countries haven't got it figured out. Australia has had a pretty short supply of them and my state in particular has suffered from that. Considering the USA is leading the world in numbers of confirmed cases, I'd say they're doing plenty of testing. But bear in mind, aren't like half or close to that of the confirmed cases in New York alone? I have a friend who lives there and he said it's pretty bad, I really feel for the people living in that state.
I hope your business survives all of this BS.
Good Luck ✊
Thank god for something normal in my life for now.
on the testing thing. its the same here in new zealand, if you have not had contact with someone that has it you can't get a test.
You just have to be cautious. If you don't know if you have it, consider you have it, just to be on the safe side. Because now tests are expensive, and especially in the US, not everybody can be tested. If you can't be tested, you can't really know if you have it or not. Then you have to consider you have it. If you don't you will be confined for nothing (that's annoying for sure), but if you have it, you will avoid spreading it.
Like anything in health, you have to look at the benefit/risk balance.
Yey I've missed your chat 👏🍀🇬🇧
Elevators and corona = A lethal combination !!! Stay safe on the way home.
Louis, what are your thoughts of New Yorkers leaving New York during this pandemic? Saw another UA-camr from New York leave for Dallas and she got a lot backlash for doing so. Looks like she took down that video of her leaving.
fogger Trump wanted to lock down the entire tri-state area around NY.
It's a touchy subject. How lockdown should an area be? How are you acting when you move to other places? How clean and hygienic are you being when you go to other places? How many people are you interacting with in these other places? It's too complex to be brought down to a single question, but from a PR standpoint, if her job is UA-cam, knowing what comments will be like, that was a really bad PR thing to do. If you are talking about that Sarah check for channel appears to be lots of your standard, cookie cutter do UA-cam for a living channels, formulaic titles, formulaic thumbnails, sponsors, PR is your job. If PR is your job, you f***** up by posting that video at this point in time

Hi Louis can you recommend a brand of USB microscope to me that I can use to examine the stylus of my turntable cartridge during playback?
there are a ton of cheap brands of these all over amazon but I have seen a few folks using them and they seem to suck by and large for image quality.
glad to see you taking great care to keep your shop disinfected during the pandemic for your customers and employees. Hope you guys stay safe and healthy
How do these boards get so corroded? Is it spillage or damp air getting in? It doesn't say much for the build quality of the casing.
Not only are tests in short supply, results take up to 5 days.
According to the World Health Organization:
"The “incubation period” means the time between catching the virus and beginning to have symptoms of the disease. Most estimates of the incubation period for COVID-19 range from 1-14 days, most commonly around five days. These estimates will be updated as more data become available."
So you might not know if you are positive for COVID-19 until you've been infecting others for up to 14 days.
One question: with the nastiness in some of these boards, does the air solder kill the RONA!?!?!?
Hello Louis and everyone. Hope you guys are keeping well.
i dreamed about you today 😅in my home fixing my macbook, i suffered with this macbook pro its killing me everyday,
when the device stays open more than 12 hours the problem (screen flickering) appear then i have to turn it off about 3 hours in order to it back to normal state.
Love your videos man. Is there a way to test the backlight output without the display connected? Long story short I have no display/cable that I trust to plug into my board. Will the backlight output pin still have a no-load voltage so I can make sure my board works before buying another display assy? Thanks
louis, dont you think that you contaminate too much the soldering juice using so much flux?, i mean, the perfect soldering juice of fruit is 40% Sn, 58% of Pb, 2% flux, using that flux too much you contaminate the juice, i know the gel flux is perfect to solder QFN chips but so much? greetings from spain!i learnt a lot with your videos thanks¡

I think S. Korea coped better because when put in isolation, they were tracked by phone and if they moved outside their quarantine zone or failed to provide their symptoms twice a day, the police were sent around to "enforce" quarantine. Can you see people in the US agreeing to this?

My State of Wi. pre. commercial drivers license gave you a chauffeurs license. You weren't allowed to be hired without it
if you were required to have it for the job. But the law said you could not obtain one unless you already had a job that required it. Keep in mind these are the people saving us from corvid19!
Someone very wisely noted that liquor stores ARE essential, if only for one other reason: If you're a severe alcoholic to the point of dependency, it is a VERY bad time for people to be going into the hospital for withdrawal. That could kill thousands just because of the added stress on the hospital system alone.
Dead addicts don't recover.
Why do so many Mac's have problems with corroded leads? I've worked in Corporate IT for Windows/Linux PC's and I've seen liquid spills on these machines and they still work after drying out. Mostly with Lenovo's and Dell's.

They deliberately aren't testing most people because it would cost too much and because it's not feasible with so few laboratories. The same thing happens here in Germany
