How Muslims DISTORT This Bible Verse!

  • Did you hear the one about the Quran claiming the New Testament actually predicted the arrival of Muhammad? It might sound like a stretch, but it's a belief held by many Muslims. In this video, we dive into the Bible verses that supposedly point to Muhammad in the New Testament particularly in John 16 and show why this argument should not be used by Muslim apologists.

    But the Bible does predict Muhammad. It has declared “beware of false prophets, who come to you in the garments of sheep, yet are, inwardly, ravenous wolves”

    What's funny is that Ibn Ishaq who wrote the oldest biography of Muhammed uses this verse to claim it's Muhammed. Which then would actually prove they referenced the Gospel of John as the Injil. So why appeal to the gospel if it isn't the Injil and the gospel was corrupted? When did the Gospel get corrupted then? They were using this verse to link it to Muhammed after his death? So, whether the Gospels were corrupted before his life, during or after, it still proves that Allah confirmed a corrupted book in the Quran and Muhammed and scholars referenced and appealed to corrupted Gospels. It's clear that this notion that the TEXT was corrupted wasn't a belief back then. It's a newer conspiracy theory out of desperation. Christians are the people of the book. We have to abide by our book. The Quran even says so.
    So...Allah basically created Christianity for us and let his words be corrupted and helped create the largest religion in the world instead of Islam during that time?
    These people have nothing left to stand on.

      In daniel 7, it mentions that the fourth beast (rome since it came after babylon, medopersia and macedonain greece) had ten horns when the little one came. Three horns earlier to the little one fell before it. Either it means there would have been 13 but because of 3 falling before the little one, there were 10 when the little one came. Or it means there were 10 including the fallen. In any case, the candidates are domitian (11th roman emperor) and hadrian (14th). Another indication for hadrian as opposed to domitian is he seems to be an antitype of little horn of the 3rd empire (antichous iv) as both went against the Most High by putting abomination in His holy ground.

    • @cowdyayaad6378
      @cowdyayaad6378 15 днів тому

      It also says from the little one, the holy people would be at his hand (rome's control) for time, times and half time until the dominion goes to the hand of saints of the Most High. In daniel 12, we see the same phrase time, times and half time (whether it is a related prophecy or different I don't know but I am only concerned about the meaning of this unit of time in danielic angelic language) used for either 1290 days (i.e. years in danielic biblical language) or 1335. But the apparent meaning is 1335 since daniel wanted to know the end and angel told blessed are those who wait for that long with 1290 being a milestone of some sort.

    The History of the Idea of a Literal Connection between the Words " Ahmad " and " Paraclete " in the Qur'an and the Gospel of John
    So you can search for it.
    Short version : The idea that the gospel was changed is actually a 19th century rationalization.
    The original reason was that the people who originally started the rumor couldn't read Greek, but they could read Aramaic (which is very similar to Arabic). Some Aramaic versions left it untranslated, causing the Muslims to assume it must have had some secret meaning. Some other translations gave an Aramaic translation, which happens to sound vaguely like Mohammed. They put it together and concluded that the secret meaning was actually Mohammed all along. No corruption of Greek required - just ignorance and confirmation bias.

    To be fair John did prophesy Muhammed (as well as many other prophets and teachers) but it was in a different book. 1 John 4 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God"
    Muhammed was deceived (according to his own words) by a spirit not of God (so a demon most likely) that Jesus Christ was not of God but just a prophet and teacher, and therefore all of Islam was foretold and warned about. Galatians 1:8 also predicted many false religions like Islam would come when he again warns people like Muhammed to not be deceived by demons saying that if even an angel (as Muhammed claimed visited him) came and spoke any other gospel than to let them be accursed.

    There is one prophecy of Muhammed in the Bible I could attest. Muhammed was said to be of Ishmael according to Islamic tradition. Let's see what the Bible foretells:
    "The angel of YHWH proceeded: “Behold, you have conceived and will bear a son. And you shall name him *Ishmael* , for YHWH has heard your cry of affliction. He will be *a wild donkey of a man* , and his hand will be *against everyone* , and everyone’s hand against him; he will live in *hostility toward all his [Abrahamic] brothers* ” - Genesis 16:11-12
    Might not be what kind of prophecy one wants to hear, but hey there you go, descendant of Ishmael... a wild donkey of man who fights the other descendants of Abraham (Jews and Christians).

But Jesus predicted those things in the Gospels they reference. So one out of two things is true: Jesus is a false prophet, therefore his predictions of Mohammed were bogus. OR, Jesus was crucified, is the Son of God, thus nullifying the entire Quran. Is the Quran wrong about Jesus being a prophet, or is the Quran wrong about Jesus being crucified and resurrected?

    All of this is true - especially that we have not just scraps but entire complete Bibles that predate Mohammed by hundreds of years, which show no evidence of alteration, and which are geographically diverse.
    There is one problem though. Christianity also has a long history of plucking verses out of context to use as prophecies. Isaiah 7:14, 9:6 and especially Matthew 2:23 (where he has to make a wordplay on the original, not even a direct quote) are obvious examples.
    Doing this sort of thing wasn't really rare in Jewish tradition either. The literal meaning, the hinted interpretation, the meaning gained by rabbinic interpretation, and finally the hidden meaning. Jews call this "Pardes." (Whether this was a widespread Jewish tradition in the first century is uncertain. Philo was doing it - that guy again - but I've argued at length that he only influenced Christianity and was mostly independent of orthodox Judaism. So ideally there would be independent evidence of other Jews doing this).
    So, unfortunately, as a whole most prophecy tends to be kind of squishy and Muslims can't really be faulted for doing this.
    Of course there are much clearer prophecies of Jesus as well...

  • @matthewnitz8367
    @matthewnitz8367 19 днів тому

    Sounds reasonable. Now let's do Isaiah 53 and Jesus in the same manner. You say that "Parakletos" isn't open to interpretation since in an earlier verse in John 14 Parakletos is clearly identified as the Holy Spirit. Now let's look at the "servant" in Isaiah 53. Is this servant clearly identified in any earlier verse in Isaiah? Yes, it does specifically identify this servant in Isaiah 49:3 saying "He said to me, 'You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.'" Does this mean the servant can't refer to anyone else? No, I think all Christians would agree the term "servant" appears to be used to refer to individuals as well, and would specifically say that at least some of the time when talking about the servant it is referring to Jesus. So if it is possible for a term to be used to refer to one thing in one verse, and another in another, how does the fact that "Parakletos" is used in an earlier verse in John to most likely refer to the Holy Spirit demonstrate that it can't be referring to Muhammad in another? In fact, in 1 John 2:1 the term "Parakletos" is specifically used to refer to Jesus instead, so we have clear evidence this term is not limited to refer only to a single entity. As such, the argument of "this term was used to refer to a different entity in a different verse and therefore can't mean Muhammad in this verse" doesn't appear very compelling when applying the same standards.
    Next you point out that there are verses with Jesus referring to God as Father, which would be seen as essentially a form of heresy in Islam. Similarly though, I've never seen a good Christian explanation for what Isaiah 53:11 is referring to in saying that "by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many", or the alternate possible translation "Out of his anguish he shall see, he shall find satisfaction through his knowledge". I'm aware of the POSSIBLE apologetics, but they appear to me to be ad hoc rationalizations to make the data fit with the preferred conclusion rather than the most likely intended meaning. And with either translation, it sounds like the work of Christ is in some way effective through knowledge, which sounds a lot like what many Christians would call gnostic heresies. And indeed has been used as a proof text by gnostics like the Ebionites. Obviously there are apologetics as to why this is not what is meant that I'm sure you could bring up. I notice, however, you did not bring up many of the other typical Islamic apologetics for why Jesus would call God father, and chose to focus a huge amount of time instead on refuting what I would say is probably the weakest and most obviously wrong apologetic of "the text is corrupted".
    I've seen Muslims say that it is not shirk specifically to refer to God as father, but that it should be avoided because it can result in thinking of God as an earthly father rather than as his true nature of absolute Lord and Creator of all. And that shirk is specifically about the INTENTION of thinking about God in terms of an actual father in a way that does not correctly acknowledge his absolute authority being different from an earthly father. Since shirk is about intention, and we can't see Jesus' intention from these verses, it would be impossible to demonstrate that Jesus committed shirk. I've also seen the explanation that this is commanded because Muslims are not to imitate Christians per Muhammad in At-Tirmithi, and calling God "father" would be an imitation of Christians. So it's not like Muslims have completely contradictory ideas that have no possible apologetics that could ever be given, while Christianity has only completely clear references to Jesus without any theological difficulties that ever need to be explained.
    Now I do agree that it appears that the author of the verse in John almost certainly did not intend what they had written to be a prediction about Muhammad. I would just say that applying the exact same kind of standards to Isaiah 53, it appears that the author of those verses almost certainly did not originally intend them to be understood as a prophecy of a future Messiah, much less specifically about Jesus. Another important point here that didn't really fit in my comparison to your argument, but still seems very important to me, is the frequent use of past tense in Isaiah 53; he WAS despised, he WAS wounded for our transgressions, he WAS oppressed, etc. And even more telling, how it then SWITCHES to future tense to say that he WILL find satisfaction through his knowledge, he WILL be allotted a portion with the great. Obviously people can make apologetics about this being "prophetic past tense" for the first part, or some such explanation. But a plain reading of the text seems to obviously point to this being a person/people that HAD experienced suffering at the time of writing and then WOULD be vindicated/used by God to achieve the salvation of Israel/other nations. And that absolutely appears to be how the verse was read by its original audience and later generations before Jesus as well. To make this a prophecy you have to say that although the original author and audience did not understand that was what the verses meant, that is how God actually intended them to be understood after they were fulfilled. Always a bad sign when you have to retroject events that occur back into a prophecy after the fact in order to understand it "correctly". And Muslims could make this exact same sort of move with respect to John 16:13, along with the apologetics referenced above.

    This is quite the video to look into. I must say, the video does a good job of explaining its points in an easy to understand way. But, This video has some flaws that I hope to explain this comment (A lot of them are just the video arguing with itself). I myself may not 100% agree with the verse of John 16 as evidence to Muhammed (sAw), I do think this video brings up some bad defenses.
    The argument that the video brought up at 3:59 is not really a valid one. Claiming the argument is circular because the video put down a stupid conclusion does not mean that Muslims have no point here. This is just the video arguing with itself.
    At 4:10 the video brings up a point that there is no evidence to show that John 14-16 was altered. The video tries to prove this by saying that "every scrap of textual evidence we have shows that Jesus here is calling God his father" but proceeds to not show a single example of "every scrap".
    At 4:50 the video tries to prove that Jesus called God HIS father, by showing examples of Jesus calling God THE father. I am sure there are probably other ways the video could try to prove that Jesus called God his father, this was definitely not one of the better ones.
    At 5:27 the video goes on to say that Paul was legitimate in what he says about Jesus' godhood because he was around the apostles and elders. The main issue with this is that there is no way to prove the trinity was the original thought. This is because of where the idea was officiated, and that is the First Council of Nicaea. Held in 325, the council was put together by Constantine I to try to get facts together about Jesus and the Bible. There were to opposing views about the trinity, and those were of Arius and Alexander. Arius preached that the trinity was not real, and that God was 1 with no equals, while Alexander preached of the trinity. Alexander brought to the council local bishops from Libya, his country of origin. The issue with that is it can lead us to assume there is cultural bias with who the bishops would agree with, and that of course was Alexander. Arius refused to change his beliefs, and so Alexander excommunicated and exiled both Arius and his followers (That doesn't sound corrupt at all!). And thus the idea of the trinity was formed. This leaves us at the point where you cannot really prove whether the Bible included ideas of a trinity originally, because in doing so, you would need a Bible from the year 300. The modern Bible has been revised and edited by King James, so no, it is not the same one. Paul very well could have been legitimate, but we can't prove what he originally wrote/said about the trinity.
    I definitely do not think that this verse was the best verse to prove Muhammed (sAw) in the Bible, but this video did not have the best accuracies so far. Video was easy to follow though. If you read through this whole comment, thank you for your time.
