Bar and lines might still be good (but tangled)....kite is probably washed up on shore somewhere and shredded. Hopefully someone finds it and at least gets it out of the river...one less big piece of plastic/trash 😊
Appreciate that last message at the end. I haven’t been able to walk since July 11th due to a motorcycle accident. My foot should be healed enough to start pt in a few months. I will never take for granted even walking on the beach again never mind catching some waves…man kite surfing looks so fun. Might have to hang up the helmet for a kite..🤔
I do olympic windsurfing and the gear costs 10 grand. Although my foil sunk a few weeks ago, nothing that big hasn't happened to me. Glad that you are safe!

Glad you got back in without too much issue! I’ve broken a bunch of those slider ropes. I have a backup rigged so that when it snaps, it catches immediately and I can keep riding! You can connect it to the free ride loop on that mystic spreader.

It was my fault, the rope was a bit frayed from years of use and I didn’t notice…

Why didn’t anyone rescue your gear? Your dad didn’t get your board? No one chased down your kite? Sounds really strange.
Strange for sure that no one saw my board. I was baffled. But… It was averaging 40 knots and swell was pumping. I was alone where I fell and Dad was focused on rescuing me. By the time my friend got to me, board was no where in sight and kites with lines still attached are much too gnarly to grab during conditions like that

Why don’t kite surfers use a leash with their board?
Because if it falls away in the air it could fly back and hit you
Only use a leash if it’s really big and losing your board can put you in danger, otherwise a leash is a danger to yourself by getting the board slingshotted back to your head eventually
