This is a cool video and the trip looks awesome but it's way too obvious where this is and anyone with google maps can now find your hidden wave... took me about 10 mins. Should have shown way less landmarks. also to add, this isn't me hating just think as a surfer you should understand the value of keeping waves secret and out of respect to the locals who showed you
It took me more like 15 minutes. Then again, the wave doesn't seem to be "secret" in any way, as it's listed in every surf guide I've looked through in a hurry. I guess the video is generating interest, which could lead to a rush of new surfers, but given that it's a very remote island, I wouldn't guess that many surfers will dare to make the trip....
WTF mate why would you release this spot idiot. This place can not sustain surf tourism on the level that we now see at surf breaks in 2022 . The locals on the island do not have the facilities to provide for the average surf tourist . They can barely afford to import enough food and supplies for themselves you should really think about removing this video as soon as you can to minimise the impact on one of the few places in the world that is an escape from crowds .I have seen firsthand what over tourism has done in similar parts of this region and had long conversations with locals. It is better off leaving this place to nature and the few lucky surfers like yourself who stumble across it. JOB 🏄🏻♂️would not be psyched on this 😢
The Caribbean is like this. Secret little unknown coves, points, reefs, and shore break. All you need is a boat and the adventure begins. Here in Maryland we have islands south of Assateague Island National Seashore that with a boat have untapped waves with nobody that can even surf them without a boat as well.
This Place is far from unknown but there is a reason nobody surfs it. White shark heaven over there. I am surprised your airbnb owner didn’t tell you. Several fatal attacks in the last decade. Be careful out there bro, thanks for the Video :)
The sharks are attracted by the residues of the cockerel farming operation in the lagoon. Mainly during migration time in gulfstream in spring and autumn. The incidents with surfers that happened in the past (quite a few according to local newspapers) had bad outcomes because an injured surfer has to be transported out by quadbike, then car, then plane, then again car to reach a proper hospital. That means you don't even want to twist an ankle there.
So the local give you information about some waves on the island he lives on, and you failed doing your only job to keep it somewhat secret... The satellite view wasn't necessary AT ALL. You're doing exactly the opposite of what you're saying in the description. You could have uploaded the same video without the google maps shit and saying that it's in the Atlantic it would have been a lot better.
Besides knowing where this is. Is no one going to talk about the elephant in the video? He literally spent an ass load of money traveling, to an uncrowded wave in a remote location, only to be dropped in on by one of he’s friends. So no matter where you go, unless you surf alone you’re gonna be dropped in on. By the way the island is Villa do Porto and the airport is Santa Maria Airport. Call letters SMA
Has permission of OG local numbnuts. OG local will welcome anybody that puts in the time & money. Hardly a 'perfect wave' & crowds won't be an issue for him (OG local) or his mates.
a sip' of diet coke and they feel like re-inventing the wheel ! Meuuuricaaa haha. Place was first surfed by american anyway (historical US military base nearby) nowadays it's on every surf map, surfcamp in front of the wave, and a european pro trip every year (minimum), usualy when the international comp' is on nearby... how uneducated, self-centered ignorant, one must be to feel this story ?
Hey man awesome video, but if you really wanna prevent people from going to said island, I would recommend not showing it on google earth. Took me about 30 seconds to find it on google earth after you showed it haha.
i was there in 2000 and even around that time it was not a secret at all! Nowadays there is even a surfcamp there! Nice you did not mention names...beside for any real waverider ...it does not take too much to find the location! anyway... i love more the place than the wave itself
A gem. Hey Jackson, now go the the Lineup podcast, the Yin and Yang of Gerry Lopez, and jump forward to minute 45, and listen to Gerry--who invented soul surfing.
Great vid! This reminds me when I was in Sri Lanka many years ago, where now, apparently it’s crowded and has been for sometime. The quads remind me of tuk tuks drives in Sri Lanka I did with my brother, getting to breaks with no one insight. Amazing
I met you once when you we were groms in oahu, it blows my mind seeing you now! Did you go to school for film? How could someone like me get into filming there life? just trying to pursue a dream that I do not know how to create.
Much love and appreciation for the work you do braddah it’s always inspiring watching you and your crew live your guys life to the fullest it’s pushing and striving .
Just wave shots and love. Google makes it easy to find waves these days. If you really want to find something new you have to go to remote places and look for them.
My friend im portuguese and my father goes to that place with his friends just like you and this was in 1989 so they found that place along time ago but yes everything there is magic
You actually surprised me. You definitely made it harder to find with the Information you gave but someone who puts in a small amount of time will find it. Spots close and similar to i are even on wannasurf so I dont think you are revealing something really secret. Great video and amazing editing.
Bro, this is fucking amazing! One of the few videos on here that really gets one going. Would like to see your channel grow, becaus you fucking deserve ist.
Bro why are tou doing this….there’s a reason why this wave is uncrowded…wtf…i went there twice and didnt told a soul…people do everything for the views

Good adventure. This spot was featured in The Surfer's Journal a few year back... but obviously still under the radar. Thanks for keeping clues minimal.
You just inspired the sh*t out of me Jackson ! This is what it’s all about, finding secret spots with your boys, it doesn’t get better. Love the story line instead of the repetitive Vlog style. Amazing job, sending nothing but stoke and positive vibes from southern Cali yewwww ! Alby, 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🌴🤙🏼

I fully agree👏
Whatever... don't use the internet then
Well he kinda messed up the Islands locations on purpose. And nowadays you only miss it if you want to miss it 👌🏻.
Either way, you can come visit 😃

I stumbled upon it and didn't know other people surfed it so, with all of the creativity I had, I called it Hammerhead.
this is definitely Ortley Beach NJ
Well, there is always a reason why it's not crowded. The spot is well known. But also well known for fatal shark attacs.
it's not the spot that you're thinking of, there has been no recorded shark attacks there
Zero sharks attack here ever
please tell us more about the sharks. the first think i thought of was WHY nobody is surfing and I thought about large fish with sharp teeth
The sharks are attracted by the residues of the cockerel farming operation in the lagoon. Mainly during migration time in gulfstream in spring and autumn. It’s not the spot that you’re thinking of ma bruu, I’ve been to these islands
"I found a world class wave that nobody knows about" except the real pioneer that told me about it!!

I ve been there several times and there s actually a local surfing culture and comunity at the spot… wich has been well known for decades
True!
I stumbled upon it and didn't know other people surfed it so, with all of the creativity I had, I called it Hammerhead.
thank you for keeping this magical place in secret!!! Big hug from Portugal SICKOS!
I stayed there once for about three weeks. Wonderful people, food, fish and waves. Candle-lit nights, BIG walks haha.
You dah best!

After 30 minutes I finally found the wave. It looks absolutely EPIC!! So cool to see you guys surfing it.

Love the storytelling!
This video feels like a short preview of a movie in an IMAX theater.
There's been couple of films of surfing here already. They haven't bothered in keeping it's location secret. Respect for keeping it quiet.
Thanks man, had a fun time telling the story 🤙🏽
Gains trust of OG local -> details secret location and flight itinerary to thousands on YT. Well done 👍

Epic adventure, almost, I mean, almost the perfect wave...IMHO the perfect wave is also in warm water, no wet suit, maybe tropical.😁
This made me realize how much life is about chasing that dragon you can’t catch. Sometimes it’s a healthy addiction and other times it’s not
Straight up 💯
I would love to go there even if I couldn't surf. Magnificent and dramatic scenery!
Jackson, you don't realize how many of us get inspired not only by your work but your views on life, amazing work dude! Keep it rolling
