  • We spent an evening in Crater Lake National Park in early August and completed the Rim Drive around the entire lake! This was one of the highlights from our time in Oregon.

    Clockwise is the best way to drive around the lake, 99% of the overlook pullouts will be on the right side and you don't have to constantly cross a lane.

    I've been fascinated by the park (which I have never visited) since I was a boy, when I saw it in a 60's edition of National Geographic magazine. Visiting is the closest thing I have to a bucket list ambition.

    Crater lake looks so beautiful and clear. The elevation on those small hikes will put you out of breath. I was wondering how many days to stay there. I was thinking 2-3 days. So I was in the ball park what you was thinking.

      I think I was editing our Olympic Peninsula video while recording the day in the life! That was the one with 300 or so clips to sort through. I grocery shop once a week, typically. Pretty much the same as when we lived in a house, just have to be really careful to make sure we don't overbuy!

    Been there many times on the Harley (I live near Olympia, WA). It's a super deep lake - like almost 2,000 ft deep. Spectacular views though. Glad you guys saw it. When you guys were in the Olympic Peninsula (Washington), did you make up to Hurricane Ridge by any chance?

    Just curious when you did the rim drive. Would it be possible for a vehicle to accidentally fall off the rim and into the lake? Just curious if possibly a missing car ended up in here. Or is this extremely unlikely? I have been using Google earth wondering if what I saw was a car underwater.

  • @donf1526

    When you are filming on the road, talking in the cab with Cole driving, are you usually filming with a Go-Pro - or a phone? Just curious, cuz it's clean footage.

    Important question: Can the lake be enjoyed by someone who will not be hiking? I flipped over my electric scooter and landed on my knees a month ago, so I’m still having issues with inclines/declines. I can walk around normally, but going up and down takes me forever. I’m making the trek on my own and won’t be able to get away from the wolves.

    • @WorkinfortheWild
      @WorkinfortheWild  2 роки тому

      Absolutely! Most of the spots around the lake require no walking. You just park and take in the views. We only had to hike to get to the swimming spot

    What do you all do with the pups while you hike? That’s a limiting factor for us when dogs aren’t allowed and it’s too hot to leave them behind in the RV.

    • @WorkinfortheWild
      @WorkinfortheWild  2 роки тому +2

      Good question. We brought them on this little adventure and just left them in the car for the short 2 mile hike. It was cool enough that evening so we weren’t worried. Sometimes we’ll leave the truck running with the AC on if it’s too hot, just as long as it’s only for a short period of time. It’s always something we have to think about and sometimes it does limit what we can do.
