- Tony, Justin, and Rocco from Mega64 jack into their construct and review The Matrix! In this movie review/podcast of this 1999 cyberpunk classic they will talk about all the things that still make the movie awesome! Like the ground breaking special effects, the deep philosophical story, and the killer soundtrack!
Neo (Keanu Reeves) believes that Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), an elusive figure considered to be the most dangerous man alive, can answer his question -- What is the Matrix? Neo is contacted by Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), a beautiful stranger who leads him into an underworld where he meets Morpheus. They fight a brutal battle for their lives against a cadre of viciously intelligent secret agents. It is a truth that could cost Neo something more precious than his life.

Bar scene in Desperado is definitely in my top 5 shoot outs along with all of Machete.

I saw this movie in the cinema. I love the Kung Fu action, the bullet time effects, and the sets in the movie. Not bad for "Dark City with Martial Arts."

I KNOW WHAT JUSTIN WAS TALKING ABOUT! It was a dwarf in Vegas who was being arrested for disturbing through traffic, and first he tried climbing a street light (to where?). When they cuffed him, he tried to break out of them twice. Later he did Kung-Fu Mini-Me style escape back-flips. It was the greatest thing I will ever see.
I worked at a movie theater when this movie came out. Two people showed up and wanted to watch the trailer, they said their daughter was in the film. I let them in and afterwards asked them who their daughter was, they said: "Carrie-Anne Moss."

The Matrix as a franchise was definitely a much better example of a multi-media expanded universe done well. Unlike, say, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker where "somehow Palpatine returned" and it's quote-unquote """teased""" in the completely unrelated Fortnite and quote-unquote """explained""" in some random ass one-off comic.

The robot is called "nanny" they are meant to ensure pods stay active and if they wake they are put back to sleep..but neo taking the red pill not only was able to find his location but also makes the "nanny" reject you and then get ejected..
In the opening scene, you can see that the backdrop skyline is Nashville. I only noticed because it's my hometown. Then in The 6th Day, that exact same image is used again outside of the bad guy's office. I guess it was just laying around the studio storage free to use.
Love when Tony busts out his "robotic" dance moves.
It's cool Justin also likes Cyberpunk 2077. I think it's a fun game.

ATTENTION TONY: KEANU DOES A WHOA IN DRACULA. It's when Dracula turns into a bat after he feeds Mina and he swings down from the ceiling and squeals at them. Keanu swings something at him and goes "WHOA!!!"

I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison. A giant computer takes over the world and keeps the last three humans alive for entertainment.
Yeah that same story was the first invention of a world dominating supercomputer that massacred most of humanity. Harlan Ellison even famously sued the terminator franchise because Skynet is a rip-off of AM. The only reason the Matrix didn't get sued is because the machines dont have a main brain (other than agent Smith).

I miss seeing Newt in these Premiering thumbnails. I still go back for laughs and listen to the Ghostbusters 2 and the Friday the 13th episodes when I’m at work, probably the episodes I’ve watched (or listened to) the most. Tony and Newt were on their A-game in those. I’m fine with these other cats on here though.

Okay so I know this is an older video but I'm brand new to the channel. I just wanted to clarify something about the sprinkler systems I'm a trained firefighter the sprinklers will only go off if heat is directed on that certain sprinkler head. So no there was a fire in the bottom of the building the top of the building sprinklers would not go off in real life

When Smith says "the informant is real", he's talking about Cypher. Saying that Cypher has already started selling out the resistance. Cypher was supposed to meet the Agents which is why the line was tapped

Supposedly in the original script the computers were using human brains as memory space, but some producers didn't like that idea for some reason.
I think they said it was too abstract or something, so they said to use the battery thing to make it more obvious to audiences

I could see someone being influenced by The Matrix. If media didn't influence us, companies wouldn't spend millions of dollars on commercials.
I actually never heard of this movie until my cousin brought his VHS rented copy to my house. Totally missed the marketed.
Instead of tumble weeds in the subway fight they had newspapers.
I get 2 hits on the Metacoretex deal, 1st theory is that Neo and his coworkers are literally the computer tech staff, 2nd is Morphious changed the matrix to leave the scaffold where it was or his crew were the window washers, for a company that obviously has some confidential info on there computer screens the window guys could watch and see passwords and such, seems like they would be washing the windows at night when nobody but maintenance is in the building.

For me it’s always been that first movie and the freeway chase of the second movie. The Animatrix was kinda aight.
I always assumed cypher had a program to control jacking him into the matrix and getting him out, because where he is working with the agents he didn't need an operator to be able to hack things on the fly depending on what happens. He already knew when and where he's going to get in and out and the agents are allowing it, so nothing will go wrong and cause the plan to be changed as things happen.

I think the fact it made over 5 hundred million with a budget of 175 mil means there were people that saw ready player one.
Rocco touched on it, why the battery thing makes no sense. It wasn't the wachowskis it was an executive. An executive said that the concept of chaining together a bunch of humans for processing power didn't make a lot of sense to them and would be too complicated for the average viewer.
Using people as computers makes a lot of sense and eliminates a lot of the confusion and little gaps in the plot. I don't think anyone's ever heard the Wachowski say anything, because they are notoriously tight-lipped about the Matrix series. Even the audio commentary is done by other people, and I don't think they do very many interviews

I think from that in the 4th matrix Neo made a matrix movie in the matrix. And is a huge hit and now he’s gonna make a sequel and everything is just movie vs real life kinda thing 🤷🏻♂️
One of the things that I've always hated about the sequel movies is that in the original film, it is stated ad nauseum that when you see an Agent, you run. Full stop. And that ONLY Neo/The One has the ability to manipulate the Matrix to, as Trinity says, "move like they do" and fight them head-to-head. Yet, Revelations and Revolutions in an effort to go ever bigger, has EVERYBODY fighting Agents left and right like it was never really a thing.
They threw their own lore right out the window.
Also...Tony is the ONLY person I've heard say that The Mandalorian is boring. 🙄 But, then again, he defines himself through trolling so...
