- Tony, Joe, and Johanna return for ALIENS! The sequel to Alien. In this movie review/podcast they will talk about why its a great sequel. Everything from the jump forward the movie took with special effects, how they pulled off amazing stuff on a relatively small budget, and how the movie came out so good despite the problems that were happening behind the scenes.
After floating in space for 57 years, Lt. Ripley's (Sigourney Weaver) shuttle is found by a deep space salvage team. Upon arriving at LV-426, the marines find only one survivor, a nine year old girl named Newt (Carrie Henn). But even these battle-hardened marines with all the latest weaponry are no match for the hundreds of aliens that have invaded the colony.

Joe's definitely becoming one of my favs hopefully he stays a steady regular. And I think he likes found footage movies he likes Apollo 18 and always talks about Blair witch 2016 which I just watched and actually enjoyed it quite a bit.
He really does seem like a good dude.

All the more impressive Sigourney got an Oscar nod for this: NOBODY, or near NOBODY, gets nominated for an action role (one exception may be Tommy Lee Jones for THE FUGITIVE)
Damn it made over ten times its money back
I was exposed to this movie through the arcade game. I love the marines, especially Hudson and Hicks. The Xenomorph ambush was awesome. I met Michael Biehn at the 2013 Port City Pop Con.
This was the first movie from the franchise I ever saw.
I expected the other movies to be just like this with frantic action scenes from beginning to end.
I was kinda disappointed when they weren't but that just proves how unique Aliens is to the franchise.
This one is definitely my favorite in the series. Every AVP game basically takes in this version of Aliens! Love it!
Avp extinction for ps2 was legit addictive

Oh you guys definitely need to do Pitch Black for an alien movie. That's an underrated classic.

Pitch Black is scary, well-acted, has believable characters, memorable and appropriate music. I really wish Dark Fury had been filmed live-action.

47:28 Nice 'Tremors' reference there, Joe La Scola. I think it was lost on Tony and Johanna or they didn't react / reaction was cut. It kind of feels like a cut there, but the reference was appreciated. M.R.E.s from Burt Gummer. I think Burt would be at home in this cast. He would be the one nuking the site from orbit with WAY too much explosive.

Am I the only one that doesn't really care for the flying graboids? Also the 5th one in the series..i don't know. The actress playing the veterinarian(Pearl Thusi) is gorgeous though, so at least there's that.
MAN Joe with the surprise Predator Concrete Jungle love. I played that game the entirety of the summer it came out. Absolutely adore it
Great game but damn hard
I have a weird personal connection to this movie. In the deleted scene about Ripley's daughter, Paul Reiser's character explains where she is buried. The town he mentions is Little Chute, Wisconsin. I was born and raised there. It is about 30 miles south of Green Bay, Wisconsin. I never figured out why they choose my home town. I am guessing some one from Little Chute worked on the movie.

I think I'd have to say I like Alien more overall. I prefer the crew of the Nostromo to the colonial marines, and there's a greater sense of mystery in the first movie. But I'll admit I have to be in the mood to watch Alien because it _is_ kind of slow. Aliens, on the other hand, I can watch just about whenever.
This kept me busy while stuck in the Calgary Airport live the jo-jo adventure squad
Alien is the better sci-fi movie. Aliens is the better action movie.

HAPPY ALIEN DAY!!!!! loved this. Also Joe and Tony need to have a debate on movies. Of course have a debate on ghostbusters LOL. The judge should be either Jessica or Johanna. I would choose Crystal but home girl is always busy.

There's a xenomorph infestation at HACK THE GAME OVER! Tony, Joe, and Johanna are held up in the video room talking about "Aliens" while Crystal Ripley, Kieran Hicks, & Justin Hudson take out the monsters and Queen.

I saw the puppet queen up close as a child, power loader, a lot of the JP stuff too as if was Stan Winston exhibit. Alien is my preference but I saw ALIENS countless amounts growing up. And now actually. Viva the Tony Johanna and Joe team

Those were some neat plot holes you mentioned towards the end. Regarding how the alien queen had time to lay the egg, other than the fact that they were clearly on the ship for a while before it took off oh, the ship is really big cording to the exterior shots. I always got the impression in the alien universe that in order for the ships to be able to travel at the speeds they did and for other reasons, they were really really big because most of it was machinery.
Likewise I always assumed that Ripley was able to still hold on at least in part because I thought the ship had artificial gravity. You don't see a rotating cylinder anywhere on the exterior which means in order for them to be sticking to anything there has to have been a gravitational pull and maybe that gave her an edge

1960 HG Wells The Time Machine is my all time favorite SCI - FI film and Aliens is my 2nd favorite SCI - FI movie and the directors cut makes Aliens even better super long it has a run time around

Hate to point this out but Lance Henriksen did not die from a Alien he was ripped in half but still living and only died in Alien 3 cause he was damaged beyond repair and asked Ripley to turn him off. So Bill Paxton is still the only one to be killed by a Predator, Alien and Terminator.
This is one of the few movies about monster aliens where all the parts people remember the best have nothing to do with the monster aliens at all. People mainly remember actual character moments, which is the sign of a legitimately good movie to me.
People SAY Henrikson got killed by a Predator, a Terminator and an Alien, but I forget. Didn't he SURVIVE being ripped in half by the Xenomorph Queen? I remember his upper half holding someone by the arm so they don't get sucked away. Did he die in that movie at some point? Did I miss something? EDIT: Because if he DIDN'T, then Bill still keeps his mantle.
The Joe-Duo is the way to go. Izzo.

The James Horner music at the end was a pastiche of John Williams...which was a pastiche of Gustav Holst "Mars". Come on guys...know your history! :)
Lance Henricksen is in Abominable, Sasquatch, AND Sasquatch Mountain. I met Cerina Vincent at a con a few years ago and she had a lot of nice things to say about him when filming Sasquatch Mountain with him.
As far as their attitude goes the marines actually draft from prisons in this era. That's how Drake and Vasquez know each other as far as I can recall. They have a choice of serving in the USCMC or serving their sentence. Not all marines are but some are. I love this fucking movie. It's my favorite of all time.

Hey guys,I enjoyed and i know this was shown 2 years ago but your content of this episode is awesome and I was checking this episode because I really like people who gets into movies like Aliens and and I also like their own opinions on a movie like Aliens which is my favorite movie out the series as and yes I will go see Aliens Romulus once it comes out which I will enjoy, Also I will say that I do like the prequels and yes they weren't the greatest but im such a sci-fi action movie guy and a huge movie buffer as well,So hey keep up the amazing job on movie reviews.

It's hinted in 3 that newt got impregnated by a face hugger when she was in the hive and thats how they crashed. There's also a chance that Ripley did get impregnated back when they were trapped in that room by burk.

Tapes? I used VCR tapes to time shift ordinary TV shows of the time. The cost of a VHS tape of "Alien" (1979) was a bit too expensive back then, so I looked at Laserdisc, instead. I saw "Aliens" (1986) in the same ex-Cinerama theater that had shown "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) and "Star Wars" (1977.) When Ripley and "Rebecca" met in the latter's hideout on LV-426, I wondered how she was able to "get close, quickly" to the traumatized survivor. A reviewer at the time said: "Sisterhood!" I didn't buy it, and when I got the Special Edition Laserdisc(!) the extra scenes made it clear how they were connecting.
Best direct sequel to the original ever made - along with Godfather II and Empire Strikes Back. Henriksen was also in Abominable (2005)

The part with no bullets shows that Ripley is smart and observant, Burke is knowledgeable and Gorman is a total drip. He knows why they cannot use bullets and gets flustered. He could call them back and rearm or he could explain the situation and have them press on, but with standing orders to withdraw from the plant on enemy contact. Instead he just tells them the prohibition. In the heat of combat you cannot explain orders, but all he needed to say was "Sgt Apone, your explosive-tipped rounds could rupture the coolant for the nuclear power plant and cause it to blow up, don't use them!" Marines realising a stray explosion will cause a nuclear explosion around them WILL be motivated to not cause explosions.
Next, you should do the William Gibson Alien 3 audiobook.

@1:33:20 the discussion about "how'd she get an egg in there". William Gibson has a great take on it in his Alien III script that never saw the light of day. I have a head cannon in which the queen still has immature, tiny "eggs" in her body, and she could easily just leave one ot two of them lying around in hopes they mature to facehugger stage.

Oh yeah Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection and then Prometheus and Alien Covenant.
The episodes I don't watch are usually the new movies because i don't want spoilers, or because I don't care about them. Otherwise I noticed that all the episodes I don't finish usually have Crystal and/or Johanna, regardless of what movie it is. I love Ginger Snaps and The Ring, but I can't stand hearing them talk about it. Just being real.

Fox released the director's cut of Alien years ago. Cameron just released the special edition of The Abyss on the big screen. I WANT Aliens: Special Edition released in theaters
I think there's a scene where Bishop grabs Newt towards the end... and you can see the huge hole cut out in the ground beneath him...I think. I haven't watched it forever. ☹️

With the sentry part I just thought the aliens stop because they realized there numbers were plummeted that's why they started cocooning the soilders
The Alien Queen can fit in the ship at the end because that type of ship was the same dropship that carries the armored vehicle in the first act so it had a ton of room to hide.
I’m pretty sure it’s in one of the landing leg openings that gets stuck from the metal Bishop runs into, though. Like, she doesn’t get in through the vehicle door. Unless it’s all connected inside. And just to be clear, it doesn’t bother me at all either way, haha. -Joe
The Queen wasn't in the APC compartment of the Drop Ship, it was inside the ships rear landing gear, which is also where the alien egg is hidden.
HR Giger himself was totally impressed with the Queen
I heard that Ridley Scott has said that Alien and Blade Runner take place in the same universe.
Does this mean all Aliens movies are?
Do the time-lines add up?
It would be a huge time difference since Blade Runner takes place in 2019, and Alien in 2122.
Alien vs predator extinction for ps2 was pretty damn fun and had the vibe of this movie mixed with predator vibes
Predator concrete jungle was awesome
Apone is definitely my favorite. His whole character inspired Sgt. Avery Johnson from Halo. That and I think Carl's character from Predator.
