First, these pizza prices are STUPID, even in Manhattan, even in 2024. Second, there is NO golden rule of "just one topping" in NYC. That's ridiculous. Sausage and pepper? Meatballs and onions? UA, you heard of these? They're delicious, and New Yorkers love them!
Yeah, I lived in Brooklyn for the first 24 years of my life and I never, once, heard that "just one topping" rule UA mentioned. In fact, I saw many, many times, people putting 3 or 4 toppings on their pies or slices. One topping PFFFFFT, come on UA :D
Truth be told, there's this granny pizza that's served cold. Tomatoes, no cheese. There was this Italian bakery on my street, I would buy a slice on my way to school, .10 cents. (1969) "Pizza al Pomodoro". It's a fluffy soft crust and plenty of chunky tomato sauce, with what I think was dried basil, or maybe oregano. I was 9 at the time, so what would know.
This guy complains about the floppiness of the pepperoni pizza compared to the cheese pizza - but totally forgets that he showed us how floppy the cheese pizza was. 😂
I would laugh at anyone who told me to only put 1 topping or else be called a tourist. They can pound sand while i enjoy what i want/pay for. 😂 too funny.
Please try the vodka sauce pizza from Rubirosa NYC if you get the chance. Would love to see a video on it from you on the place. Thanks for the great videos
Thanks, UA. You always put me in a good mood :). I guess I have been walking by this place for years-- now I will try it! BTW, Bourdain seems to be everywhere all of a sudden....? Chairman Bourdain of the Red Sauce.....LOL
I might try it once out of curiosity, but won't pay $4.50 more than once for a slice when I know a few really good pizzerias that charge $2.15, $2.50, or $3.00.
People complaining about cheese “grease” would be the same to me as like people complaining about a ribeye having too much fat… like… they are fatty, what do you expect?
A lot of that is owing to fake news about how nutritional value was labeled. Americans see "fat" and oils and think that will make them fat, while reality it's the carbs and sugar that makes a person fat. Fat is flavor tho and oils are essential. People that live solely on a carnivore or keto diet and eat tons of oils end up being healthy and losing lots of weight. People still have very warped and out dated views on nutrition, and in America there is an obsession with trying to not be fat tho a large majority of people are as they have warped views on nutrition.
I love your channel, but at some point, how excited can you get about a slice of pizza? I live in North Jersey .there are some great pizza places here. I'm sure they're just as good as that place.
Thanks I enjoyed your video as always. No, I understood exactly what you were talking about describing the cheese pie. I'm sure your were right about the pepperoni pie--which I noticed was not the thick pieces that form cups and contain all that extra grease--about how this strong flavored ingredient could ruin the balance of the whole, which the whole mix and match pick your toppings style of pizza ruins. I've noticed you have a cheeky sense of humor, but I must congratulate you for suggesting having Anthony Bourdain on a video screen in New York was like having a poster of Mao in a dumpling restaurant in China. I might add people who complain loudly about high pizza prices seem to have no idea how much rents, utility prices, insurance, carting costs, etc. have increased, particularly since the pandemic. I live in Manhattan. A McFish meal is almost $20! I just saw another comment--yeah, sausage and mushroom is good, I happen to like meatball and green pepper, although I feel sausage and pepper in any form is disappointing if you've had it grilled or griddled outdoors in a street festival, but you gotta stay in control of the toppings especially on a thin slice. I think actually in Italy, it's more common they say, no you can't have it your way, you eat it the way I make it.
Went to this place a month ago or so. Wasn’t the best pizza, was overpriced, but I appreciated the hours and the fact that we could chill out and sit inside. And while it wasn’t the best, it was pretty damn good and given the vibe inside we came back a couple of times and really enjoyed it.
