    Nice teardown! Cool to see how well it was put together, cool to see how thick the back layer is

    Its certainly a tough phone for being so light but if you drop it without raised case protection around the edges its going to shatter like any other device. Screen protectors are a drag but you kinda need one of those too

    Excellent video. I just purchased one and it was supposed to be here today, but UPS is not very reliable, so I’m hoping I’ll get it by Friday. It was supposed to be overnight shipping. Not.

      When I received mine, the retail box the phone was in the round seal sticker was ripped, so someone opened it.
      Why, I don't know, it came right from Motorola website.
      Was your seal ripped ?

    Can the sub-board with the USB port be replaced without first removing the main board and battery?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  4 місяці тому +2

      yes, as long as you have access to it, you don't need to remove anything else.

    Practicality aside, this is an interesting phone to view. For example, the lower speaker is not part of the lower plastic cover. Instead, it is a separate unit. The sim card reader is not part of the daughter board, it is connected by a ribbon cable. I don't think I have seen anything like this. This is just not a practical phone to buy anyway.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Рік тому

      Yeah, I've seen it occasionally in different phones but yeah usually not the case.

    Thanks for your great teardown video.
    Do you think this phone quality is really good in terms of the build quality, ruggedness, and durability?
    How do you rate it compared to the BlackBerry's flagship phone I.e. Passport, Classic, KeyOne, Key2; or even the Unihertz version?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Рік тому +4

      Thanks and you're welcome. Yeah its definitely a well build phone and durable. The Unihertz type of rugged phones will be more rugged than this in terms of the body materials being more thick and rugged, as well as plastic layers or plastic screens which don't break as easy. However for the form factor and higher spec device, the ThinkPhone definitely comes out on top.

      Thank you very much for your answer.
      Is there any business phones with similar as or better quality (build quality, material, durability, finishing detail, ruggedness, form factor) than the Motorola ThinkPhone that you would like to recommend ?

  • @federicorubionavarro3399
    @federicorubionavarro3399 6 місяців тому

    Nice video! Could you please do a durability test? There is literally no durability test on this phone, on YT or even on the general web, and it's supposed to be rugged!!!

    I'm looking to put a MagSafe ring adapter on my ThinkPhone. In the video the wireless charging coil looks to be in the middle of the phone. Can you confirm this? Could you possibly give a measurement of where the dead center of the coil is?
    Thanks!

      I like the carbon fiber back. Just broke my LG v60 glass back and it was in a good case. Dropped about 3 feet into concrete. I just got the thinkphone. Still put a decent case and tempered glass. I think with the carbon fiber build it will hold up pretty well.

    Motorola dropped the ball 🏈 on these.
    When I pinch and zoom in on a photo, lets say for example a photo of writing or print on a retail box, the print is blurry.
    But, when i view the same image with an old 2019 Motorola's Z4 the image is clear. No problem on the 2019 Z4 to read rhe writing.
    So, as much as I like the rest of the phone, its going back.
    I tried two different Thinkphones and both suffer from the same issue.

      To increase the number of cameras for marketing without increasing the cost by much. These depth cameras or low-resolution macro cameras are usually called "strategic cameras" because they have no practical use besides marketing... and manufacturers should stop this. We never say the non-pro iPhones are lacking in cameras despite having just two.
