The ThinkPhone is definitely one of the most undereated phones of 2023. I have been using one for six months now and is a great backup phone to have. If Motorola can add stylus support and expandable memory to the ThinkPhone 2, Samsung might actually be in trouble.
My first smartphone was the original Moto G. I loved it. The later models that Motorola put out didn't appeal to me as much until I found your video. Now this is a Motorola I want to buy. But it's a shame that this is impossible to find in the part of the world I live in 😢.
ONE of the reasons why I'm SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING buying the 'Think Phone' IS because of the Computing power linked to the 'Ready For' function. I currently have an aging Nvidia Shield K1 tablet connected via Mini HDMI out and USB hub (to an external HDD, power and such), to my living room tv and vintage (1989) Technics SU-600 'New Class A' Integrated Amplifier (then through to my midrange bookshelf speakers and 10" Subwoofer - this being my Android 'home entertainment setup' (I also have my Windows based laptop connected to my TV & Amp). So, with my K1 showing its age (and being stuck on Android 7), the 'Think Phone' is REALLY looking to be the K1's replacement ESPECIALLY AT THAT PRICE! Yeah, some might say "Why not a Samsung S or Note series instead?" Well, I DON'T like the way Samsung have their cloned app versions of the popular AND VERY CAPABLE Google apps that you CANNOT uninstall (bloody bloatware'!) and Motorola/Lenovo (although usually slow with their OS/Security updates) tend to keep to near 'Stock' when it comes to their phones Android OS. 😏, Alternates I've been looking at are also, the upper end 'G series' and 'Edge series' of motorolas that have the 'Ready For' feature. but, unless I go for older used 'Premium' 'G' & 'Edge', £/$400 for a newish 'Think Phone' IS sounding a GOOD DEAL especially with the specs you get too!!! 🤔😏😉👍 😎🇬🇧
Why would Korean company rely on American based store and be completely dependable on infrastructure which belongs to direct competitors? Do you want Samsung to follow Nokia's fate?
@@proudbacteria1373 Nokia are working fine on Android. With regards to Samsung... Their clone copies of Google Assistant, Browser, Photo Gallery, App store, Calendar, Keyboard app and other apps, fall FAR SHORT of what Google's own apps do. This would thus have no extra unnecessary bloat (freeing up RAM and processor duties), and, would be a GREAT starting point for anyone to build up/customise their phones with GREAT hardware with THEIR OWN CHOICE of Launchers, themes, display designs, apps and all that goes with it... Take the G-Cam Mod for example (only works on SnapDragon processor phones), it's the Pixel camera APK tweaked to work on multiple other makes/models of phones thus, mostly improving on the original manufacturers camera app. I can attest to that having installed it on my old Moto G9 Plus, it GREATLY improved the still images details, HDR and all sorts... I wouldn't say that across the board. A colleague at work got herself a Motorola and regularly gets annoyed when she takes photos in low light or in the dark because the photos look so much worse than with my S23U.
Great video and breakdown. This was a tough sell at 699 but at 399 is a great deal. I paid the same for a galaxy s23 fe for my girl recently…sd 8 gen 1+ for the same price as an 8 gen 1 phone is a win.

I actualy returned the think phone and got the 2023 Motorola edge plus. Personally, I like it better. They are both great phones. I just wish it had the 12 gigs of ram instead of 8. I notice more apps have to refresh then on the Fold 5 or s23 series. Overall it is a pretty decent phone. Your videos are great Adam! You are my favorite youtube phone reviewer
Spent the last couple of days debating between the two, just ordered the thinkphone. Why do you like the edge plus better? I have the 2020 edge plus and like it a lot (want to keep it as a travel phone) so need to get a new everyday phone. Is the camera that disappointing on the thinkphone?
@@eyeslike27 I ordered both but will return one. I like the feel of the plus, but I find the thinkphone loads faster, despite the older chipset. The TP has a Jan security patch, while the plus is still on Nov/23. Indeed I find the cameras close (plus has a better front facing camera). Having a hard time deciding on which one I should return.
Not a bad phone for Motorola at all I would take it if I didn't have my s23 base model already I've had plenty of Motorola mid-range phones their battery life was amazing
Same. Pre-ordered and picked up my Base S23 early this year on launch day. I can honestly say I've had ZERO regrets, but this would for sure be an easy choice if I was still in the market. Especially for the price.

And I envy (haha) this red button, so (again) neat! And the armored hardware and the flat screen.
the price is 399 but not 359. Should I apply sone promo code to get it for 359?
is this compatible with tmobile 5G sir?
Yup. Sure is
@@TechOdyssey is it better than the s23 fe especially with regards to battery life and overall performance? appreciate all your videos sir. More power to your channel.❤
@@pearldy6172 I think it is. I think it’s a better phone. And thank your glad you enjoy the channel
Is it possible to use the phone in other countries?
@TechOdyssey Do you think this phone will work in other countries if bought unlocked from the US?
Thanks for this amazing review. It is nice to see that you are not pushing the new iphone 15, samsung s24 utlra plus ect.... most of ppl don't change phone every year ...most ppl would never see a difference between iphone 12 to 15... yes on paper and spec sheet....but in real world .. exept battery life...the rest is a very very niche crowd. I will buy this think phone, and keep up the amazing work! I found your channel years ago when I was looking for more info about the new ( canceled) blackberry!
Man, I've got a g5g right now, with a Thinkphone on the way and I can't WAIT 'til that thing gets here.
I won't get rid of this one (it's too damn good... seriously) but if it's half as good as this one has been, it'll be money well spent.
Where can it be bought at $399 price?
Amazon, at least you could yesterday
Thanks @@TechOdyssey , I was looking on lenovos website and it still has a price tag of $699.
@@eduardnunez7426Which country do you live in? (You dont have to say if you feel uncomfortable)
I purchased this phone and I have a pixel 8 almost identical experience I am very happy with it The Pixel has Android 14 and the think the phone still has Android 13 and the pixel 8 has better cameras especially in low light.
I wish they sold it at this discounted price in Finland 😢
Sadly this phone cost 10990:-SEK in Sweden, about 1011,62 USD.
I have a 13 pro max. Do you believe I should get the s23 ultra now if I really need a new phone? I totaled my phone yesterday and I need a new phone
@@rudeboy2502 Sorry, I am just seeing your reply. I felt the battery was better on the moto edge plus 2023. Cameras were pretty close to equal
Does Thinkphone have an IP Rating?
Ip68
@@TechOdyssey Well then! Considering all things, that pretty much makes this thing a Flagship Slayer!
Unfortunately it's only 3 years of software support that are left for this phone. Even budget Samsung phones receive 5 years of security patches and 3 OS updates.
Oh yeah I'm going to run out and buy a POS budget Samsung over the thinkphone just because of OS updates. Ridiculous
@@saynotokaren9904 I'm going to buy new midrange phone of 2024 which will serve me 5 years of support. Not necessarily Samsung. If Motorola provided longer support life I would have bought Thinkphone. Heck, I'm even considering buying renewed iPhone 12 because Apple provides long support life ( 6 OS updates and 2 more years of security patches).
People tend to vastly overrate software updates. Haven't had a software update on my current phone in 2+ years. No problem whatsoever
Got one during Thanksgiving based on one of your videos. Its truly a hidden gem!
How are the cameras?
Glad to hear you’re enjoying it!
It is very decent when compared to the more expensive phones I have but at its price point, it is amazing. @@bjperez9076
Thanks for bringing it to our attention. Definitely a keeper. @@TechOdyssey
I picked this up less than a month ago. I like it!
how is the speech to text
Hi. Here in Germany the phone costs 1000 euro on Motorola s site. What an unconsistent policy
That’s crazy.
ThinkPhone is £799 ( including tax ) in the UK. Very expensive.
Ouch. That’s a lot more here
I bought almost like new with one scratch on screen in box with charger and case, 2y warranty for 325£ in CEX UK and I'm very happy! Marvelous phone!
Wow this is a shocker 1st time hearing about this.
Yup. A lot of people have never heard about it
Android 14? If not when?
More worth it when the price comes down another $100.
144 Refresh Rate has to be manually set.
I almost went with the think phone but I ended up buying the Motorola edge plus 2023 for around 50 bucks more
How do you find the edge plus? Just ordered the thinkphone but wondering if I should change it. Any issues with the speakerphone?
I was buying motorola but the update was pretty bad.
Yesterday I get December patch
Watched your videos on thus befote buying one. This phone is legit. Best phone even compared to my iphone 14 pro max.
your $359 thing isn't working. it still says 399
Think Is Lenovo right?
I'm still rocking the snapdragon 888👍
Adam, I tried to buy the Thinkphone today with your affiliate link and coming up $399. Is it too late to use the link? Or do you have the coupon code we need to put in at checkout? Please advise. Thank you 😊.
2:40 Thank you.. Now i have to contend with the likes of Samsung or Apple. It upset me when Sony left South Africa.
It’s been in my cart for a while now😅. Just a little more time and I’ll be able to afford it.
Have you got it, if so how is it?
@@robertzoufood no, I haven't. Damn I can't believe its been 2 months since that comment and it's still in that cart 🤣. But I strongly believe one will have a great experience with the phone.
Why THE FUCK the in USA the phones cost this small price, I buy the Thinkphone in Europe from 430 euro, my LG V50 thin Q I buy in 2022 from 170 dollar + shipping tax from USA, damn this is ridiculously
Because Motorola is American so there is less movement. Also, American prices dont include tax whereas european prices include VAT.
Id rather spend money on an attorney than buy that overpriced, slow-charging brick. Motorola all day
It's almost a man phone. Get rid of the selfie camera, add a good low light macro camera and high speed video. It's big enough for big hands, decently fast for games and high refresh. Add a couple more programmable buttons. Bam a phone for a man.
Comparing one phone that you can get. Against one YOU REALLY CAN'T.....
youtube goals.... I guess.
This is a phenomenal video. Excellent analysis, as always.
I have three questions:
1. Which do you like better between the Motorola Think Phone and the Motorola Razr+ 2023?
2. Could you please do a review of the best current cellular phones that have a headphone jack?
3. Could you please do a review of the best headphone jack adapters for phones that do not have a headphone jack?
Thank you, in advance.
I'm so glad you've gone away from the iPhone and not chose it as the best of year. Have you seen supersafs latest video? Most picked the boring ass iPhone. There's so many great phones out there!
I haven’t seen his video but I’m sure 90% of the big guys picked the iphone as phone of the year.
@@TechOdyssey exactly. Same as last year, boooore
No always-on-display substituted for that useless "peek" feature is an instant deal breaker for me. We've had AOD since 2015, what are you thinking Moto? Even apple finally got the memo.
Always on is retarded and wastes battery, all I have to do is grab the phone to look at it and the peek screen comes on and I can instantly unlock with my thumb.
AOD is overrated and most phones have it so buy them 🤷🏾♂️
@@Laconic_Is there still the peek display available? I thought they replaced it with this new crappy screenlock thing which comes with the Edge 40 series
Damm.. wish i bought it from your link.. my bad man
No worries. I am not talking about the phone to make money. Just to educate people and share this phone because I think it’s an amazing deal and a really good phone.
Yes, you can buy beef steak or McDonald's. Bought, they says it's beef.
Watch from pakistan 🇵🇰 dude
Howdy!
I can find oneplus ace 2 pro at that price, for a better phone with 8gen2 processor.
One for your wife, and your girlfriend lol
359? not happening in Germany 😂 unfortunately
Nice video
remind me again why the $300 phone is really $359?
Different storage capacity
You the man
Thank you
Ultra is Ultra 🤔😉
I honestly think the one plus nord 30 is the best buy this year @300$. 128 GB of storage like 2x as much ram+ 50 watt fast charging and a wide angle camera lens+ 120 hertz refresh rate.
Definitely not better than this phone especially for the price
@@TechOdyssey maybe so, but that's the great thing about technology everyone can enjoy what they like.
@@BrodeeRaney-zl1kf if you’re happy with it and it does what you need it do then that’s all that matters.

1000€ in Germany
You heard that?! One for your wife, one for your girlfriend?!
Wife and girlfriend 😂
Man, this phone is AMAZING! I never knew I needed 144Hz display until I got it. I feel like I'm committing a crime having this phone for only $359😂
How has your battery life been with the 144Hz on? I've been using auto display and the battery life has been amazing.. over 24 hours without a charge and I'm at 20%
The screen is sooooo nice
@@jasondefelice2710 I haven't been measuring it, but it's leaps and bounds better than my Pixel 7. I need to charge my Pixel twice a day from 15% to 80%, but I do know that I don't have to charge my Thinkphone until bedtime
Are the cameras as bad a some say? I'm not overly impressed with my Pixel 6a camera and even less so when it can't do phone things well.
