Great Vid! My only thing is that Meg said that Return to Dark Tower is Stephen King based. It actually has nothing to do with the Stephen King books, otherwise I love her pick. :). Its a great game and she’ll love it as a Gloomhaven fan. :)
I have dark tower on an iPad streamed to a TV in the game room, and even with all that, there is a ton of interaction with players. The app doesn't keep you looking at it until you need to read event text, see what a quest requires, or battle something. We use the TV so everyone can see all the information, and watch others do battle. It creates an exciting environment to see if someone is about to kill us all with corruptions.
We put ISS Vanguard on the table downstairs and keep playing as much as we can. Put it on the table Nov 26th and its still out mid Jan. We have never kept a game out that long.
SOO Many thoughts! 1. Alex, Resist! looks awesome and its been on my must-buy list for a while now. Heat is also getting mentioned everywhere it seems and I guess we will need to try it. 2. Meg, Townsfolk Tussle is SO good! I hope you get to try it soon! ISS Vanguard is one I am about to begin, and I hope it's as good as people say. 3. Devon, TURING MACHINE IS AMAZING! Playing co-op is maybe our favorite way to play it. Also, Hoplomachus Victorum (mouthful) will probably be my game of the year in 2023. Calling it now. The demo we had of it at Gen Con was one of my favorite board game experiences!
Heat feels very different than flamme rouge. Heat is about managing your hand to push faster and faster where FR feels like a marathon where everyone gets slower every turn. I like the card play in heat more but I like the positional play in FR more. Ultimately heat is more for light fun, FR is more crunchy.
My Top 4 games of 2022 which I want to play: #4 Heat: Pedal to the Metal - Based on the feedback and hype #3 Lacrimosa - Sounds interesting mechanically, with the cards #2 Woodcraft - I ❤ the wood cutting and wood gluing mechanic, and the rondel #1 Wayfarers of the South Tigris - 🎲 placement and engine-building, creating your own icon tableau, to help in the future to build out your card tableau. Enough said. I don’t care that I haven’t been interested in previous Garphill Games. This trilogy looksright up my alley.
Return to Dark Tower definitely gives me a very pandemic feel. Running around putting out fires. The app runs well and does not take away from the game. I would like them to put more story into it. Like generating an epilogue based on what happened in your game instead of just the stats it gives you at game end.
Return to Dark Tower is a great one for bringing a wow factor for coop gaming. Works best IMO for casual gamers who don't want too many rules but are happy with a longer experience. For coops, there are other ones I prefer personally but the shared experience of RtDT puts it up past many of those. Azul Chocolateer does have some sort of module for factories - would like to see if that's a good update
Also doesn’t it have zero association with Stephen King’s Dark Tower? In any case, it’s pretty cool, I finally got to try it out at PAX joining a random couple, I’m excited to get my copy sometime this year
Unlike war of the ring the board game, the card game seems to work better at 4 players. To get the best experience at 2 players you need to play 2-handed
Watch No Pun Included review for Return to Dark Tower, they have swayed me with their view on expansions completing the game. Then please explain to Devon what a top list is…
When I got my dark tower pledge I thought I was going to sell it. Dark tower is super fun and legit. I think the app integration isn't bad at all. My goal with tabletop is that I should be looking at my board and friends more than the app. I cant say that about destinies but I can say that about this. Please play dark tower!!!
Alex, why do you like the original Azul over Stained Glass? I've only played Stained Glass and I own it, but I was just wondering as I had heard that most people liked Stained Glass more.
The Age of Atlantis......I feel so betrayed by them. They gambled their kickstarter money away on crypto and now i may never get my copy of it. Absolutely furious about it!
@@BoardGameCo check out the kickstarter chat. The vast majority of us have not and sounds like will never get our copies. There is massive anger against this project!
@@BoardGameCo I hope you look into it and do a video on it. With as large as El Darado is, it is an utter shame what they’ve done to people on this. I just looked again today and TONS of complaints from people who have emailed months ago with no response, no product and the few who did get it got the wrong copy, nothing that they paid for, broke and missing parts with zero response. We need voices like you’re fighting for us since they have ignored ours.

We need to hang out more

I loved the trivia, please do more loool 😆
Just for the record, the LotR trivia was absolute UA-cam gold!

Here I was waiting for Alex’s review of Knight Fall and he has forgotten it 😂
Age of Atlantis is at the top of my still need to play list. But I also still need to get to SHEOL, ISS Vanguard and Endless Winter.
Lots of stuff to play:)
It's Lembas bread.... rookies.
Lol, we're close enough
@@BoardGameCo lol. Fair enough
Ty for the video!
War of the Ring does have rules for 3 players (2 v 1), and Dark Tower (not Stephen King related) is a great game made even better with the expansion.

@@hammerdall Correct, it has nothing to do with King's "Dark Tower" series...
@@hammerdall That's a good series, but this is based on a board game from 1981 which came out one year before King's Gunslinger.
Keep the heroes out is pretty cool, you should be really happy with the difficulty scaling.
Agreed Heat is high on my list to play this year.
You all need to play LOTR trivial pursuit live. That would be very entertaining
Lol it could be :)
"She lobbed it right at ya" 😆 🤣 epic
Heat and Return to the Dark Tower would be on my list.
Unlike war of the ring the board game, the card game seems to work better at 4 players. To get the best experience at 2 players you need to play 2-handed
Devon needs to get on Bullet, you can play it over a lunch break either solo or with others.
Alan Turing film - The Imitation Game
Yes!
I'm confused. Alex has a review of Keep the Heroes Out that went out 13 days ago.
This was filmed 3 weeks ago.

If you like area control check out DEI. I really like that one. Not sure if that’s one you picked up.
I was gunna pitch Plan B Games on Azul Tide Pods edition, but now I'm thinking Azul Bath Salts is the way to go... 😜
:)
Wayfarers is the best of Shem and Sam's games yet.
Alex, if you don't like this one, no need to bother ever trying another one. :)
Lol I'll let you know after I play it.
What about Pagan: Fate of Roanoke?
I do want to play that one too :)
We really like Age of Atlantis!
35:13 Europa Universalis: The Price of Power (?)
That's mine...
It’s pronounced Gar-Fill games not Garp-Hill. Great video guys!
ISS Vanguard is sooooooo good!

Heat is awesome!!!!!! Sorry that i keep posting separately...
Lol never apologize :)
Why is it not on your list Alex?! 😁
Why is what not on my list?
Awesome
BGR said Terracotta Army is good but nothing amazing. Below bgg 7 afaik.
Good to know

@@mattmc20 What's the crypto part that you're talking about? I didn't see anything about that?
Don't worry Meg you don't have to try burncycle, it's chip theories worst game
Haha this is an older one, because you already released a review on number 5 😜
Animal of the day 🦄
Lol yep, that happens :)
