Hey there! I know it's been almost 2 years since this video was posted, but it just randomly came across it. I was actually the lead guitar player in DH for this record and the one before. Like Matt Baker said in his comment, I did record the solo on lap steel, as well as play it live. I actually brought my lap steel to those sessions in Seattle because I was overdubbing some country stuff for another friend in Bremerton at the same time. I never intended to use it on the DH record but it was one of those "why not try it?!" moments in the studio. Cheers and thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Big Shout out to Ethan! You’re such a versatile musician and producer! Love how you used your many talents in all the bands you’ve been a part of!!! So Good to have you comment on this song! Peace Brother 🎼✝️
The video is not official from their youtube channel, it’s a videos from someone who took some footage from their “fading away” video and added the song to it.
5:56 if you want to hear pure mixed well eargasmic, wall of sound (and unusual) harmonies from these guys check out Incision (which also happens to be from the same album as this song actually)🤘
So the video is to a different song called fading away, and parts of thousand apologies. which would explain why its grainy, because some person just made a fan video.
Oh no. "Was that guitar soil" was funny and then you got so embarrassed and I just imagine myself out there saying soil and you're turning red. BRO ITS OK. We all have sloppy tongues sometimes! Also this is one of my fave Demon Hunter songs and I just realized this video came out on my 30th birthday. 👌
That guitar solo is actually a lap steel guitar. I saw them live on their tour cycle for this album, and the lead guitarist at the time actually brought out his lap steel guitar for this song and played it on stage. It was quite cool to watch. Just a little tidbit to help put that solo in context. They deliberately went for the mood and atmosphere over the technicality.
Great Cliff 'Em All shirt! I don't typically like metal bands that scream a lot but like you said, Ryan Clark screams in a way that you can understand what he's saying.
Loving this channel lately :) I'd love to see you reviewing some British bands that caused a huge shift in culture in Britian during the late 80s into the 90s such as The Stone Roses, The La's and Oasis - "There She Goes" by The La's would be a great song to start with - Irish fan!
Ah! I’m digging the “Cliff em all” shirt! Cliff Burton was a huge inspiration for me to play bass. I even went to hot topic and purchased the misfits skull shirt he would wear.
@@ianfranks541 Just taught myself. I don't know a thing about music theory. I just listen to things and try to work them out, with varying degrees of success. Tablature is a godsend! Biggest problem I think I have is that I'm left handed, but I play right handed. I think I would have been better with a left handed bass but it feels too late to change as I've been playing right handed for years now. To rub salt in the wound, my son who's also left handed plays right handed bass and guitar with no issues at all. Taught himself, bass, guitar, ukulele and drums from watching UA-cam videos and was better than me within 6 months😀
Unrelated to the song but I'm curious: when discussing a video's view count you typically say "it'll get you there" for high ones or "it's not gonna get you there" for low ones. What's the idea behind that and what's the threshold so-to-speak between them? Thanks in advance. Related to the song pretty decent one by them. I'm not the biggest scream fan as I feel not every song needs screaming in it but it was decent here and for some songs it does work, though like you said for Demon Hunter's case Ryan Clark's screaming does start to grow on you the more you here it.
10k is usually the cut off point. I dunno how or why....I have no explaination as to how it started. I just said it on one of my first videos....and people loved it. Soooooo I kept it....everyone keeps telling me I should make shirts that say "It'll getcha there". I dunno, maybe down the road we'll see.
Nice one, this is probably my favourite Demon Hunter album. Keep 'em coming! I think this video is probably a 'compilation' video someone made. I can't remember they released an actual video for this one, hence the quality. DH always pays a lot of attention to their own art. Will request the one I requested before (off the same album as this one): Lead Us Home. Killer song with some great harmonies (and tasty drumming) there. No actual music video sadly, but a HD audio quality video from their channel nonetheless. ua-cam.com/video/X6aW9ScuMYI/v-deo.html
Don't feel bad, I very much love this band but I wanna fire the guy in charge of their production. That's what I feel has kept them down a tier all of these years.

@@Charlie_Walker777 Aw, man. Thank you for the kind words!
Saw you guys at the Glass House in Pomona for this tour with Oh, Sleeper. Was an awesome night I'll never forget.
That breakdown right before it was awesome as well, "Nearing the end of our misery"...
I love your reactions to Demon Hunter!!!

And from what I can tell was theatrical and not just atmospheric. I mean the guy is howling on a guitar...
I'm usually a big jazz/prog/deathcore person but this song is my guilty pleasure lol.

Cliff is honestly the biggest influence on my bass playing.
YES MY BRO!! THANK YOU

Ian Franks - Did the shirt improve your playing much?
@@gmon78 not to the level of Cliff! But it certainly didn’t hurt!
@@ianfranks541 If I thought it would help I'd buy 2. My playing is awful 😀

Didn't expect Christian metal to get any reaction channels looking at it, but this is one of the best bands for it.

Could you do a review of “Falling on Everlasting” by I Am Terrified please?
