If these tales are only half true, then "Mysterious Dave" was a most formidable man to face down & deserves much more recognition as a lawman & gun thrower. Yes, it's true in some cases that men already had drawn weapons before actual shooting started. Hard to verify, but such an incident involving Wyatt Earp friend & ally "Texas Jack" Vermillion may've taken place in Tombstone as portrayed in the film.
“The bartender continued to badger Dave for some one to.......(line? Oh, right) “pay for the damage”. Pure gold! State of the art 1915 production technology too! 😂😂😂
That was a good read. And this is an accurate story.love it
Cool. I have a gunfighter encyclopaedia and Dave Mathers was an underestimated gunslinger.

Cheech and Chong, but how many of us would know that.
This is one of my relatives! Just like to know what happened to him?
They didn't call him Mysterious Dave Mather for nothing. He disappeared without trace, a former buddy of Wyatt Earp.
he would make a good movie !
He kind of fell off the face of the Earth. He was here one day, gone the next, never being seen again.
If this is true the way it was told then fast draw must really have happen in the old west.
Probably not true to the tale
