Have been a long time fan of his. When I was really young, like back in the early 60's, I would run around my grandparents house singing his songs as loud as I could, and dancing away, when they came on the radio my aunt was always listening to. It's a shame he has never been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His writing and performing history makes him more than worthy of the honor. He has had nine Top 10 hits on the Hot 100 and 17 in the Top 40. He has won at least three gold records. ❤🎸🎶💽💽💽
Poor side of town, Do you wanna dance, It's too late, Secret agent man, A whiter shade of pale, Summer rain, By the time I get to Phoenix, among others, all great songs performed by Johnny.
I love Johnny Rivers and (of course) this song. I like what he did with it. Great voice, subtle instrumentation and a little flute for an extra punch. Thanks for this!
Ah, cresci, frequentei bailes e o som de Johnny Rivers sempre tocava a todos, intérprete de primeiríssima linha, vocal perfeito e inconfundível, genial!!!👏👏👏👏👏
He put his sin on this Smokey Robison's classic. It's nice to hear someone else's rendition. I thought he did a nice job. Happy Friday 🥳 Thank you for sharing 💖
Got furious with my parents when I was about 10 years old because they wouldn't take me to see Johnny Rivers at a local night club. Got to tell him that when I saw him perform years later. Such a class act!❤
Obrigado! Well, that’s one of maybe 10 words I know in Portuguese. But I know music fans in Brazil are pretty intense. I’ve watched quite a few videos of famous bands playing there and the fans are pretty wild. Anyways, enjoy your summer! It’s winter in Napa, CA. (My wife and I have been to Chile and Argentina. I love South America. As a matter of fact if I had my druthers I’d retire either to Portugal or South America somewhere. Patagonia and the Galapagos are on my bucket list as is of course Brazil and the Amazon.)
@@Washington-Dreaming You and your wife will be very welcome to Brazil. There are many interesting places here besides the Amazon, to name a few: Iguaçu Falls, Pantanal, Archipelago of Fernando de Noronha (wonderful beaches like Galapagos), etc. Here we greatly appreciate the United States, its music and culture, your country will always be the greatest representative for the West
I like his backup singers. I think they’re very good. I think I’ve heard of Johnny Rivers but it’s been a very long time. It’s a bit odd but when he first started playing I thought, “Oh, he’s left handed,” but I realized he’s playing a right-handed guitar. I wonder if he’s naturally a lefty but plays as a righty? It’s only a guess though.
I'm a big Johnny Rivers fan. Thank you so much for posting this performance! I understand that he also sang Summer Rain during the same show. Could you be so kind to make that available as well?
@@LosGoud , i'd love to hear his two hits such "Poor Side Of Town" and "Summer Rain" these are that i like the most. Could it be they'll be posting these ones? I hope it so!
Johnny Rivers needs more respect on his name. Greatly underrated vocalist.
Thank you Midnight Special for bringing the best in live music

Love anything Johnny Rivers sang! I'm especially fond of his cover of Fire and Rain!
Johnny Rivers should be much bigger in Brazil/South America than in the U.S. He has been visited Brazil from 70's to mid 2000's.
He's from baton rouge Louisiana

Always loved Slow Dancing (Swayin to the Music)....with the crickets chirping at the beginning! One of my first 45's!

One of the BEST "slow-dance" songs at the high school parties! ❤-Diana

Sensacional... vê-lo cantar com sua banda completa
Wonderful! My brother loved Johnny Rivers.

Hermosa Canción ❤👏👏👏❤
Wow, that was amazing seeing anything and I would love it❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How big is Johnny Rivers in the United States? Here in Brazil he is a legend. I even got to see him live around 2010

He’s a legend here in the U.S.
Fui no show dele em SP em 2010...numa sexta...baita show
@@retroarkx então fomos no show da mesma turnê. Eu também sou de São Paulo capital, mas assisti ao show dele em Ribeirão Preto

Not an easy task to cover legends like Smokey Robinson & the Miracles but I enjoyed this cover by Johnny Rivers ❤👍🎶
A melhor interpretação

Johnny is one of the greats, but this song needs a crooner like Smokey to receive full justice. Still, not too bad a job.
Pretty decent rendition. I love Smokey's the best. 💜
I don't think soul music covers are where he's 💪 est. He's more of a good old rock and roll kind of guy.
@@gregoryduncan3067 I agree.
Oh, those hairstyles of the 70s, with mustaches and leather clothes with sequins that shimmer in bright light 😂

I'm also a huge Rivers' fan! Do you happen to know if he does "either Poor Side Of Town" or "Baby I Need Your Loving"... I'd love to hear both songs
@@concurseirovencedor-y4b In this particular episode he does : Secret Agent Man, Seventh Son, Poor Side of Town, Summer Rain and Tracks of My Tears.

Wow he looks a lot different from his secret agent man days
