Unfortunately you are so right. I’ll one up you. I think that music “died” around 1990. Before then you had even some killer metal bands, such as Ozzy with Randy Rhoads. I saw Randy play live just before he died. But I like singer-songwriter from the 70s and metal and “frat boy” music from the 80s. You know, Duran Duran, Flock of Seagulls, and even Culture Club. I’m into classical to a degree although to me, the 70s and 80s had the best music ever. Music today is s mess.
The decade its impossible to pick the "best". There was such a wide range of talented artists and bands in the 70s that won't be replicated. This was MY pre-teen years to nineteen, watching The Midnight Special on Friday night and listening to Casey Kasem's Top 40 on Sunday morning. Seals and. Crofts, classic.
Every friday night, it was heaven to watch MS and see who would on that night playing live. The 70's and 80's were an amazing time to be able to experience all of this.
So many years of this song in my head from the great 70's music. Lately, it has just appeared in my brain. Came here to listen to it, it is gold. Love Seals and Crofts music. ❤
Jack Wild was my 1st tv boyfriend, Mark Lester was my best friend, Kathy’s. We had a clubhouse in my parents attic and wrote their names-initials on the wood beams. Wonder if the new owners ever noticed? 😂
Boy, that takes me back to the nerdy 14-year-old I was, mostly soldering electronic stuff together in my bedroom when this song was getting a lot of airplay. I would become less of a loner in a couple of years, but at the time, I usually had my face in a circuit board. 😆
This was a time during my childhood that my parents also enjoyed the music I listened to. Then I discovered Kiss, Aerosmith, AC/DC, any heavy rock, then metal!
@@planomathandscience What are you talking about?? At the 2:35 mark the camera shows most of the guitarist solo and I dont believe it's Louie Shelton tho he played on the record
I don’t know which one is Seals and which one is Crofts. I guess that’s their last names? I’ve never seen them in a video before I think until today. But it’s interesting because the guy on the left I believe is playing a Mandolin perhaps? And the guy on the right looks like he’s playing a classical guitar and finger picks which is good for so many reasons. But it’s a bit of a rare combination at least in pop or rock. (I think the guy on the left is singing high harmonies and the guy on the right is singing the melody. From memory, on the studio version, the harmony part has a little less volume. But while the singing is great I think the live mix could’ve been a bit better as I would’ve prioritized the melody I think.)
@@Lance37ahey, thanks. I had a gut feeling that was right. It is bizarre though because until yesterday I don’t remember ever seeing them on video. And I’ve heard, and really liked, their music for 40 to 50 years, plus or minus. These guys are or were great although I haven’t looked up their history yet.
Many singers in order to sing the high part have to really dig down deep and go for volume to get the right pitch. That's what Crofts was doing. Seals was more of a crooner, and he's in the baritone range, which is why there's a volume difference, I think. But, you're right, in order to get a better mix, maybe they could have overcome that. What this show did was both record live and adjust the sound for the PA and the audience. A difficult thing for sound engineers. I think they did a really good job.
I was growing up during this era. OK; I never grew up. But anyways it’s amazing to think about in a way because back then, music like this played on the radio. And during the 70s it seems like there were so many good-to-great bands. But in reality I didn’t really realize it until afterwards. In my opinion very little good music has been made after around 1990. Music since then is mean spirited at the least and, dare I write it? Misogynistic and foul-mouthed at worst. But I long for the 70s and even 80s again. They’re gone forever outside of videos like these.
Today's music will never compare to the 70's. Such great music.

Absolutely 💯 right
I concur with you…
Never
Not even close
the 70s were the best in music
Truth!

Started in the 60’s, then… 🚀!!!! 🎶❤
Absolutely 🎸🎶❤️
James Eugene Seals (October 17, 1942 - June 6, 2022) RIP.
Thanks, wasn't aware he passed.
What about Crofts??

They did pretty darn good for a couple of guys from small-town Texas.
One of the best American pop and folk rock music duos. Diamond Girl is my most favorite song of theirs
Defenatly a bluesy bass line in there too ...
A good tune for sure but I enjoy Summer Breeze more 🎶😊
Aww i loved this when i was young , i can remember the way the air smelled 🍃
During a day's when hot rod's were popular & the best music that ever was blasting, no decade will ever match the 70's when I was a teenager😢🎉❤❤😩🥳🎹🎸
This song brings summer to a cold February day.
Proud to be a part of the generation that valued musicianship. Phenomenal performance!
That's a good one. It's right up there with ⛱️ Breeze.
One of those songs from back in day... "That sure does shine! 💎✨️
Happy Monday... thank you for sharing! 💖
Absolutely
I'm glad I was a teenager in the seventies! Those were times of great bands and music 👍🎶❤From 🇫🇷
@@GerardFrenchy59 Me too! 😊
Absolutely phenomenal musicianship all around. Seals and Crofts were and are magnificent. Love their songs and their sound.
What phenomenal vocal harmonies along with true musicianship, when everything was true.
Very underrated duo,and the backing Band Was Tight.❤😮❤
Man do I wish I'd been around to experience this!
I was. A magical time for music.
We didn’t know we had it so good, the music was great, but that was the norm back then, not like the shit that is popular now
Every friday night, it was heaven to watch MS and see who would on that night playing live. The 70's and 80's were an amazing time to be able to experience all of this.
As a early 1970s pre-teen youth, this song caught my ear on the radio, California Jam and TV. Mighty fine!

Jazz -infused pop - I wish we still had it today. I guess today's artists don't have the same level of musicianship.
Check out *Knower*
Outstanding singer-songwriters.
Still have this 45 i got back in the summer of '73. I was all of 6 years old. Good times!✌✌
Great song 🎶 👍
i allways liked that song
Oh man, H R Puffnstuff, The Banana Splits ~those were the days
Lmao
I used to watch the banana splits

The Great Louie Shelton on lead guitar !!!!!!!!!!!
Love this song 😊
It's funny. I'm watching this clip, and we're only 10 years removed from The Beatles. Music sure evolved in that decade.

I always wondered who operates the electric chair at the prison, now I know.
Now unless you’re in a niche or a hobbyist, it’s throw it away instead.

My first rock song I heard and liked and truly made me a rock fan was Aerosmith’s Dream On when I was 6!!
Cool song
These guys kick ass, rip James seals!
They were a great duo. I miss them a lot. 🤍 This is a great song I never get tired of hearing! 🎵 😌
Wow 💙💃💃💃
Romantic lyrics-song ☀️☀️☀️sure does shine ☀️☀️☀️
Whomever played that closing solo was pretty fantastic. Too bad the camera didn't.catch it.
I believe it's Louie Shelton. He's also the producer of the song.
The camera didn't catch any of the guitar work. Shame.
I was thinking the same. I would like to seen his hand on the fretboard and watch the progression.

Jeff Porcaro on drums and David Paich on keys
No wonder. Superstar session band
Wondering who was pounding those skins, so darn well! Thanks! Those Porcaro brothers were SO talented.
Was that Jeff? I didn't get a good look at him. What a player, and he would have been maybe 19 when that was filmed?
❤LOVE IT❤
Let's Go!! Play that guitar man 👏

The voice is a total original.

Wow they sounded great!
Louie Shelton!
They knew how to make it live

Adjust your equalizer, I love this jam. Grew up in that time.
