    Jura should allow access to the brew group. I absolutely love my machine, but the issue with buildup/mold and other issues with grinds being trapped has been a relentless battle the last 6 years I've had our beloved J9. They should have an easy access. Not sure what they're trying to hide when we can figure out how to access it, or view videos like this to resolve our own issues without having to deal with customer service, shipping, etc... for an easy cleaning!

      Hi Eric, We condemn the Jura policies that are enforced by Jura marketing company in the US. Such policies are against the American values of encouraging DIY repairs.

    +Parts Guru, Hi: I'm based in the UK & Unfortunately rarely get asked to Repair any type of Coffee machine, Think the last one was about 5 years ago. They don't seem to be a particularly big thing in my area. I still enjoy your videos though & the clear explanations you give.

    Thanks so much for this. Not sure I would have figured out the screws under the emblem on the back by myself. The video made it much easier to disassemble my J6. There is a torx screw in the water tray holder area (at the front center) that you have to remove as well to get that side off. I was able to remove oval screws by using a pair of needle nose pliers and using small vice grip pliers to clamp the needle nose pliers on the flat part of the oval screw. It is tricky and takes some patients. Once you break the screw loose you can just use the needle nose pliers to take them out. I replaced the screws with phillips head screws so I don't have to do this again.

      +Terry Chapman Hello Terry: I'm glad you found the video helpful. The oval screw by the water tank is buried deep inside. Kudos to you for removing the oval head screws with nose pliers. I'm curious as to how you removed it without the oval head tool.

      I looked closely to find the slightly flat side of the oval. Put my needle nose pliers on the "flat" sides, and then used a pair of vice grip pliers to clamp the needle nose pliers onto the flat spot by clamping them across the needle nose pliers. It was a bit tricky but worked in a pinch. I will try to take a picture of it and upload if I can.
      luckily, the screw in the water tank recess that holds on the outside plastic casing on that side was a torx otherwise my trick would not have worked as it is really recessed in there.

      +Terry Chapman Great, thank you for sharing. A picture would help too. I'm sure it'll help many Jura coffee machine owners that don't have the oval head tool.

    Thank you very much for making this video. Well done and very informative. Twice in the past 2 months I have gotten error 1 and hear a buzzing noise. I unplugged the machine for a few minutes and when I plugged it back in it was working ok, so just cleaned and descaled it. It seems like something is starting to fail though.

    Hi Parts Guru. Thanks a lot for a very useful video, but I lack information on the actual TOOL to open up the J9.3 one touch TFT. Without the tool, it is very difficult to start repairing... Could you please inform WHICH TOOL is used and if you can provide it ? I only have these round pins, which has no rough edges like torques and normal screews. Hope for your assistance on how to open up the machine. Thanks from Denmark.

      Hi Peter,
      There is a special tool that is used to remove oval head screws from Jura espresso machines. Here is the link to purchase the Jura oval head tool:
      www.juraparts.com/products/jura-oval-head-tool
      When was the last time you descaled/decalcified your Jura J9.3? Descaling the Jura J9.3 is the single most important maintenance. It helps to remove calcium sediments from water passages inside the machine, improves hot water temperature, and ensure full jet of steam for steaming milk. Please descale your Jura J9.3 if you have not done so. Please stop using the Jura Clearyl filter, if you are, as it's completely ineffective and useless. It only removes bad tasting odor from the water and does not remove calcium sediments.

    • @peterklitgaard836
      @peterklitgaard836 7 років тому +2

      Thanks again. As you states, the machine needed a good descaling. Since I could not open up the machine my self, (without the oval head tool) - hence I turned the machine over to repair shop. It is now back, as new and working again. Thanks for your time and effort :-)

    Hey! I see that you're luckily quite active and responding and I would be VERY grateful if you could answer. I have a Jura J5 machine, but when I try to make an espresso, coffee, anything, it doesn't pour the coffee out and it just seems to grind up beans, drop them in the little plastic cup & release water in the bottom of the machine.
    Is there any fix to this?

    • @PartsGuruUSA
      @PartsGuruUSA  9 років тому +1

      jodawgsup Hi, It seems like the water inlet to the brew group is not opening hence hot water could not get into the coffee compacting cup for brewing coffee. Please make coffee using pre ground coffee and let me know if you are able to make coffee.

      +Olivier Leroy there's a switch over valve in J9 seated beside the display module. It determines whether to direct coffee from the brew group the left or center hole. Based on your description, it seems that this switch over valve is not working properly and directing coffee only to center hole. What happens when you make just a regular coffee? Does it dispense from the center or left hole?

    Cleaning lady put some water in the bean grinder and now grinder works but beans don't drop into the grinder and machine says to fill beans, tho it is full. I cleaned out and dryed out the reservoir and used a cake tester to clean as far down into the grinder as possible--still the beans don't drop, the machine whirrs, but no grinding is happening. Suggestions?

    • @PartsGuruUSA
      @PartsGuruUSA  9 років тому +1

      Hi Russell, You may want to open the machine, and clean out the grinder. You will need to remove the grinder burrs, and clean out the grinding chamber. The inside is clogged with residual ground coffee.
      If you're unable to fix it yourself, then you can send it to us for repairs.

    Hi,
    thanks for your very helpful videos which helped me to repair my J5 in the past.
    My J9.3 recently developed a problem. After accidentally spilling some water over my J9.3, the machine when starting up displays "Jura" in red letters on an otherwise black TFT screen. The dial wheel on top blinks red for less than 10 seconds. Then 3 beeps are audible, and the machine shuts itself off. Is this some sort of an error code? If so, what does it indicate, and who can I fix it? Thanks very much for your help.

    We poored water in the pre-ground coffee
    We tried to take all the water out and dry it with a hair dryer the best we could

    Please let me know

      +Marie Burban Wohlfahrt-Khaelss Pouring the water in the pre ground funnel should not cause any issues. You're lucky you didn't pour it into the grinder with coffee beans. That would have required taken the machine apart.

    I've had my J90 (second hand, new in box) for about 7 years. No problems until a few days ago when I pressed the "coffee" button, the grinder runs and then the machine shuts off. No beeps, no blinks. I found your video and took the machine apart to examine and clean the brew group. While cleaning, a stainless washer fell out. Later, I heard a rattling inside, and after shaking and rotating the brew group, a stainless bushing came out. I have no idea (despite much searching) where in the machine these belong. I lubed the brew group with food grade grease and put it back together. It is working, but I can't help but wonder where the extra parts go. Any ideas?

      There are 4 metal washers that connect to each sliding arm and under. There is also a metal retaining clip that secures the metal rod to bottom of the brew unit.

    Hi, my Jura ENA Micro 1 sometimes doesn't make the turn off washing cycle. It just sounds as the group motor stalls and then it turns off, but doesn't pumps water. Then I can't open the drip tray, because the group is not on it's home position, so I need to turn it on again so it goes back and open the tray.
    Sometimes it does do the washing cylce and turns off with no problem.
    The machine is one year old. I use it daily to brew one shot then I turn it off again. I've cleaned and descaled when the machine requests to. What could it be the problem?

      @PartsGuruUSA  7 років тому

      Hi Aung Pe, How long have you owned the machine? Has your machine ever been serviced? How many cups of the coffee have you made from J9.2? The issue could be related to the blunt and worn out grinder burrs that are located inside the grinder.

    Hi, thank you for the information. We are interested in buying the new 9.4. And there are some questions: How is the over all build quality? Is it also all plastic? How efficient and reliable is the full automatic cleaning process? We don't want to be poisoned by germs!
    If you find time to answer: Thank you very much!

    • @PartsGuruUSA
      @PartsGuruUSA  10 років тому +4

      Oliver Leu External casing for all Jura coffee machines is made of ABS plastic. In fact, super automatic machines manufactured by other brands all use plastic. Only the commercial grade and recently introduced prosumer models such as Magister Stella, Expobar, ECM machines are designed with full stainless steel body. That is primarily so because the manufacturers have partial interest with stainless steel manufacturing companies.
      You can use Jura cleaning tablets or any other effective tablets to weekly clean the brew group of your machine. In addition, you should descale your machine every six months to prevent calcium build up inside the hydraulic system. Regular cleaning and descaling will keep your machine in pristine condition and will create amazing and flavorful coffee for 10 plus years.
      The secret to any good machine is its maintenance!
