Whether cooking at home or eating out, chicken and turkey are an all-American favorite. Baked, roasted, grilled or fried. Perhaps the juicy dark meat of a turkey leg for the holidays. Or a plate of chicken wings served up for a ballgame on TV. But like many of our favorite foods, we often don’t think about all the hard work that takes place before it reaches our plate.

You also fail to realize that a human's heart is much bigger than a chicken's. It would take probably about 10-12 chicken hearts to make 1 human heart. So the human heart takes much more.

There are two types of farms: factory farms and non-factory farms. The latter is much healthier and the food is better, especially the eggs. I had an allergic reaction to factory eggs. We need meat to survive. In conclusion, I think that factory farms are bad

I work at a processing factory. I'm 17 and it's rather "old school" people still pluck feathers and me I was taking the chickens and putting them onto pinning racks. now I'm a packager. usually when I'm in there I think "wow this is nasty and it stinks I don't think I'll be eating chicken for awhile" then I get off work. I'm tired. I got to diary queen and order a chicken strip basket
I'm usually the last person to get off work. there's only 1 stack of racks and none other who package and put them away. so I gotta put chickens on racks. so like 200 chicken a whole rack. making it like 2000 chickens a day. so tiring.

This is quite the ad. We're supposed to see a streamlined factory process, run in the best interest of consumers and chickens. We all know that in reality, though, meat based diets are at the heart of all of our nation's leading chronic diseases. We also know better: chickens aren't the automatons the video tries to paint them as. Regardless, hanging them by their feet and shocking them by their heads isn't the "humane" or "respectful" treatment the narrator speaks of, especially when he makes a point about the chickens' capacity to suffer. We, as consumers, are supposed to feel informed and reassured by this video. But there's far too much conflict of interest to trust its credibility.

This is not propaganda but real. I personally know a former engineer from the poultry industry and he has many stories of how serious and irrevocable sanitation standards are in that field. The smallest thing wrong can halt production and stop the line so intense focus and scrutiny are placed on every tiny detail. I was impressed from his experience. I have a stomach condition and can only eat poultry and fish. I eat a lot of it too.

I work for a large poultry company driving a forklift to load outbound trucks and I make close to $20 an hour. It's a good job and I like to think it is helping to feed people around the world.

When you eat eggs you still support the industry. Male chicks are blended at birth so you can have eggs. The dairy industry is awful as well because you’re also supporting the slaughter of male calfs.

yes, i eat a lot of chicken, and no i dont want to cause suffering for humans & animals.. i am a hypocrite but at least i can admit it. but people who claim to have a moral high ground just because they stopped eating meat are partly hypocrites, too. if you really want to reduce the amount of suffering in the world you could take action right now and make a difference in the world. you could increase the life quality for all sorts of life as we know it including humans by reducing the amount of your own comfort. i personally think that i deserved the comfort i have now because i worked really hard back when i was younger.

Actually, not eating meat can have a monumental impact on animals, the environment, your own health, and human rights as well. An astronomical amount of resources today (water, land, rainforests) are allocated for use of animal agriculture, which honestly is a waste of resources. Many more plants can be grown on the same amount of land. Not to mention the land and water pollution that occurs around industrial plants. Many communities nearby those factories have higher reported rates of cancers and diseases. Also, factory farm workers have one of the highest injury rates in the country and are often underpaid migrant workers. Cowspiracy is a really good movie that covers the environmental impact of animal agriculture (which is now widely considered to be more destructive than the entire transportation industry combined).
