It's not really viable to do with the numbers of chickens we eat today unfortunately :( They've been selectively breed to grow so fast that they really can't walk around & enjoy outdoor life, they need to be kept indoors for protection from the weather & predators. Organic regulations, that give them outdoor space, limit growth speed/selective breeding to reduce the rate of growth to around 1/3rd of these chickens so they can safely spend time outdoors acting like chickens naturally do, but that means efficency is only 1/3rd that of these chickens & so price must be 3 times higher to compensate. If you want animals that have been humanely farmed, choose certified organic, or choose ruminant animals (cows, sheep, goats etc) that naturally eat grass inedible to humans & therefore are the top choice to raise in free range, low quality agricultural land areas. Milk needs a little better land, as they must be closer to humans due to the need for daily milk transports (while beef cows can spend a year where they are before any transports) but is still a good option when properly managed & egg chickens can be intergrated into milk systems too in holistic grazing/permaculture systems for the ultimate in animal welfare while still acheiving high production levels, but meat chickens & pigs really can't be at the levels we currently eat :(

i grew up in a countryside house in tuscany, i will never forget the taste of the chicken and the pork that we raised and slaughtered, nothing compared to a supermarket, a completely different taste, and we all knew that the animals lived a happy life and ate good food without any shitty antibiotics or other shit

Like a boss 12 they knock them out with a special mixture of CO2 and other gasses like the hospitals do to avoid an adrenaline rush. Adrenaline in the veins can make the meat very sour and bitter. Most meat produces knock them out before slaughter for this reason.

I was an electrician for Tyson chicken in the southeast US. Several of the farmers sold all their chickens to McDonald's. I built and maintained chicken houses. You can see the chickens growing right before your eyes. Chick to table in 6 weeks. Its disgusting really. Hundreds die daily, sometimes they would just jump straight up into the air and be dead of a heart attack (from growth hormones). The other chickens would immediately start eating the dead ones. They have the feed silos and right next to them, the hormone silos that are just as big as the feed silos. Dead chickens everyday, hundreds. Foxes, Coyotes, skunks, bobcats.. they all love them some fat chickens, they always find a way in the chicken house, or chew thru the walls to get to them. Its a constant battle for the chicken farmers. Not anywhere near as sanitary as this looks. Makes you look at mcnuggets in a whole new light.

I think the lengths they go to avoid talking about what happens when a female chick is not up to par or if the chick is born male is more than a little deceitful. If you partake in the consumption of meat at ANY age, it is your responsibility to know where that meat came from and how it got from its place of origin to your plate. I was an electrician for Tyson chicken in the southeast US. Several of the farmers sold all their chickens to McDonald's. I built and maintained chicken houses. You can see the chickens growing right before your eyes. Chick to table in 6 weeks. Its disgusting really. Hundreds die daily, sometimes they would just jump straight up into the air and be dead of a heart attack (from growth hormones). The other chickens would immediately start eating the dead ones. They have the feed silos and right next to them, the hormone silos that are just as big as the feed silos. Dead chickens everyday, hundreds. Foxes, Coyotes, skunks, bobcats.. they all love them some fat chickens, they always find a way in the chicken house, or chew thru the walls to get to them. Its a constant battle for the chicken farmers. Not anywhere near as sanitary as this looks. Makes you look at mcnuggets in a whole new light.

I think the lengths they go to avoid talking about what happens when a female chick is not up to par or if the chick is born male is more than a little deceitful. If you partake in the consumption of meat at ANY age, it is your responsibility to know where that meat came from and how it got from its place of origin to your plate. If you cannot tell, i am omnivorous in the same manner all humans are naturally predisposed to being. Not eating meat is a choice. Eating meat is an instinct. But that does not mean one should turn a blind eye to the industry that produces it. People NEED to be aware of the conditions on factory farming. Covering it up with light hearted music and pretending it doesn't happen is just like shoving your fingers in your ears and going lalalalala is no better than the abusive individuals that mistreat the animals in their charge. But it's also important to keep in mind not all farms are factory farms and raising meat for consumption is not all one and the same. Simply shoving a vegan agenda on people and calling it the only answer is just as harmful and manipulative as the pro-vegan lobbyists' propaganda footage.
As deplorable as factory farm footage is, so too is the concept of veganism being the only answer.
