🌺🌿🌻Laura, You've asked twice now how we stuck around when your south garden was just an empty field... I can say for me, & I'm sure there's others that think this too, I actually prefer watching you build something from nothing, as opposed to just planting a new plant in an already perfect garden. I like seeing how you handled weeds, or handled digging & planting in really hard dirt. You have given me a lot of ideas on how I can tackle things. Seeing the two of you tackle the empty south field is more real life to most people. Because very few people start out with a perfect garden... It gives hope & encouragement that ANYBODY can take ANYTHING & turn it into something wonderful.
As to how the audience sticks with you through the 'powder dirt' stage, I will say any true gardener is mesmerized by planting. There is nothing happier or more thrilling than watching a garden take shape & plants go into the ground. It's so satisfying to watch even when someone else is doing it! Thanks for sharing the joy! And YES! Deer jump fences! A fence has to be at least 7ft. tall as white tail deer have trouble seeing closeup up to around 6ft., so usually won't try any taller fence.
Also if you angle the fence ( not straight up and down) the deer can not jump it. (It's something fence installers do not like doing but they will if you insist. ) Deer can jump high and they can jump wide, like over a stream, but they can not jump a comination of high and wide. ( hope that made sense ) I live in a forest surrounded by a herd of 30 - 40 deer. I grow over 80 varieties of Hosta inside my fence. No deer issues.
@@MarianneRuffhaven I've also heard if you put up two fences, at least 4 ft apart, deer cannot clear it, even if the fence is only 4 ft tall. I have a cemetery which used to belong to my house and there’s a cast iron heavy duty six foot fence between us which adult deer can clear but the babies constantly get caught in. The ambulance crews have had to use that special saw several times in the past thirty years to release trapped fawns. We have a regular herd of about fifteen that visit the pasture regularly……but they are blocked from front hosta garden!

Was so Amazing to meet you two as well as Jenny and Jerry at the Grand Garden Show. This was a Bucket List trip for me and meeting all of you was the Icing on the Cake for me. Thank you so much 💓 I find it amusing that you thought Mackinac Island was humid. I come from Iowa Zone 5 and thought Mackinac Island was refreshing and much less humid than where I came from. 💖💖💖 I did see a riding lawn mower while I was there. There is an unbelievable amount of grass on this island. It would take weeks just to mow it all. I don't think a tie is required but a suit jacket is required.
We stuck around because you are amazing, because we are just as thrilled as you to see how it will develope, and at least for me because I have learned more new things in the last years from following you than in many years before! As an 60+ old Swedish lady with more than 30 years of gardening in a totally diffrent climat this feels amazing!! 🙏🙏🙏 Thank You ❤️❤️❤️
😂😂 the look Aaron gave Laura when she said “going ham” is the same look my son gives me when I say it. I’m glad it’s not just me that isn’t hip to the new stuff….see, I even still say “hip”, that’s my lane and I guess I need to realize it once and for all 😂😂
@Sophia Patrillo, 😂🤣😂🤣😂 Keep doing it, just to embarrass your son; especially, if his friends are around.... Us parents must keep our children humble.😉
Both Laura and Aaron are attractive, but their real beauty shines out from within. They are genuinely lovable, they exude kindness and generosity. What the world needs more of for sure. 🤗
I planted a hydrangea in June and it looked great for a couple of weeks then turned totally brown. I saw a “Laura video” where she cut everything back and hoped for the best , so I did that. A month later, it had a ton of new growth :) So glad I did not give up on one of my favorite flowers!
You can follow Jack Barnwell on his UA-cam channel if you're interested. His latest video is of his grandparent's first cottage on Mackinac Island. He says in the video that his grandparents bought and his grandma still owns the Hotel Iroquois on the island. He states he spent summers on the island from the time he was a little boy. He seems to have a great passion for helping keep this iconic island's traditional Victorian vibe while making it even more beautiful. Yes, many of the homes here are worth millions. And they are at least as famous as the "painted ladies" homes of San Francisco. There's history here worth preserving in my opinion and it's a magical place to visit. The horses and buggies and old homes are like stepping back in time. I appreciate that people with the means to do so are spending some of their money to preserve these homes for their own legacies as well as for visitors. Because they care and spend the money, we regular people can simply walk the streets for the price of a fast ferry ride to the island (which is a lot of fun) walk back in time. and enjoy this historic place.
Appreciated attending the Garden Show this year! Absolutely beautiful experience and worth the trip. The down pour of rain was so welcoming and enjoyable to walk in. A shout out to all the PW volunteers that made the tours in the private gardens possible.
Yes, there are deer on the island. Yes, they can jump fences: our farmers (3 hours from Mackinac) build fences 10’ tall to keep them out of orchards. Winter population on Mackinac Island is about 500 people-there’s a school, medical facility, store, etc…. On the garden tours, docents specifically told us NOT to pet the horses.
Yes on Key West they have tiny deer that people leave alone and don’t freak out when they see them in their yards but instead treat them like Sacred cows. So cute.
Love You and your Family, especially Benjamin and Samantha's enthusiasm! Your videos are my blessing from God! I am 69 years old and like Benjamin my Mother started my gardening path when I was 3 years old! I just want to let you know that a clear piece of glass will protect your antiques from the drops of water. God bless
I watch all the videos, a lot of the older ones. Laura you are a teacher and a gardener who gets her hands dirty. I love that! I too love playing in the dirt. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, family and yourself.
I giggled when you were talking about your wardrobe at the Grand Garden event. I am sooo with you on that! The best part of retirement for me is wearing capris, not wearing makeup 17 hours a day …and throwing my hair up in a ponytail!
It's your energy, love of plants, giving us little details, suggestions, how to.Aarons expertise, the kids. Mom, dad, sister, the list goes on and on. Thank you for educating us as well as brightening our lives.
Laura, you should totally bring your mum to the next proven winners show on mackinaw island! She would LOVE those gardens, and it would be such a good time seeing you two puttering around with jack. Thanks for all the great videos!
Following you guys allows me to figure out what may look good for my own limited space. I can't try every plant that my eyes land on in my local garden center. With limited space, I have to control myself, and know what I'll be working with for the season. Things that don't work out have a bigger effect on a smaller space. Through you, I can determine growth patterns, shapes, and textures and develop a plan on how I could apply the knowledge. For instance, one thing I learned from you is to use color patters and textures. In my much younger days, it was all about flowers. Flowers, however, mostly work as interests when they exist, and most plants aren't in-bloom 6 months a year.
Arron has a great idea with the dug out pathways for stacked stone walls. It’d be such a cozy feeling walking with a change in perspective seeing plants at different heights. Highly recommend carrying the idea out. Watch for water lines 🤙🏽
Lol, the Grand Hotel charges $10.00 a person just to walk on the porch & I remember the strict dress code use to be up held years ago. I recommend you watch the video about how the winter is on the island. The snowmobile trail that they line with used Christmas trees to show the way from the mainland to the island. Sometimes there is open water and that is crazy! Michigan, the winter wonderland.
Girl, if you want to pick an audience with vision, patience, and imagination who can see potential in a blank slate, gardeners are IT! We are inspired by witnessing the hard work that goes into creating something beautiful, so those of us who have been here a while are thrilled to watch the south garden take shape as we imagine along with you. Thanks for bringing us along!
It’s the journey, Laura, not the little stops in between, and having you and Aaron on the trip, make it all such fun and informative. We gardeners are always searching for more information and ideas, and you guys have planted a plethora of different plants, in many different conditions, all of which give support to the rest of us out here. And, the presentation is always straight forward and quick moving. Even if we don’t use the exact idea, the culture of the show is always positive, changing and beautiful. A wonderful place to be for we amateurs. Thanks for providing a venue that speaks to other garden enthusiasts. Always a pleasure.
Oh Laura, the way the gardens have grown is amazing. In answer to your question "why we stayed around during all this growth" You are ALWAYS doing something. You two have a PLAN and it is coming together. You are the energy bunny. The tours you did with Jack was so wonderful. He explains what is going on in his mind as he looks at a landscape. I did see an old video of him in his log cabin cooking a salmon dinner....you and your Mom would have fun with that. Did you know he plays the piano??
So clear that the climate in any given area, dictates so much of what you can plant and what will succeed. Best to look around at neighbors’ successful gardens to see what will work where you live.
I loved the video of you in the rain. What a fun your. Seeing your sweet daughter immediately bite into a tomato that you and Benjamin had picked was priceless.
Funny, I thought the same about Jacks comment! Roses are phenomenal and I was disappointed to not see any. I can’t say I was exactly thrilled with his garden choices. Just me! I’m more impressed with Garden answers gardens! I would so be down to visit your property, it’s heavenly 🤍
Hi Kimmy, I was able to attend the garden show! Jack Explained that he only uses plants that are tried and true plants that don’t have to be fussed with! If a plant requires extra attention, it will not be used! He knows what it takes to keep the garden looking good during all of the summer months! Just like Laura in her garden, she knows what works best! I do too love roses but they sure are hard here in Missouri! 😁
I had Japanese beetles earlier this year on the East Coast. I put out a bird feeder and boom! Gone! The bird feeder brought in all types of birds and some of them just love those Japanese beetles!
@@cynthiafisher9907 love your reply. I did some research 1st. I ended up using a mixed seed for wild birds. I've seen starlings, doves, Cardinals Etc and everyday I have to fill it. Well I put a big giant Cup in there I don't fill it all the way up as the one time I did they tipped it over. It was all over the ground.. I don't have a squirrel issue so it's definitely birds eating it I see them. Now I have a hummingbird that visits everyday. Feeding from the Dahlia's which are nothing to brag about but he finds interest in them and I find interest in him. Now I'm happy to feed them throughout the winter. It's been most joyous

I watched Jack in a tour a year ago when he toured his log cabin. He plays the piano and said he gets “ caught up in it!” Laura I wish you would share your classical piano talent while showing your gardens sometime!
I think having the dress code after six is wonderful, we are getting way to casual in our dress. Sometimes it is just so nice to dress up. Living in New Orleans we have several restaurants that require a coat for gentleman. They keep extras in a closet in case someone forgets.
I follow you because you give details, successes and fails, I appreciate your knowledge and sense of style and organization in your different gardens. I also enjoy the communication between you and Aaron, and how you work through problems together. I also enjoy your voice cadence. It’s like visiting with a friend. Thank you for your Garden Answer Channel.
The best time is I would say end of May thru October. I’m a Michigan Native and have even been up in Mackinac City in mid November. October is a season a Fall color and the further north you go the better the color. I love the history of Mackinac and the history of how our lakes were formed and the ships it’s taken.
Kim, Here's a little Tiger Trivia for you: Mackinaw City is in the lower peninsula. Mackinac Island is of course the island. Notice the different spellings. It took me years to properly spell them.
I live in Wisconsin and after years of struggling with Japanese beetles and mildew etc.., I pulled my roses, hollyhocks, and Rose of Sharon trees🥵 I'm sure others have more time to deal with this, but I don't unfortunately! I literally could shake my Rose of Sharon trees and see hundreds of Japanese Beetles fly off! When I started gardening years ago, this was not the case. I have decided to opt for all my beautiful hydrangeas, hostas, lilacs, clematis , and annuals. I have deer, turkeys, raccoons, and an occasional possum. I have found solutions for these guys! The rabbits are the trickiest to keep out of veggies until the plants grow enough! I just so enjoy that you do not have most of these issues!
I think so many of us viewers would travel to see your beautiful gardens! I have loved seeing the transformation of your property. Your soil and climate is so similar to mine, but we do tend to get more humid mid to late summer. It gives me hope to see all of your flowers, shrubs, and trees just loving life. You and Aaron have inspired me to really dive head first into gardening in the last year and add beauty and interest to my home. I'm hoping to remodel the front entry and porch to our home next year and I've got so many ideas ❤️ Thank you for the continued inspiration!
Yes! 😬Please create a beautiful, believable houseplant line! I would definitely purchase and I bet many would. Consider other people’s busy lives and different size homes and environments. Go “ham” on the idea of a line. Lol I literally lol on that one. So cute
I was born in Michigan and lived there my whole life until recently. If you have a home “up north”, everyone calls them cottages. And best time to travel there is June - September. It’s still pretty cold in May. I enjoyed watching you and home tour. I highly recommend Jack’s book on The Gardens of Mackinac. It’s got history and the gardens.
Yes, everyone does feel that way about where they live. The pros and cons of any area are there for everyone to deal with, just as you said about hosta. You have wind and heat in Oregon, we have deer and rabbits, and the beastly sun, in Williamsburg, VA, which peeks through any hole in the canopy to burn hosta. We all have learned the hard way. I am desperate right now to have cone flowers some where in my garden. Just bought a bunch, AGAIN, and covered them completely with bird netting, instead of spraying and taking any chances. Don’t know if I will have to cover them forever, but I will win the battle for now, a very good feeling.
I have 24 - Rose of Sharon’s on my outer border of land. They are 8 to 12 feet high…the hummingbirds love them. My husband uses mulch to keep moisture & weeds down. We have many sparrow nests in them…the Rose of Sharons are 13 years old. I enjoy your channel & commentary! May God continue to bless your family, your beautiful home & land! 🕊
Laura’s “hi-ya!” made me grin, because if Samantha Grace is anything like my rambunctious daughter was as a little girl, trees will be climbed, walls will be scaled, ponds will be swam, frogs will be studied, and walls will be “hi-ya”d. Oh, and I would fly from Australia to see your garden in real life Laura and Aaron 💚
Relating to the deer questions (first vid re Mackinac Island), yes, Aaron, deer DO jump fences. When I gardened on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada (about 1.5 hours north of Butchart Gardens, Laura), if you didn't want deer chowing on your plants, you fenced - and the fence had to be AT LEAST 6 feet tall. Also, there's a natural product called Bobbex which was my saviour in my front gardens which were not fenced to that extent. It's comprised of garlic, eggs (I think) and a number of other natural ingredients that deter deer, rabbits, etc don't like. However it needs to be applied every 10 days to 2 weeks to be truly effective. The animals particularly love the new, tender growth, so regular applications saved my plantings. It's the only way I saved my roses, etc. in the front. I never planted tulips or hostas in the front, though, because they are true deer candy!
Laura and Aaron, definite yes to a joint project with Jack Barnwell! Just like when Jennie from Creekside came to visit. Both your channels would benefit and PW. I was thinking that when you guys were together. He could plan a section ahead of time, and then you could do a fun implementation video(s) Love both of you guys and your content!💜🌸💜💐💜🌺💜
Its so funny sitting here being from Michigan and nodding my head or answering your questions. One answer is anytime is a great time to visit the island. Love being able to tour the gardens that are only viewed from the road. Often wondered what’s behind. Lots of beauty in Northern Michigan. Maybe one day I will be able to make the garden show.
Jack is an incredible landscape designer, I really enjoyed the tours! Thank you for taking us with you. Can't wait to see what you'll be doing this fall.
You have such a God given creative talent and if everyone else feels the way I do, you give us inspiration for our own spaces. I can’t wait from day to day to watch what task you have in mind.
I started following Jack Barnwell because of the introduction on your channel. He is amazing! You could bribe him to visit your gardens with your gorgeous piano, he plays too! 😄
I love hearing the planning and brainstorming in action! We are like a fly on the wall for garden planning. It sounds like the kiddos did great while you were traveling too! What a blessing.
Hi Laura, i feel you do not dislike house plants as I see your joy around them. Could be that your work is all about the garden and your home is your respite. With house plants there is no (clocking off) and when you get home from a long day they are a reminder that there is still more work to be done? Love them anyway x
I am a Michigander!! The winters up by Mackinac Island can be harsh and the lake between the Upper Pennisulia and Island freezes usually really good and the deer and other animals cross during this season. So yes there are deer on the island. In case you have never heard there is an ice bridge they will breathe after Christmas with old Christmas trees. It's a cool but sad story.
@@TD32333 yes it is. My neighbors growing up family owned many things on the island including hotel, restaurants, bike rental, fudge shops and Starbuck. As kids we traveled to the island many times. Sadly my old neighbor's brother in law along with Jack's grandma passed earlier this year. They were pioneers and built a great foundation for what the island is today. Hope you get to visit it someday. you will not be disappointed.
I love Aaron’s idea with stacked stone- a sunken garden would be really special. You two are fun to watch talking through your ideas. I did lunch with Laura in 2019 and we met wonderful people and it was a great memory from the show.
Aaron and Laura, it was nice to see and hear you at the Grand Garden Show.Being a 'local', I had the privilege of volunteering again. It is fun to see and hear you represent our Mackinac County and Mackinac Island so accurately. Thanks for the highlights !!
Glad you both have decided to remove the boxwoods. Take pics because they were good for while they lasted. But Aaron is right about using the space differently. It will look more in sync with the natural look of the other improvements you've made. Glad you're back. Thank you for the vids you did up there. Aaron & you are so complimentary together. Thank you for all you do.
Laura you and your hubby are amazing. I love your content and even ventured out to do more planting because of you. I was just a little bit disappointed when you broke the attire rules while at the Garden Show and then publicly shared it. Someone else may try it and be asked to leave. Just a little disrespectful. That being said, I totally get not being comfortable. I’m not sure that I even have business casual clothes I can fit in anymore. May you all continue to be blessed. Can’t wait for the next videos.
I visit the island and hotel just about every year and I've certainly witnessed hotel staff address people out of attire and ask them to either return to their room if they were staying there or to leave if they weren't. But, the once family owned hotel did sell to a large luxury chain and they seem to be slowly abandoning the details that make the Grand Hotel, Grand.
I talked to one of the residents of the island and there are about 500+ permanent residents there. Lots of restaurants and tourist shop do close but there are some that stay open for the locals . In the winter the residents are in charge of plowing 6 feet deep snow on majority of the roads . The city only plows through the Main Street near the docks.
At 24:52 and the conversation about "what would you do in these conditions?" -- this is the perennial thing! I have moved a lot in my life. I was born and spent my early years in CA, where my maternal great grandmother cared for us in a garden in Sacramento, while my grandmother was gardening in the forest outside of Seattle, WA. At 9, we moved to Arkansas, and at 18, to Pennsylvania. We've lived in 3 parts of Pennsylvania, which gave me different micro-climates in a given climate zone, but also each had different soil, different light conditions, different "pests" (beetles, mites, etc). Then, we moved to Aotearoa/New Zealand, and I'm in a different what we think is a zone 9, but coastal, windy, poor soil (sometimes just bare sand), and the light is. . . lets go with interesting because there's a steep ridge directly behind our house that, in winter, blocks sun at about 3 pm, and in summer, around 5 pm! The real point is -- you figure it out and fairly quickly. Things will either thrive or not! My lavender, star jasmine, dianthus, alstromeria, spider plants, herbs and osteospermum daisies are thriving -- so i guess I'll grow more of those! :)
Aaron, dry stone walls exist right across the county of Yorkshire in England - the wall is built in such a way it is strong enough to with stand the very harsh weather of of the north England. Some of the dry stone walls have been in situ for centuries.
The tour with just the music was so nice to relax and watch. A visit there is not in my financial budget (living on Social Security) but your videos make me feel like I have been there too. I may put that video on a loop and watch and listen as I clean house . Thank you for all you do that is so inspiring and helpful to us gardeners.
@@staceyallard2692It was my mistake. The video started up automatically on my feed and I thought it was done by Aaron on the end. In fact it is a video put out by the island to show off the gardens.
Good morning, Laura & Aaron. Great recap. Would love to make a trip with my sisters 👯♀️ to the island. The size of the “cottages” is astounding. Makes you wonder what their primary residence looks like. Welcome home! Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
Yes, deer can jump a fence as high as 12 feet! So far at my new place I have not had to deal with deer yet!! But my neighbors with three big barking dogs moved last week. I hope the new neighbors have dogs as they seem to have kept the deer away (they are all around me). I do have bunnies. But so far they are happy just eating the undergrowth in my wooded area. If they turn into a problem I am going to plant a lettuce garden near the edge of my property for them.
Great recap, thank you! In regards to roses, I have stopped growing them completely here in the east coast because of powdery mildew, black spot, beetles and sawfly larvae. I don’t spray pesticides in my garden and roses don’t take to a humid climate as well unless you are willing to spray which I am not any longer. I do love them though!
Everyone has their own vision and style. I like that you and Aaron have put your personal tastes and talents to life on your property. You may see other plantings and landscape ideas that inspire you but you put your own touch to the final production. Keep doing this and don’t take too much advise from others. Keep it your own! I take inspiration from you but I enjoy making it my own when I landscape (I have enjoyed changing things up in my yard with your wonderful videos).
Just start bottom watering all of your houseplants. Check the soil dampness level and leaf hydration during daily kid chores or cooking or tidying, or when you need an indoor break in AC or need to stand up from computer desk. All the ones you know are nearly dry and time to water, take them to a big flat tub in a kitchen or butlers pantry or bathroom, and in the morning, bottom water in the rub or tray, and go have your day. A few hours later, if the top has gotten damp by then, you can dump it out and place them back on their trays to take to where they live.
In Michigan the term “Cottage” refers not to the size of the house but to the location and use of the house. A cottage is a residence that is usually located on a lake and is for summer (usually weekend) use. Some cottages are very modest and others (such as the ones on Mackinac Island) are elaborate.
I enjoyed the videos you did on the island. That place looks gorgeous and Jack does beautiful work! Just saw a couple of videos on his channel. His grandma’s house and his log house are amazing!! I’ve been watching your channel for years. Have loved seeing the progress.
Jenna, not sure you will see this. Very few people ever mention this but your hydrangea may have root rot. If it were my plant, I would dig it up making sure I got all the rootball & check it for rot. Then when it was replanted, I would set it a little high. Not enough water is not always the issue. Sometimes it is too much that causes a problem.

🙏🙏🙏 Thank You ❤️❤️❤️
Jack did a great tour of the Brigadoon Cottage with Jenny from Gardening with Creekside.
@@kimberleyfrasquillo3684 🤣🤣🤣I like the way you think 💯🤣
It freaks me out that so many expressions I used when I was younger now mean the total opposite! 🤔
Whew!😊
You are welcome. It is our privilege to serve AND to live in this amazing part of the world !!
God bless
The Lilac Festival is an amazing time to be on the Island. I follow Jack's UA-cam and he gives tours on the Island from time to time.
What is his UA-cam channel?

I watch all the videos, a lot of the older ones. Laura you are a teacher and a gardener who gets her hands dirty. I love that! I too love playing in the dirt. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, family and yourself.
I giggled when you were talking about your wardrobe at the Grand Garden event. I am sooo with you on that! The best part of retirement for me is wearing capris, not wearing makeup 17 hours a day …and throwing my hair up in a ponytail!
🤣🤣🤣she says she's deleting the question!! HAHA! She is beautiful! Her eyes are gorgeous
The secret garden was so whimsical!! So pretty and charming.
Had to Google going ham...hard as a m......! Learn more than just gardening with Laura and Aaron😆
Joyce- hahaha, i JUST watched that video of jack last night!!!
He’s adorable!!! I’m pretty sure I’m going to try that salmon recipe this fall too!
I saw the same video of Jack making the salmon dinner. He is such an artist & craftsman, as are members of his family.
Cool!

We stick around because it is fun to be on the journey with you. We become a part of it too. Thank you!
Kim,
Here's a little Tiger Trivia for you:
Mackinaw City is in the lower peninsula.
Mackinac Island is of course the island.
Notice the different spellings.
It took me years to properly spell them.
They have a lovely Christmas tree lighting and carol sing the first week of December. Great time to be on the island. Few tourists!
I had to pass on TWO opportunities to visit this year (due to the C🙄😤). Goals for next year.
We stuck because we knew you would make it beautiful. And you do not disappoint.
Aaron is right about the stacked stone.
His book may be hard to find? Not listed on Amazon, for example ...
@@dianequist835 go to his website. It’s in stock.
That is in fact the correct use of going ham, Laura :)
Claudia, I'm in South Africa and also dream of visiting Laura and Aaron's garden!!! Think I'd need to win the Lottery but it's good to dream😁
Their garden, her mum's and Mackinac Island. Aussie here too.

He could plan a section ahead of time, and then you could do a fun implementation video(s)
Love both of you guys and your content!💜🌸💜💐💜🌺💜
I think ideas are fine. But designed by Jack Barnwell would no longer be Laura and Erin’s garden.
You being so excited to show us the secret garden that you’d do it in the rain… that was special!
We stuck around because we knew y'all would work your magic on the area! Can't wait for the Hartley grounds to start!
Love drone footage, would love to see more of it. It put things into perspective so much differently.
I started following Jack Barnwell because of the introduction on your channel. He is amazing! You could bribe him to visit your gardens with your gorgeous piano, he plays too! 😄
That would be fun to see them play together!
48:39. I know that one! They always played that in cartoons at a funeral!
I love hearing the planning and brainstorming in action! We are like a fly on the wall for garden planning. It sounds like the kiddos did great while you were traveling too! What a blessing.
Aaron, you looked so handsome in a dress shirt and suit coat. Some occasions call for dressier attire and you stepped up to the plate. Great job.
Laura said "Going HAM"! 😂 😂 😂 😂. That's DEFINITELY slang and you DEFINITELY used it right! 😂 💯🤌🏿

Invite Jack by telling him you have a Steinway piano! He plays beautifully!!!
Very small deer herd on the island. My friend who lives on the island says she hardly ever sees them. Jack also redid her yard up by Mission Point.
I'll bet it's beautiful!
@@TD32333 yes it is. My neighbors growing up family owned many things on the island including hotel, restaurants, bike rental, fudge shops and Starbuck. As kids we traveled to the island many times. Hope you get to visit it someday. you will not be disappointed.
I love Aaron’s idea with stacked stone- a sunken garden would be really special. You two are fun to watch talking through your ideas. I did lunch with Laura in 2019 and we met wonderful people and it was a great memory from the show.

Wow Aaron. Looking good in a dress shirt and jacket at the Garden Show!
It seems, the working mini vacation rejuvenated you both! I see a fresh glow with those smiles 😃
Did I miss a video? I don’t remember one with just music..??
@@staceyallard2692It was my mistake. The video started up automatically on my feed and I thought it was done by Aaron on the end. In fact it is a video put out by the island to show off the gardens.
I absolutely love Laura. I have just learned so much.
That cracked me up when you hummed Chopin's Funeral March when you were talking about killing houseplants. :)
That’s a lovely thing to do for the bunnies! They’ll definitely appreciate it.
FYI: yes, we ate on the golf course and they were cutting the grass with huge riding lawn mowers an they also had blowers.
My winter home is Near Jacks winter home and I go to Naples frequently just to see his work!
it's knowing that there is more to come, your viewers have faith in you, thank you for sharing your knowledge and gifts.
We stick around for your shining personality and all the knowledge we can gather
In Michigan the term “Cottage” refers not to the size of the house but to the location and use of the house. A cottage is a residence that is usually located on a lake and is for summer (usually weekend) use. Some cottages are very modest and others (such as the ones on Mackinac Island) are elaborate.
I been to Mackinac Island at the end of June and the lilacs were in full bloom. I feel that’s the best time to visit the island.
I enjoyed the videos you did on the island. That place looks gorgeous and Jack does beautiful work! Just saw a couple of videos on his channel. His grandma’s house and his log house are amazing!!
I’ve been watching your channel for years. Have loved seeing the progress.
I think it would be amazingly fun to have Jack walk around your garden with you!
For your houseplants, try the cork plant coasters that have plastic bottoms to protect your furniture. They’re at Walmart.
Laura YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL WITH OUT MAKEUP!! You once said that you look sick without makeup. I cant agree with you. You are gorgeous.
