Next time or for anyone who’s doing this, unscrew the old lenses and leave them attached. Next, take the new ones out of bag and replace one at a time. Then screw the new lenses down. That way the screen will only be exposed for a second
I ordered my wide field of view lenses for the crystal last July fully paid for because they were promised in September. Pimax is beyond ridiculous and never do anything when they say they’re going to. Now they have come out with three different new headsets, but still no wide field of view lenses for my crystal. So frustrating. 😢
Good decision not to use included mini screwdriver, but better and bigger replacement. The twist of lence is needed just to release magnets while taking off - for inserting new lence no twisting is needed! (that is nice to know before replace).
not a clue it was last week i asked them they said they was shipping them out but there still in test letting some of the testers test the prototypes .they never said when you can buy them they never said when they would be out on the website to buy
you cant get the lens yet they still in develpe ment i asked pimax they are still adjusting them for comsumers they was just sending the prototypes to people who test them
That can't be right, they were saying that exact same thing months ago in November 2023! And they originally said they would be ready September 2023. I wonder what the real reason is, perhaps they can't get them made at a price where they can still make a profit?
Mike, the video's resolution looks good, running at 1080p. Is what I am seeing actually what you are seeing? How does the set compare to UHD monitors? My one and only experience with VR was the Reverb 2, which was a total waste of money. I was accustomed to 4K and worked my eyes constantly to bring distant objects into focus. I could not do it, and I found the loss of fidelity a game-changer. I have hesitated to try VR again without a hands-on test before purchase. The 3D is breathtaking in the cockpit, but for me, the rest of the world is unacceptable compared to 4K monitors.
Thank you for the review, definitely excited about the wider FOV and eventually the 12K. Also, sorry if I missed it, but what airport/location are you flying at? It looks a lot of fun! Thanks!
Yeah, I think you finally got your lenses because you were hounding them. I pre-ordered my headset before it was even released, and prepaid for the lenses at the same time, and have gotten nothing but crickets when I emailed them or messaged them to ask about it
Heard VR flight sim guy had eye strain from these and doesn’t like them much. He's never reported eye strain before, after countless hours in every headset out there, so he's a good benchmark. What's your opinion on that?
France here, I confirm that a French UA-camr that I follow, had problems switching from HP G2 to Quest Pro (headaches, nausea, etc...) even though he has been playing mainly in VR for more than 10 years.... he took a break a few months ago and bought a g9, to continue sim racing. When problems arise they don't call... they fall on you. There are also some videos that talk about it, with several similar cases on the platform.
Lenses still unavailable! Also the adjustable head-strap is still not available (for like a year now)! These guys are not the model of efficient production and marketing, and way over priced. Starting to regret my Crystal purchase last year. Let’s get it together Pimax!!
I have a pimax crystal and I was very interested to try a quest 3... I cant recommend the Crystal anymore, what a waste of money. The Quest 3 is so much better at everything it does. Way more compatible, wireless is flawless, quest 3 has way more of a 3d effect, It made me wonder is the crystal even had 3d... even the controllers make the pimax controllers feel cheap. Only thing pimax has is the clarity but even that is so slight it makes you ask why the price is so much more... Ill take the quest 3 any day, the passthrough feature is amazing.
You are not the first person to set aside the crystal or aero in return for the Quest 3. Once meta ups their resolution in future headsets every competitor is screwd.
They are both amazing headsets. But VR is very subjective, even when being objective. I own and use both the Quest 3 and Pimax Crystal, with each having their own strengths and weaknesses. But the audio on the Crystal, both mic and over ear headphones, are in a whole other league than the Quest 3. Also, being able to use the lighthouse tracking and Valve knuckles is a nice option to have. Being able to switch back to inside out tracking is nice as well. You also can't beat having the local dimming for colors and contrast rations in the Pimax Crystal. The Quest 3 looks washed out and colors are lacking when going from one headset to the other. Not to mention the eye tracking with DFR support for VR games is a huge benefit for performance. As far as comfort goes, I have modified my Crystal and tweaked it to where it's far more comfortable than the Quest 3 and I wear them both for over 4 hours most nights. And now that the Crystal has the wide FOV lenses coming out, we will be able to finally get the large horizontal FOV AND clarity without having to spend $5,000+ on a VR headset. As a variety VR live streamer, who uses both the Quest 3 and Crystal several times each week on my stream, I'm just glad we are at a place in VR where us users have numerous great options for good pricing.

I'm going to pass this on to my rep... I don't agree with things like this. Let me see what I can do if anything.. but I'll definitely make it known
Where is the link to the wide lenses?
They are sold out like always
@@brent4770 They can't be sold out because they've never listed them for sale yet.
@@WilliamDeanPlumbing You're right. I was thinking of the hand tracking add-on.
I can not wait to get them shipped to me, I got them with my initial purchase on launch day. 😎👍👍
Good video! I look forward to the DCS video

I'm waiting for the pimax super. Combining the higher PPD, FOV with the upcoming 5090 will be a winning combination.
where to buy it, please? or when it will be available? thank you

Oh no it's down scaled from just over 4k lol
It really is gorgeous. They've done a great job with it in my opinion

How does it compare with the FOV of the 8k? Enjoy your videos.
8kX is still a bit larger in LARGE mode.. but this is less resource intensive and definitely a good compromise
Consider me subscribed. Super fast response and excellent content. Really enjoy your work!
@@2002drumsonly thank you very much!
I thought you had the lenses in for your eye prescription
I did until that moment lol
wow, even when i put on screen protectors dust always gets in there.. i think this should not be done like this

I had it on for 3 hours today and didn't experience that personally. He did say that was subjective too which was fair

I thought they were not going to support their headsets more than 2 years
I haven't heard that before
@@OverkillSimulations My guess is that he mixed up the ending software support of HP Reverb G2 within less than 2 years from now.
I think you're thinking of the Aero
I know TallyMouse had a few issues the first time he put them on and tried them. Did you experience any of that?
Yeah, I agree but tally mouse has the new review go and watch it. He’s very pleased.
Ooof that frame rate.
Nah that was stupid OBS. I was messing with the settings and made it mad lol

imo one of the jankiest headsets you can buy. If it works great for you congrats
