    There is basic lightening in photography like "butterfly, rembrant and split". Also in my studio i have put some little square piece of tape to place my model and lights, nice idea to made the same for the virtual world.

      @poliigonofficial  6 років тому

      Hmm, I actually don't know if there could be a light setup for interiors, since there's so many objects, it'd get messy fast. These setups really only work because you're lighting one subject.

    there is tons of HDRI studio setups out there, and I think they are useful when you are starting and dont know WTH you are doing, but it will be way more useful to learn how to light instead of using presets, because then it comes the day that none of your presets works or does not give enough quality and then you will be completely screwed.
    learn how to light, is an essential skill for visual art. period

    • @poliigonofficial
      @poliigonofficial  6 років тому +2

      I actually agree with this. And this shouldn't replace learning the fundamentals of lighting for yourself. But even for a pro, it's time-consuming to try out lots of styles just to see what works. So this just allows you to fast-track that experimentation phase.

    • @daviddejuannavarro291
      @daviddejuannavarro291 6 років тому

      yeah, as I mentioned I understand the usefulness of it for certain instances but many times you are just looking for a particular look and position lights is not so much of a hassle TBH, specially when lighting a single character/object.
      You are pretty proficient at lighting, may be a few tutorials on the basics of lighting will help those that are getting started so they don't get too comfy on using presets :P
      keep up the good work.

    So basically, you're recycling the Pro Lighting Studio plugin that you made a few years ago? For those who already own this plugin, is there any interest in getting these new HDRs?

    • @poliigonofficial
      @poliigonofficial  6 років тому +4

      Yes, these are some of the same styles from that plugin, but now available for all 3d software users. The plugin still has a lot more styles though (140 vs these 40).

      Let me put my 2 cents in: when you go down the list of items and after you download one of them at the bottom, the list automatically scrolls up, so you have to scroll down again to get where you were before downloading.

    • @poliigonofficial
      @poliigonofficial  6 років тому +4

      Oh. You're talking about scrolling down any list of textures, clicking one, downloading, then returning to the texture list again, and it takes you to the top? That shouldn't be happening. So I can correctly report it, what's your browser?

    • @CrsGarden
      @CrsGarden 6 років тому +9

      Also it feels strange to me that the categories on the left side aren't on alphabetical order. I just have to look through a list and hope my eye falls on what I'm looking for rather than have some guidance in the order.

  • @VincentG991

    Really think you need to just sell an HDR pack for $29.99 or whatever instead of having to subscribe, have credits and all that crap. lol! Take a page from Andrew Kramer and how he does his products. Also lower the prices, higher the buy in from people. One condensed product download and boom.

    • @poliigonofficial
      @poliigonofficial  6 років тому

      We actually added on-demand credits recently for just this purpose. They never expire and you can pick and choose which assets you "buy" with your credits. Does that work for you, or do you still prefer it as a pack? If so, can I ask why a pack feels better?

    Lightning in 3D is not the same as life. You render your character then render the lighting as 2 separate layers then stack them in Photoshop render it out and Wala done in 1/3 of the time
