I can't speak to the coffee, but you should try Loretta's in the French Market. The beignets are fresh and made with different fillings (praline, chocolate, crab, etc.). Different from Cafe Du Monde, but really fantastic!

I have to agree Cafe Du Monde makes the best beignets and my sister Karen now in Heaven also made some very delicious home made beignets.

Café du Monde beignets are very good. The chicorée coffee not so much. For many of us old folks it reminds us of when coffee was rationed and we used chicorée as an erzatz.

My grandmother, born in 1915, always put a little bit of "Chicorée" in the coffee. Now I do love sweets with that flavour. You shall try crème brûlée with Chicorée!! Delicious. Greetings from North of France
Yes it definitely is. Good competition is needed though because it’s always so crowded. He looks like he’s had some practice eating them because he didn’t get any powdered sugar in his shirt which is very hard to do.

I went for a walk in NOLA before my flight home. I wanted to go to Cafe du Monde. After walking several blocks and stopping periodically in the air conditioned shop, I got about a block and a half away. The last thing I wanted was hot coffee and dough, only to have to walk back. 😅 I turned around and headed back. Didn't know they had frozen drinks or I would've pushed on. Maybe another day.....someday.

You need to try glazed beignets at Antoine's bakery in Gretna Green over the bridge from NOLA. Definitely 10 of the 10. Maybe a Michelin star.

Cafe du Monde. Morning Call is the only other place for beignets in my opinion, based mostly on my 50 year history of living in New Orleans, and a bunch of nostalgia 😄
Café du Monde makes their beignets with old French recipe without yeast and the others places use recipe including yeast. There actually is a huge difference in styles. Of course he would love the old French style.

Edit. Alot of people like it. But for me, my grandmothers hated it and i can see why.
Try it when you can, on its own, and then blended in the famous coffee that started this LOL .
