The Newpaper is photoshopped. The shot of all of them is from Hellys welcome party overlayed on a car. Lumen is playing some kind of game here both on the floor and outside. So Hyped!
it also looks to be titled something like "Kier Chronicles" could be made for lumon severed employees throughout the whole company, maybe some of them are used to these papers?
When Milchik says “now” into the walkie talkie, I think it’s for someone at Lumon headquarters to flip the outies into innies. I’ve long thought that this could be the connection to the mysterious car crashes (Gemma and the woman from the Lexington Letter): you follow the outie while they’re driving, you wait until they’re turning a sharp curve or something else that’s dangerous, and then you flip them to innie mode so that they’ll almost certainly crash. In this scene though, it looks like they could have coerced the outies to look for something in a snowy forest, and then Milchik gives the green light to flip them to innies, so now their innies will be lost and confused out in the wilderness. Could be some form of torture/punishment.
@@chunkymonkey170 I think it could have been intentional to test the effectiveness of the severance procedure - to see if traumatic, recent memories from the outside could leak into the inside. That would explain why Cobel used Gemma’s stolen candle and the tree in the Wellness Sessions with innie Mark, and even why she lives next to Mark.
The water punishment matches the description in the Lexington Letter, in which outie Peggy found her hair wet (and of course Lumon told the outie it was an accident)
Really enjoy your analysis. Here's one tiny thing I really appreciate: the majority of videos I see doing trailer breakdowns never link the actual trailer, and since I'm subscribed to your channel but not necessarily to the studio channels, I don't even know a trailer is out until I see the analysis videos appear in my subscription feed. So thank you for including the link in the description! Saves me 3 seconds of searching, but still, your attention to user-friendliness makes me happy!

My theory is that outtie irving is who petey said his best friend was. When petey said to mark, "im your best friend. Youre my really good friend" i dont think that was a joke. I think irving is his guy working with regabi and thats why he has those severed lists
I think he meant it as unlike Mark, Pete's outie has a social life. Basically, he's pointing out how sad it is that his best friend in life is a guy at work he can't even remember as opposed to a non severed person on the outside. That him becoming severed isn't helping his grief, because even his innie is subconsciously affected.

Her and Lumen can use a clip like that to quell public outrage about the severed, and create a completely false picture about their lives. It would also most likely be the first look onto the floor the public has ever had, so it’s important Lumen makes this look good
Innie Mark called Gemma his outie's wife. He, apparently, has no particular feeling for her. He wants to get her out because it seems the right thing to do. But it's Helly that he has romantic feelings for. This is interesting in light of the discussions I've seen of the extent to which the innies and outies are separate people. Dylan feels a connection to his children that seems deep and profound, as soon as he knows they exist. It's not *for them*, but the idea of them. Mark S doesn't seem to have quite the same sentiment about Gemma/Ms. Casey. It's more a sense that she and his outie have been done wrong by Lumon somehow.
This. I think it's pretty apparent that the newspaper is fake. If you read it all it is a lot of goobely-goob that sounds like how they talk to the innies, and not how they speak in the outie world. The image of them in the car ofc looks totally fake and also the mention of Ricken haven made a book that praised Kier, doesn't sound truthful at all. Also one of the other articles speaks of how Lumon has revolutionized plastic recycling. It all reeks of propaganda...
Yeah, definitely ALL fake! They could easily have a mock newspaper created for the eventuality that the MDR crew returned. The redacted parts make it seem more believable. Even the article that referenced Ricken is part of the ruse. It makes it sound like innie Mark’s hero, Ricken is a Kier fanboy!😂and I could def see how that could hold some sway over Mark’s opinions!
Gonna be wild. Looking forward to it. Thanks for taking the time to go through this in detail. They pack so much visual information into these trailers so it's nice to slow it down and comb through the details.
6:15 I think Mark reintegrated and he's mixing real life (the outie sweater) and old memories (the break room corridor) just like Pete did in the shower scene
That shot of Helly getting dunked made me think of the Lexington Letter, and how Peggy woke up in the elevator with wet hair while her Innie was in the break room with the explanation of a water cooler mishap.
Great video as always Nautilus. Like many others I waited in big anticipation for your analysis of the trailer, as other channels aren't nearly as good as you. My bet is that Helly R. will return as an outie. Taking advantage of the friendships she’s made to persuade innies. Once she smiles realizing the kiss between Mark S. and herself, I believe she will infiltrate and use it to her advantage while faking being her innie.
"These Values Nine: How I Let Keir In" is the title of one of the books credited to Ricken. It sounds SO religious. Letting Keir in like letting god in. The whole article seems a creation of Lumon, designed to convince the innies that their actions have made them heroes on the outside (I would be interested to know how the event really played in the outie world), and their of the works of Ricken Hale is now known by Lumon. The photoshopped picture of them in a parade is quite hilarious. Making the innies think he wrote a book in praise of Keir is propaganda for the innies.
The actor that has the goat head/and seen talking in a booth is Olafur Olafsson most recently on “Somebody Somewhere.” He’s been on some other shows as well. He’s a really big guy.
I'm pretty sure that the world got the message about the inne discontent. That's why it's important that the fake paper is a way of keeping them in line under the innie reform plot. The snow scene looks like a field trip of some kind that again is trying to keep them complacent.
I love that the outie who loves Lumon the most has an innie who hates it (Helly,) and the innie most indoctrinated has an outie who hates the company (Irving.)
I think the quote was "...IN this planet.", which is kinda bazare. Also the newspaper parade photo is totally doctored. Note the old cars. Great work sir!
My thought on Milchik in the wilderness is that maybe the innies have been set up to think they're on a mission or looking for something outside, but it's really a setup and he is controlling the situation.
14:17 In this image of Helly you can see ahead of her what looks like an exit to some kind of backyard out of Lumon, with the snow on the floor and maybe a forest of pines, almost the same kind of landscape we watched earlier on 7:47 with all the MDR gang outside, like in a forest.
I’m fairly sure the scene with two Dylans is Dylan talking to his Outie. The only solution for someone like Dylan who found out he has a son. So somehow they do something to his chip to allow him to see and communicate with his outie.
Look at the newspaper at timestamp 5:06. Published since 1893. Issue number 51,903. Assume the newspaper is daily. 51,903 days is about 142 years. 1893 + 142 = 2035. So the year this is all happening in is 2035...
I believe the person who says the “Important work” line is speaking to Milchick because the sideburns are visible - but also, I believe that guy is the same person in the shot showing Helly through into the boardroom with Cobel. Possibly the Head of Security who has replaced Graner. Also the newspaper includes an article about the Baird Creek Bandit - presumably this is actually Cobel as the articles says they take items from various houses. I Googled the term and apparently this article has appeared in Season 1 because a Wiki dated from 2022 posted it verbatim. So using this article again to show the Innies appears to be a generic propaganda document in which perhaps Cobel being the bandit is an in-joke, either within Lumon or as an Easter Egg for the audience. Lastly, am I the only one slightly terrified that Innie Mark rescues Innie Gemma but she won’t survive the elevator ride because she no longer exists as an Outie and Outie Mark has to go through the loss all over again? 😢
What is up with the Lumon pin with the droplet on it? So far, I've only seen it on Natalie & Miss Casey (Season 1) But now Milchick has one in Season 2 - What does it mean????
why would Milchick risk using the OTC to ask Dylan where he hid the little card he took from O&D? he doesn’t bother to retrieve it until the next day, so, was it really that important to risk Innie Dylan witnessing something on the outside world that he shouldn’t, which he did, leading to the events of the season finale? even if Innie Dylan hadn’t seen his son, waking up on the outside world still would’ve been pretty jarring, no? I suppose he only bothered to retrieve it the next day once he realized it was still on the Severed floor, and he didn’t remove it from the Lumon offices… but wouldn’t the code detectors have caught it if he had tried to take it home with him? also, that Graner’s passkey card thingy isn’t traceable seems like a pretty glaring oversight…
I read sonewhere, someone with the idea that the “Who Is Alive?” Light is a way to bypass the code detection, because Mark is burning the message on his sight temporarily. I think thats it. He is asking inne Mark to confirm who was he saying was alive.
Quick theory… in a previous goat theory video, it was mentioned that the goats were possibly involved in cloning. What if that young new MDR worker is Miss Casey cloned??
Oh noooo... Looked closer at the goat-topper ghoul, and I think it's a sword in his hand (originally thought he was the herder), so he may be the official KidReaper® 😮🐐😢
If you read the redacted newspaper, Ricken has a book about “letting Keir in” which is literally off brand for him! I don’t know the names of his other books but he seems so self absorbed to write anyone else’s “isms skisms” and sell it 😂 he seems more the type to word salad and sell you anything
@ I read a theory that Ricken is severed and is really named Rick N. That’s why everyone calls him Rick and he corrects them because he doesn’t remember so now he’s Ricken… this fits well with the manual books
The picture in the paper is helli first day in MDR. It's a fake propaganda, not even a good one. All the older cars with a cut and paste Pic placed on the top.
9:10 Pretty unlikely the people in the department will have any idea why they’re doing what they do or what it is for. Similar to the 2 departments we’ve met so far. Love the breakdowns and very excited for the S2 drop and coverage!!
It would make sense if Lumen decided to start experimenting with children to do MDR's work. Children are said to be more intuitive than adults and the job relies heavily on emotion and what seems like intuition.
Do you think she is an orphan? I can't imagine a parent doing that to their kid. Well, decent parents. Or could she have grown up through the same technology they used to "awaken" Gemma's body for Ms. Casey? So many thoughts!
@@nancyjonesfrancis I think that she could be an orphan or the parents could have been led to think that she's undergoing treatment of some kind, or the procedure will have some sort of academic advantage. Like all rich kids are doing this to start from a young age to protect them from the stress of academia. Who knows.
@alejandraquintero018 Or could she be Mark & Gemma's child, created of biological material taken from them in the early part of their relationship? There has to be something special about Gemma (if not both of them) for Lumon to want to abduct her/fake her death.
I wonder if he's staring into the light to imprint it into his vision so innie Mark can see it when he closes his eyes 😳

Hey! After season 2 starts, would it be possible to get a "Severance season 1 theories to fall asleep to" compilation video??
I read sonewhere, someone with the idea that the “Who Is Alive?” Light is a way to bypass the code detection, because Mark is burning the message on his sight temporarily. I think thats it. He is asking inne Mark to confirm who was he saying was alive.
Quick theory… in a previous goat theory video, it was mentioned that the goats were possibly involved in cloning. What if that young new MDR worker is Miss Casey cloned??
It seems that Mark is going to be reintegrated hense why he's wearing the sweater in the office.
What if helle wanted to be severed to destroy lumen from the inside
Oh noooo... Looked closer at the goat-topper ghoul, and I think it's a sword in his hand (originally thought he was the herder), so he may be the official KidReaper® 😮🐐😢
Been waiting on this
If you read the redacted newspaper, Ricken has a book about “letting Keir in” which is literally off brand for him! I don’t know the names of his other books but he seems so self absorbed to write anyone else’s “isms skisms” and sell it 😂 he seems more the type to word salad and sell you anything
there was a theory, since in S1 they say he wrote 5 books and there are 4 employee manuals for Lumon (+ the You You Are) makes 5 books
@ I read a theory that Ricken is severed and is really named Rick N. That’s why everyone calls him Rick and he corrects them because he doesn’t remember so now he’s Ricken… this fits well with the manual books
@@rookholgado i heard that one too. He was an interesting character...
I am so freakin exciteeeed
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️so excited
Very interesting to see the book titles from Ricken in the Kier Chronicle.
I can't wait!
Is that light the thing that projects the compunction statement? Can’t read what’s written in it but maybe
The word "it" does not appear in the sentence where you claim the it refers to Severance itself at 1:02
