Hello from the States.Pulled up the Blue Anchor Inn on the laptop to read more about it and its history. It was established just before the Peasant’s Revolt of 1381. Imagine all of the people that came thru its doors over the centuries. Also, looking at the menu, there is no sausage and mash so I guess I would try the Honey & Garlic Glazed Salmon Fillet. Good to see that Sean could join you and Mel for another lunch. Sad that he had to remortgage the house to do so. Anyway, really enjoying these pub lunch videos. Stay safe and be well.
I worked at The Blue Anchor for about 9 months a few years ago. Never had any bad/uncomfortable feelings or vibes when I was in the pub on my own after hours. I did hear the ghostly story that people tended to hear footsteps up the small stairs that lead up from the bar when no one was there, but I never did! Lovely pub, lovely food, lovely family that owns it 👍👍
Hello from New Zealand. When I was a child, I lived in Colwinston & the pub there was called The Sycamore Tree Inn. Perhaps you could go there one day. I just checked the menu, it looks pretty good.😊
I believe I was the waitress that served you during your visit, I'm sure I remember you guys telling me you were going out again 😂 I'm so glad you all enjoyed and I hope to see you again in the future!
In 1975 I met Anna, a beautiful French girl who was in the Blue Anchor with a group of my mates. They knew I spoke French and introduced me to her- I was smitten, but soon after she had an affair with a colleague of mine-Quelle Tristesse!I must go back there one day. Thanks for this wonderful video, I hope you can do one on the Jolly Sailor, and the Pelican , there is so much history attached to all these pubs in the area.
Hello from the States again. I have two suggestions for your next pub venture. The first is The Old House 1147, just south of Maesteg. Don’t know if that is too far for you and Mel. The other is close by, The Jolly Sailor, which is the oldest pub in Porthcawl, at least according to Google. Anyway, just a few suggestions to consider. Stay safe and be well.
1769- January, the French ship “ La Concorde” carrying rum and brandy capsized near Aberthaw, Glamorgan. It is said that before the officials were able to get to her some 2000 people had gathered and were attacking the wreck with hatchets to "save" the cargo. 35 people are said to have died on the beach from excessive drinking and were buried there.
Hi Marcus awesome live video I enjoyed it can't wait to see more soon how are you? I'm doing well. Wales looks so beautiful see you next video the food looks yummy and delicious 😀
How about The Black Rabbit, Laleston ? Had Sunday lunch there recently, and it was lovely. Don't forget The Rose & Crown, Nottage. Fond memories working, drinking, and May Day (Calan Mai).
Chips were add £1.00 extra too so good value and you could have split the chips three ways so just a nibble each and if not eaten only a pound down drain .£53.00 should have been £54.00 lol the chips .good feast .beware marcus and the munchers are in town.

Thanks for the story. I hope the locals are a bit friendlier and I wonder if their drinking habits have improved.
