    At 3:00 , when you were wondering how long the rubber pad would last.
    I've had the pads fail on 2 of my kupo clamps. I re-glued, and they haven't failed again. But anyone looking to buy a few, I'd have a tube of epoxy on standby.

    That's a fantastic review. I made the mistake of getting a cheap "impact" cardellini clamp and the thread is exactly as you said, doesn't spin by itself. That's so annoying I'll probably get a Kupo as a replacement

    The hexagonal stud on that magicarm is great, thats a buy for me. I almost never have Problems with magicarms slipping at the elbow, but slipping at the studs happens all the time.
    Here in Germany we have "tree-tripods", its literally just a steel v Profile with a Juniorreceiver welded on, you can place that anywhere on the tree and ratched it down, can take a 4kw easily

    I have a bunch of Kupo bits, and think their quality is comparable to other brands like Avenger and Matthews. I have their smaller Vise Jaws Clamp, and although it works great, the jaws tend to bind and can be hard to separate. Like, very, very hard to separate. Otherwise, I like all the Kupo hardware I have and will buy more.

    I absolutely love your videos and reviews, pretty unbiased and practically informative. Here are two questions: 1- How much is the approx. load capacity? 2- How is the performance and use compare to its brother Kupo EZ Grip Finger with Baby 5/8" Stud and Receiver (KCP-310)?

    Thank you for the information! Been enjoying your videos so I am your newest subscriber. I have been trying to figure out how to build more reliable sets and to create any light I need, which does not always go super smooth. My team consists of myself and one intern/assistant (sometimes two if I am lucky) so I do not have a lot of space or hands to transport gear. Do you have any storage tips? Even for smaller items like all of the grip accessories - do you just put them all in a pelicase?

    What this label "warning cancer and Reproductive harm" on Kupo gear boxes mean? i got this warning on Super Viser Clamp 601

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  2 роки тому +1

      I've had a few boxes arrive with warnings like this in the past year or so.
      One manufacturer told me it's to do with the box and sometimes the printing on the box. Something in the ink maybe, or the glue used to make the cardboard
      They tend to be very vague warnings.

    Would you trust the baby stud receiver accessory at the end with mounting a heavier duty light like the Nova at an angle? Being able to JR pin mount into a stand is great but i'd be concerned about mounting the actual fixture on a baby pin if i'm putting it at a 45 degree angle.

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  3 роки тому

      I wouldn't use it for a Nova. I would go a 45 degree junior adaptor.

    I really appreciate your channel. Having someone who is in the industry sharing tips, best practices, and reviews is an invaluable resource. I also loved the video you took us on set for the sneaker shoe store commercial. Having you explain what, why, and how you did that shoot was great! It was the next best thing to being your apprentice! I run two unrelated content UA-cam channels (under different credentials), so I know how much work it takes and how ungrateful people can be (especially as you get bigger). So, hang there. Ignore the haters and the know it all’s. And stay consistently, you. Again, thank you.

    My experience with kupo grip gear is less than Ideal. I'm from Canada so my experience with pro grip gear is mostly with Matthews and Manfrotto/Avenger. The first kupo gear I used Is with a set of older kupo c stands. They still got the job done but they where much bulkier than the Avenger stands that I was used to. Ia coulple of years later the local film co-op I worked for was buying new gear and opted to for Kupo since they where 100$ cheaper. When we received them I was happy to find that they were much closer in weight to the Avengers. However that quickly turned sour when I found out that the weight savings was due to a loss of strength. On a shoot I had a 4bank kino boomed out and the Kupo stand was flexing under weight. I swapped it out with an Avenger which stayed as straight as a flagpole. The bigger issue is that the top leg on the Kupo stands is shorter than the other brands and allows the sandbag resting on it to touch the ground.
    Overall I think Kupo is fine if It's all you can afford since they are mostly good enough. But if you can afford it go for one of the higher end brands a you'll be happier in the long run. Everytime I rent gear from the co-op I always ask for the 20 year old Avengers instead of the Kupos.

    • @gorillacowman1
      @gorillacowman1 3 роки тому

      I Just remembered the most infuriating thing about the stands. The knobs on the grip heads are much wider than the grip head so if you drop the arm down all the way you cant lock it off because the knob bumps into the griphead at the end of the arm.

      Or just a Chinese paper lantern
      So what boom to choose
      (Audio boom is up to 1,5 kg mostly)

      @@gaffergear Thank you very much for your reply. Looking forward to watching it. Trying to find an answer about the batteries to use with the 600D I found a video you made a year ago about the risks of 26 Volt batteries when they are accidentally installed on lower volt devices and lights. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! Never heard of this before, and now that you warned us I will be extra careful. I wouldn't be surprised if I had destroyed something by mistake. Not a fan of companies who rip off a patented product, cardellini and matthellini and brand names for the same design constructed differently. The cardellini being made in the US.
