Thanks. I’d love one of those beautiful columns but for now it’s a Monza tilt. All the wires from the switch were hacked off and then re-extended out but in different colors so this was a very informative video! And not wishy washy
ok, im working on my own wiring, its not an Ididit but its a gm style column just as well and so far the wires match . what im trying to find which you dont show either is a backup light switch wire. i would think itd be within the column wires so itd work when you shift into reverse. what am i missing ??

Swapped over to a built carbed 350 and th350 trans. So I have a push button start which was working till recently. I can still crank motor over with button but it won't fire unless keys in start position instead of on position

Okay they don't have anything on a 1986 Thunderbird for rewiring the ignition adapter you know all the wires that go into the little black thing that goes into the ignition switch they're pulled out or burnt out so I don't know which ones go where and so far I can't find out where the hell they go and its pissng me off
If i just wanted to use the turn signals and nothing eles ..... I would use the purple wire to the flasher then out from the flasher to the assy side to my fuse box ?
I have the same issue on my 66 Impala. In this video he mentions that if you feed power to the horn switch your frying the switch. They fixed it somewhat on my Impala. You can turn the steering wheel now without the horn sounding but now when you turn on the right turn signal the horn honks and I smell the smell of burnt wires. My mechanic said the contacts were too close together so that's why the horn was sounding. I'm thinking about just buying a whole new steering column similar to this one and starting from scratch.
88 ford ranger under dash by steering column black wire with green stripe came unpluged cant find where it goes little bigger than others help me please
The column should have come with the mating end to our plug with terminals. You'll need to match the wires by function rather than color as we're going from GM to Ford. Connect the truck wires to the plug in the proper order. Once you've done that you can plug the two together.
Thanks.

Highly recommended extremely knowledgeable probably the best explanation in regards to my situation of needs thank you
I burned the spring up (twice) by feeding power to the black wire and not ground. I used a spring out of an ink pen and kept going. You're welcome...
This is great information, I'm rewiring an old Jeep and this helped immensely, clear and concise, thanks.

Not the acc. side but a switched hot source. In others words...a place on the fuse panel that is only hot when the key is on.
What about the 3” male connector? I have one on my GM column and it won’t fit any of the female connectors that I have.

Hi, When I turn left or right my horn sounds, do you know why this is? The horn works fine as long as I don't turn the steering wheel.
