Best bike in the four cylinder models. Electronics, brakes, engine etc. With age just keep an eye on all the bearings if you thrash it like any big power bike, like the swing arm pivot, steering, wheel bearings. We had great fun and times on one of these. Feels so safe and crisp. Excellence :-)
On the open track-that baby sounds beautiful. I'm very impressed at the assembling of these bikes. I'm so glad BMW takes the extra steps for this thing is really fast out there.

in the final testing, the front wheel of the bike kept lifting off the ground, did the test rider intentionally pop a wheelie or does the bike have terrible aerodynamics making it lift off the ground instead of being pressed to it?
It's too bad they won't get involved with motoGP. With those engineering resources they could crush it. Also interesting to still see a g450x poking out in the back.
haha, that was what surprised me the most. made in windows xp, I wonder how many times did they have to reboot their computers to get THAT job finished. how lame that ms was such a good strategist but such a poor software maker.
@@TechFabLab I use to work at Harman and some test equipment ran Windows XP, was super reliable, of course is not as feature packed as 7 or 10, but for the specific needs that we had was more than enough. Plus this bike was released on 2009, so the development work must have been done in 2006 if not earlier.
@@Alexander5R me too, I've designed products in windows xp, no major problems if you reboot daily. even modern versions seem reliable if you reboot daily, otherwise they begin to fail badly in less than a week. compare that to the 'nixes... they can go solidly for months.
BMW just hasn`t got a reason to build one, 600cc are dying in europe at least because a liter bike isn`t that much more expensive. Also modern liter bikes have an insane amount of electronics which makes them "easy" to drive on normal roads. BMW sadly hasn`t gotten a reason to invest millions in building a bike for a dying market.
To develop and produce an efficient 600cc superbike is a huge cost which does not justify the effort. Take Honda 600CBR as example, Honda stopped producing it exactly for this reason.
@@theMerzavets in my opinion, as i can see from the video, i guess that he is testing a very hard braking on wet terrain so they want to get it at the max limit. If they get over that limit the fall will be very fast and hard so i don't think that legs can do the trick
So what year is this production video of? because it looks older (computers, the headlights and the exhaust) but also there are some new looking parts with the forks in the beginning
Erste serie erkennt man am hässlichen lack "goldgelb" den sie benütz haben wo sie das bike zum erstenmal vorgestellt haben. Die Bmw Motorsport farben waren immer geil an der s1krr
It is fascinating how weird this model looks, having the signs of two same front lights but I personally adore this design with the asymmetry... It is a shame they threw it with the new models. I think they now still do look "nice" but it could also be a Japanese bike. Before, being miles away and only seeing these shapes of these lights you instantly KNEW "oh ... there is an RR coming"... Having these in your back mirror you knew "okay there is trouble coming..." haha What I also do not understand is ehm... This small thinghi in front of this guys chest is as strong as 200 Horses... This is SO "small" but so powerful...
it would be so funny that when after the robot welds the frame another arm came up with a cigarette and it lit then smoked it down. That's how the robots in the 50's built bikes !!
Lol I can imagine they're legit faking the seriousness and intense focus for the camera. But every other day is just another day at work with smiles and jokes about the parts and how the bike looks. You know... Normal human stuff

fantastic BMW work, I liked it, maybe I will buy one of these for me, after all the work to the detail I saw, maybe buy one :)))
Those test drivers are very good...
Great video
Sad that BMW doesn't make a 600cc sportbikes
You can always get a 1000cc bmw with a limiter on it. It will have less power and it can be mechanically removed to give you again the full power.
BMW just hasn`t got a reason to build one, 600cc are dying in europe at least because a liter bike isn`t that much more expensive. Also modern liter bikes have an insane amount of electronics which makes them "easy" to drive on normal roads. Problem is, they cost as much to develop and build as a literbike, but sell for way less. It's just not cost effective.
