I have pretty much the same machine, EFI version a few years newer. I use it around my small farm. Perfect machine for that, I use it even more than the tractor. Put a 2" ball into that receiver and you will find that you can just back it off the trailer and then move that 6x12 trailer to the back of the Teryx. It will tow that trailer like a dream, especially in low gear. Mine will pull the trailer with two 5foot round hay bales on it. Perfect setup, pull the Teryx to a work site on the trailer and then unload the trailer and tow the trailer with the Teryx. I usually have the chainsaw and gas in the dump bed and then fill the trailer with wood. Tailgate is also perfect height for working on the saw when you refill the fuel and sharpen the chain. Fill the dump bed with shovels, saws and drills, and then the trailer with fenceposts, and you have the perfect setup for fencing. It really is a great machine. Way more versatile than a regular 4-wheeler.

It's surprising it had anything more than carb issues, these are typically pretty reliable, shame on the dealership I'm thinking they just wanted to sell a new one
In case you didn't know but the compression tester will hold the built-up psi unless you have taken the Schrader valve out. Just notice that you said that means no bent valve. Great videos
Glad it's running, sounds good, but, I would recommend running some Chemtool or Seafoam through the top end down the carb throats, no joking it will run way smoother and have increased power. Usually do it on everything we fix her 4 stroke, it's really amazing the difference it makes. At MMI we would spray a fine mist of water through and clear carbon out, this is way healthier and better. Give er a shot... great Job.

I loved the whole video and especially what you say at the end...you have to get into the topic and see what happens...accept challenges and above all say I can get through it even when you no longer have the strength left...believe me...the result will surprise you. full of so much pride that, as in my case, being a Garmin Deck technician, sometimes it is difficult for me to return it to the client lol haha. And I thought I was making sacrifices in my workshop but buddy, the amount of iron and dirt you have there is infernal haha, best regards! Ferni Deck from the shores of Mar del Plata in the Argentina
Well known way to set the valves is to remove spark plug, insert a zip tie in hole and rotate engine until at top dead center after removing valve adjuster caps and look for cam lobes to be facing down away from rocker arms... adjust away, set valves to factory specs even with aftermarket cams unless you've swapped out to hardened aftermarket rockers and then adjust them to the cams and rockers specs and not the oem manufacturers specs...
LOVE IT! Great catch. 29:37 "we'll put it back together so we don't lose or mix up parts." 🙋♂Been there, done that, "Oh look I put it back together and have these extra parts!" What happened to wing nuts (old air filters) for easy access points? Why are these not fuel injected, and what about manual transmissions?
You dont have to put the engine at tdc to check valves. Just spin the engine till intake and exhaust valves are closed and the engine is in its compression stroke.
You are so right. I adjusted the valves on a Cat 3412 with a remote starter button. I did it all the time with 3116, 3208, 3406, 3306, Polaris quads, virtually all engines. Never had an issue, and a lot faster than using a dial indicator or trying to find marks.
@@Rat-Builder yep, you can watch the camshaft spin by hand and see that 70% of it is a circle and the valve does not move at all. Not many people realize this haha
@@Datsun280zeeee Yea, on the Cat engines there is a hole in the bell housing to insert a timing bolt, and then you have to manually turn the engine over slowly until the pin lines up with the corresponding hole in the flywheel. Sometimes these holes are almost impossible to get at, and then there is the turning the engine over by hand. To heck with that! My way is so much easier, not to mention faster. I wonder how many "mechanics" know the 4 strokes IN ORDER of an internal combustion 4 cycle engine?
Any one that off roads always carry a can of tire seal n a little 12v compressor at least the smart people do the winch control probably plugs into the winch my guess would be if there is no outlet in cab

Dealer: It's not worth fixing. Also dealer: No worries! We have a lot full of new Kawasakis to sell you right here. No way that kind of thing ever happens though.
When working on lawn mowers and someone brings in a mower with the issue beige it won’t start or they think it bent a lifter rod it seems that every time that it happens the oil is blacker then coal is and a lifter has stuck!!! I’ve ran across this issue probably a dozen different times and I’d say most or at least 9 to 10 are from the Kawasaki engines that most businesses like to run!!! But as long as the oil is changed in the correct hours of run time and a good oil ram each time I’ve never seen this issue!!! Also some come in with a new mower that they baught the year before and say it won’t start?? The first thing I ask is have you ever taken it back in after buying it to have the valves reset after running the mower for 8 to 10 hours?? Every time the answer is no they never said anything about having them checked!!! I’d go in reset the valves and it would start!!! I bet at least 99 out of a hundred people never have there valves reset after buying a new mower and end up with a no start or the mower having a hard to start issue!!!!
It’s another learning lesson but I’m sure you guys will have not having any trouble selling the car. Just ponder the education you have received in the last year plus having fun while doing it.
The winch controller wiring should hook to the winch somewhere on it itself!!! That is where every winch I have used that had a hand held unit that is a wired unit!!! Hopefully that helps you out in finding where to plug the controller up to???
Lines from the air box coming from the crank case pull vacuum that pull your diaphragm slides up. Reason the air box has to be attached to these engines to really diagnose them. Far as carb issues go. Good channel.
When i worked in a lawn mower shop, technicians became complacent and if the job was too hard they would make up crap to get the person to buy a newer unit. The shop would then buy the units "For Parts" at a very low price fix them and then sell them on marketplace under a fictitious name.
Nice video. I bought the same machine today and only paid $500. It would start and idle but not take gas . I already had carbs removed when I found this video. Hopefully, I'll be riding around tomorrow.
When you mentioned dirt being sucked into the carb, I kind of thought it might need a good carb cleaning. Good buy ! Should be an easy flip if you choose to do so.
Your compression gauge hold’s compression within itself to hold the reading, it has nothing to do with “valves holding”. Just FYI. Also, if you put some motor oil down the spark plug hole and do another compression test and the compression goes up, that tells you it’s rings/cylinder blow-by causing your low compression.
"It's holding" is not the engine valve, it's the Schrader valve in the compression tester hose. Also, be careful with just letting plug wire dangle while doing a compression test. If the secondary ignition finds a different path to ground, it can actually cause something called carbon tracking allowing the spark to follow the track rather than through the spark plug.
I would start woth clearances. Doubt rings are gone, Eben if it's low compression. Nice rig, I've done a few of em here, good machine, it's a Hoss for sure. Enjoy.
I think your the first person to get a deal at the dealership, nice work and nice machine. Have the same motor in my brute force. Have the same winch set up and it's on the side next to the ignition. Mine is an efi and the sending unit has a "filter screen" on the middle of the unit that cloggs and is an issue on the efi terix too.
One thing about these Kawasaki’s like the Teryx is they have an internal wet disc clutch. It is centrifugal, and it makes the start and stop smooth just like It had a torque converter. I sure like my 2014 Teryx.
you should buy carb dip and disassemble completely dip overnight spray out with chem tool and blow out with compressed air reassemble you should be good to go carb dip works the best never fails.
Awesome buy joe runs great defo a cool machine and very handy to have I would think about keeping this one take care mate and all the best to you and the wife and your family 👍🔧🔧🔧👌❤️
Thanks, you really took an educated deep look at the machine as a whole. I'm looking at an 08 today that I'll probably buy in excellent condition. Appreciate this video a lot!
Get a hole saw and make a hole in the plastic above the radiator cap, works great for piece of mind. They handle larger tyres, suspension is built like a small car. Heavy duty plus. Tow hitch will haul the Polaris and others around the trails all day. They might not be fast but they are tough.
T-Rex! Buddy had a 2010. That thing was mechanically LOUD to operate. Aggravating as hell, you had to shout to each other while riding in it. He added EPS to it about 4 yrs ago and that was a game-changer. He sold it about 1 year ago for $6K, always maintained his stuff well.
This has become hands-down the best hands-on channel for anyone to learn how to work on their equipment congratulations God bless
Agreed, the detail thought, not focused on him
I would only add that a clean working environment is very important, BEFORE opening any engine. Taking a few minutes to pressure wash and blow dry the engine bay so you are not introducing dirt into the engine, not only makes for a nice clean area to work on, it saves tool and garage cleanup later and allows you to see cracks and damage that can be hidden by grime.

Bought one a couple months ago for 1500 with rod knock. Did a full top and bottom end rebuild for 1k and a couple odds and ins and I’m all in for 2800 for a fuel injected teryx, amazing
You’re channels the best! Thank you so much for your humble excellence!
Nice Joe definitely done well on this one runs like a dream now & never took that much to get it going good definitely worth taking a risk from time to time especially when you have the knowledge to fix it & even if you don't you can learn along way have a marvellous weekend mate take care bro 👊 💨
Ferni Deck

Intake and exhaust valves do not close together at same time.
yes they do. Its called the compression stroke. Dont spread false information on the internet.@@waynewells359
I still bet it will run even better if you change the fuel filter. And keep it from running lean qnd burning up.
Congratulations on 300,000 subscribers!🎉🎉🎉
Nothing wrong with that engine! Great job getting it to run, Joe! Smoking good deal, you should be able to make some $$$ if you flip this.
Thanks man!
Any one that off roads always carry a can of tire seal n a little 12v compressor at least the smart people do the winch control probably plugs into the winch my guess would be if there is no outlet in cab
Keep ‘em coming! Love the content
Off the trailer and 34 minutes later, it’s running good. I don’t know why Ytube hasn’t sent me a video of yours to watch until now. Been watching ytube for 8-10 years and never seen your channel. Enjoyed and subscribed
Dealer: It's not worth fixing.
Also dealer: No worries! We have a lot full of new Kawasakis to sell you right here.
No way that kind of thing ever happens though.
sadly enough it goes a lot like that.. if they don't want to bother, they tell it can't be fixed. real mechanics are hard to find lately
Great job bringing her back to life love you videos
Lines from the air box coming from the crank case pull vacuum that pull your diaphragm slides up. Reason the air box has to be attached to these engines to really diagnose them. Far as carb issues go. Good channel.
When i worked in a lawn mower shop, technicians became complacent and if the job was too hard they would make up crap to get the person to buy a newer unit. The shop would then buy the units "For Parts" at a very low price fix them and then sell them on marketplace under a fictitious name.
Wow that's horrible!
Wink wink 🤫
Nice video. I bought the same machine today and only paid $500. It would start and idle but not take gas . I already had carbs removed when I found this video. Hopefully, I'll be riding around tomorrow.
Nice well done sir, enjoy it I have a gator and love it, love the videos keep up the great work.
The Schrader valve holds the psi on the gauge. Unless you have a leak down compression tester. Which I've never seen.
These dealerships are a joke. Not worth fixing they say! 😂 I’m sure they just hire anyone with no experience.
It's all about paying out the least wages out there un the world
Man, check your timing ¡
that my friend is a hell of a find for that price be real good for lawn work and some trails its not a power house like a can-am but still fun
When you mentioned dirt being sucked into the carb, I kind of thought it might need a good carb cleaning.
Good buy ! Should be an easy flip if you choose to do so.
But what about the loss of compression
Didn’t watch the whole vid sorry
@James Giresi after he put oil in and re checked both cylenders were back up to 50 so it's good as factory calls for 60
IMHO - I sensed rings, needing engine out rebuild,
I'm happy with my 2021 Honda 350 4 wheeler.
Perfect for rural area work on the farm. Don't need passengers with me nor a bus of passengers.
If the last owner is watching, he must be pretty happy with how things worked out.
I would start woth clearances. Doubt rings are gone, Eben if it's low compression. Nice rig, I've done a few of em here, good machine, it's a Hoss for sure. Enjoy.
Do you list the projects that your done with for sale on marketplace?
Great question. I could use one or two of their machines.
Good job nice fix again
One thing about these Kawasaki’s like the Teryx is they have an internal wet disc clutch. It is centrifugal, and it makes the start and stop smooth just like It had a torque converter. I sure like my 2014 Teryx.
I feel bad for whoever owned this
you should buy carb dip and disassemble completely dip overnight spray out with chem tool and blow out with compressed air reassemble you should be good to go carb dip works the best never fails.
"FEELS GOOD"...isn't proper valve clearance! ...thats why they make feeler guages!
I do not think i would rely on that dealership. Great for You. They do run nice and smooth. Great Video
Congrats on 300k Subs
Thank you!
The first cylinder you did the boot was sparkling on the top of it to that rod..
Hopefully Vinny will approve
Vinny says 🐕 that looks rough 😂
Vin is an ugly dog. He should not be picky.
That guy just punched himself in the nuts lol 😆 😂
I worked on a 400 Kawasaki twin with vacuum slide carbs and that also would not idle without the air box hooked up.
You need to make this machine into a snow plow and push that Polaris off a cliff :)
fill the fuel bowl thru the vent tube on the top of carb if thats your problem it will run for a few min it looks like its cut on an angle
