He was never that good. Pretty unathletic even for average QB standards. Feet pretty slow. Rarely does a ball come of his hands that has high spin rate indicating poor shoulder mobility, poor hand and wrist strength, and poor thoracic/arm isolation. He has poor shoulder/hip dissociation. He has poor velocity and accuracy throwing on the run. He’s not very fast in a straight line nor quick with short movements. Mac’s accuracy, like real accuracy, is pretty overrated. If you looked at Mac he has a body more likened to a 40 yo dad than a pro athlete: spindly and skinny arms and legs, thick waist, big gut despite not being overweight, slumped shoulders, bad posture. Of course all these critiques of his game and physiology are in the context of him being a number 15 pick. Mac should have been 4th round guy. People were rightfully concerned considering the Patriots don’t develop skill positions well and they have an increasingly stubborn coach (Belichick) who is very prickly about young players. Max needed to sit for 2 or 3 seasons. He was never a day one franchise guy. His first season was a fluke and honestly the glaring flaws in his game were already showing in 2021
@@roderickclerk5904meh Marino and Montana didn't have great athleticism either. Peyton Manning was an athletic disaster in his elder years. The problem was the coaching more than anything.
Can't disagree. Mac has totally lost confidence in himself because he wasn't given competent OC until 2022. However, the Pats don't have Drake Maye if Mac doesn't "fail". So...worked out eventually.
As a pats fan I truly believe that if he had gotten drafted 3rd overall to the 49ers he would've been a top ten QB and won a super bowl already. it's just unfortunate that his career was wasted in New England and I hope he pulls a Geno and starts again in the future and not cause the starter is hurt.
I think the NFL exposed him for being very limited at his position. It was easy playing for the goat of college coaches and some of the best talent around. We all know people in positions at jobs they either didn’t earn or wasn’t qualified for. Mac isn’t qualified to be a starting NFL QB
He made some really great throws against the titans last week, played a clean game, stared down a free blitzer and delivered a perfect ball to btj in the back of the endzone. That long bucket throw to btj down the sidelines not many people can make with this much touch. The pats never had receivers who had any kind of hands other than Meyers, juju and Parker were dropping those routinely or turning them into picks.
The Jags will win more games with Mac in 1/3 of a season than Trevor in 2/3rds… they should have beaten the Texans when Mac only played the second half if the receiver didn’t try to one hand catch a touchdown…
This felt like a rushed, surface level review that you barely tried to make. If you wanted to be accurate, you would have mentioned how horribly managed the teams he played for are (both teams had terrible offensive lines, bad receivers, or defenses that couldn't get a stop at the end of a game). You could have mentioned how he had only 1 top 50 receiver in 3 years, and they let him go because they didn't want to pay him. You could have mentioned how his teammates have cost the team more wins than he did (his receivers, running backs, and offensive line have each cost the team more wins in the last 2 minutes than Mac 5 to 1). You could have mentioned that his last 2 seasons in New England, he had the shortest time in the pocket before the rush (there was literally a play with 3 defenders rushing, and all 3 got to him in less than 5 seconds). You could have mentioned that his receivers had the lowest separation and were one of the worst in terms of drops. You said that he had some horrible games when, in fact, he played really well, but his defense and special teams failed him yet again. You talked about that lone playoff game and said he threw horrible picks when 1 was off his TE's hands, and the other was a perfect pass that was snagged away with a great play by the defender. Or you could have mentioned that for 2 straight games against Buffalo, the defense didn't force a punt. This video felt like a cheap way to get clicks and views by blaming 1 guy for sh!tty teams
Pats ruined him

That’s a rediculous take on Mac Jones… You must have a hard time explaining Brady’s success…

If Goof, Darnold, Geno can turn their careers around, so will Mac 1 day

Mac Jones did not go to the playoffs the same year the Bucs won the Super Bowl. He wasn’t even in the league yet.
