    Can you review dakine split adventure 38L backpack. I've had my eyes on it for a while and heard good reviews but it is not popular compared to other brands. It's weird they have different materials used under the same name on different colors, black 420d nylon, caramel 1200d cordura polyester, other colors 300d polyester. The downside I've read is it does not fit with large packing cubes because it split it's compartment like a luggage. Would be glad to hear your thoughts about it.

    good video. by the way, the ID slot is a luggage ID (like a built-in luggage tag), not for storing your driver's license, etc. also, the internal lash points are for the camera cubes (when the pack is expanded) but the PD packing cube (which are amazing) do not have lash points on them for use in the packs .. they just kind of fit in. keep up the great work and good luck on your custom bag!

    Dude, nice review of this pack. PD is sending me a Black TBP 30L to review. I feel you on the excess nylon when cinching bags up. I use Tom Bihn Strap Keepers for that. Not perfect but gets the job done.

    If you're making your own backpack for one bag travel...can one of your products take it's cue from the ultralight backpacking/hiking style and make something extremely stripped down and minimalist that weighs less than 1kg and made out of ultra? All the bags generally marketed for one bag travel are over featured for my preference (all I need is one main compartment, two side pockets for water bottles and maybe a mesh front pocket to quickly stash stuff and a lockable main zip) Most of my travel involves a 7kg weight limit for cabin luggage and these packs are way too heavy on their own already, limiting what I can carry. Z Packs Air Zip Ultra Backpack comes close to what ideally I'd like in a travel pack, being front loading and only weighs a tiny 681gm, made with a water resistant fabric, large water bottle pockets, sternum straps and hipbelts which, including the frame makes very comfortable carry. The only problem is its too large, being 62 litre and way too expensive at $450. It can compress smaller but I find the larger the pack the more you pack, which kind of defeats the purpose.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  2 роки тому +1

      Great suggestions! My first bag will be an EDC but I completely agree with your point that there’s no real amazing ultra light one bag travel pack. In fact, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while, so hopefully if the EDC is a success we can develop one later down the line 💪🏾

      @@Nomads.Nation Piggy backing on the water bottle... I feel like you may already be far along on process, but in the off chance that you're still accepting suggestions: Can one of your packs have the ability to carry a 40 oz Hydro flask? The diameter is 3.58". I'm a fairly small framed human but I drink water allll the time, so if there's any chance that a 30L bag can comfortably carry a 40 oz bottle I would be in the top 100 of your first buyers.

    Can confirm, Sage is the best PD color.
    Also I don't know if this holds true, but I saw on Reddit that PD's designers said that they lean towards the hard stiff straps over soft ones because over time the hard ones get softer while the soft ones lose support. Only time will tell though.

    I picked this bag up today. Thought it would be a good alternative to the Shimoda or similar camera oriented backpacks for city travel. It was not. In fact I would say it’s caused me no end of problems for packing and convenience. It’s incredibly pretty, sure, but my 28 liter Osprey packs more and with more compartments and less fuss getting into them. I use a Sony A7 type camera with an L plate. I’ve had zero problems packing that in an osprey or any other typical packs. Even less of a problem with regular camera backpacks.
    I would even go so far as to say that this is the worst designed backpack I’ve ever encountered. It looks incredibly pretty But the lack of an extra section for a jacket and camera cubes that, while padded, just do not accommodate even the slightest variations on size. And the sling is even worse. I bought the 6l sling to go with it and what a waste of time that was. Even without the l plate, the included straps in their pocket make it absurdly awkward to zip up. I’m not even sure an SD card wouldn’t get in the way. There’s zero flex and your camera is catching the zips every time you take it out or replace it.
    And you can forget an extra lens. Practically every other camera oriented bag manufacturer does a better job. And there’s a reason why they all include cinch straps everywhere, like on outer flask pockets. Because they know that those pockets will fail in time. And then there’s the shoulder straps. The ends just flip around everywhere, making the incredibly tidy looking bag look amateurish. It may be the prettiest backpack ever, but it’s worth repeating that it’s also the worst. I’ll be sending mine back. Or giving it to someone I really hate. Even the old fashioned Fjallraven Greenland shoulder bags are more useful! (Actually, the one I bought at the same time has impressed me. It may be floppy and basic with holes anyone can reach into from the next cafe table in Paris, but it’s far more spacious and useful).

    Since I already have the Nomatic nav, Nomatic travel pack (my daily driver and for overnights, usually used in 20L mode) , and Aer Travel pack 2, Aer Travel pack 3 small (my main travel bag to avoid fees in and out of the US) is there any benefit to this bag?
    I personally really like the 30L one bag travel size (I have done 1-4 month trips in Latin America in my Aer bags). Would that ability to go smaller for day trips to (27) or a tiny bit of extra space If I buy things for family on my way home (the 33) really be an advantage over the Aer travel pack small 3 (seems like it can be pushed beyond 30 in a pinch based on the way its designed and zips up?

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  6 місяців тому +1

      I don't really think so, no. By all means, drop the money if you want! But I think with your lineup you are probably getting the best of all worlds. All I would recommend if you have the 'new bag itch' is to go smaller. I' traveled for one month with a 22L bag + 3L sling recently and it was so freeing.

    Thanks for the great review. Just when I started to think this is a great backpack.. the laptop stash in feature made it a no-go for me. Imagine standing at the TSA check at airport and opening the whole thing and exposing your stuff inside just to take out the laptop!! Why didnt they build a separate laptop sleeve?? :(

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  3 місяці тому +1

      I agree that I prefer my laptops to be in their own dedicated compartment, but doing so has its cons as well. Mainly it requires a completely separate area in the bag which adds weight and takes away packing space from the main compartment.

  • @cliffordnelson8454
    @cliffordnelson8454 6 місяців тому

    You missed a big con for this design--no direct access to the laptop. A more minor is I would prefer front access to the main compartment. Number three, as a carry-on want some external access for various things you need during a trip. To me they screwed up badly on this design. the 45l is too big. 22" tall is big. May have issues with some airlines.

    Also, I think a better bag that has expansion capabilities at a similar size would be the Knack Series 2 Medium over the Nomatic Travel Pack. It’s lighter in weight, better external access and works better overall as a travel bag in my opinion with the expansion. Plus, it’s a similar price point to the Peak Design. Love Nomatic, just not as much of a fan of their travel pack as a functional travel bag

      I freaking love the Knack Pack - such an underrated bag. Completely agree with your points about it

      The warranty support put me off the knack. Also they use PU rainproofing and it gets really sticky after a few years. Nice bag but not a forever bag.

    Best review I've seen so far. I've been researching this backpack because of the collab with Huckberry so, I've seen several videos.

    Hi AR & Team. Great review mate. All PD packs are very well thought of & each has its functionality & usage. It's rather high end but it's worthed nevertheless. Also think you're missing the dangler stopper on both straps. Maybe you got ripped off.! No big loss, they invented elastic band. As always good luck on your project, can't wait to see the AR Backpack. Cowabunga.!

      Thanks for the love! And what the heck, did I get jipped on the dangle stoppers 🤔

    Pretty close to clicking on the checkout button for this bag! It have everything I wanted in a bag but just a question on the comfort pov.
    Is there an alternative with just as much functionality as this bag but with better comfortability?

      That’s a tough one… maybe the new Alpaka Elements Travel Pack, but I’m the Kickstarter just finished and won’t be available for months. The comfort of this pack is good tho, I wouldn’t let it deter you if you love it. Always appreciate if you use our links - cheers!

    Hi Aaron, which version do you prefer 45 l or 30l?

      Hi! Honestly they are pretty similar, just the size difference. So just depends on how much stuff you need to pack

    Great review as always Aaron! I previously had the 45 Liter and loved it except for the straps were too thin for when under load. Any idea if they improved upon them in the latest version? Hope you are well man!

      Thanks Brandon and great to hear from you! I think the straps might have sligghhhtly more padding but I am not 100% sure. I will say though the size/padding of the straps makes more sense on a 30L over a 45L
