Love the efficient and elegant way your thoughtful design addresses the challenges of van life in such a small space. Build quality and craftsmanship also appears to be top notch. I would love to see additional videos on your "build" with details on your hardware choices like the drawer glides and and swivel. Thx and keep up the great work. Btw your presentation is very clear and concise and your video production quality is excellent!
Great work, nice to see a video actually using the kitchen instead of just showing it. Seeing how you actually work makes me wonder how those without any bench space do anything
Thanks so much for this. It makes more sense to me to have the kitchen stuff near the slider, as well as on the opposite side of the van from the driver for a slightly better weight distribution too. I am glad to see this, since I have a gutted interior so have opportunity to try this.
Noticed you prefer being standing outside, you also mention that the last place you want to be is inside cooking. Nice set up. I made one that stands outside on a sliding rail. More work, a tent roof it its raining BUT, no smells in the van. Maybe next time. And of course if its really too windy and wet outside you can also cook inside if you realy want to. Great vans.
AWESOME, i would put some type of fold down telescopic legs on the 2 ends of that cutting board, i can see with lots of use it will weaken some due to force down cutting, just an idea. But i LOVE it, especially the wash hose.....AWESOME.
Only issue I see is the cooktop is still inside the van, and the cooking odors may stay around. One could put some kind of vent hood I suppose. I have a portable cooktop I use outside. The cabinets are quite nice!
Can you do a short video of the sleeping arrangements on the VW? Thank you. The only mod that would do on it will be the option of be able to fill the water tank with a jerry can.
Hi Kirk. Thats a great set up. Ingenious, I am about to start a T3 renovation in a tintop window syncro van and have been considering getting a second hand westy multivan interior, but I think your solution beats that for me. Any chance on some extra info on all the black surface mounted bits above the draws on the sink/fridge side please. Cheers Rich
The stuff above the drawers is all the electrical and some plumbing. I call that the utility cabinet. In there is: solar charge controller, fuse box, fridge compressor, sink, some plumbing, and wires wires wires. On the door are switches (lights, fridge, water pump, accessories, and some spare switches), remote panel for the inverter, remote panel for the charge controller, fan to cool the refrigerator compressor. and on the side is the water tank fill port. If I were to do it over again, I would not have the fridge compressor in that cabinet. That's a pretty big item. Without it in that spot I could drop the sink about 7 or so inches, give it a back splash and the sink and the refrigerator would be much more accessible and would really open up the space. It could also be made the height of the cutting board which would look slick. If I could find a single burner propane stove I'd use that too which would allow me to make the bed wider. Turning the stove 90 degrees is also an option but I'd rather have the wider entryway. Check out my instagram account for lots more detailed pics.
Hmm... I have a few close ups on my instagram page. What I did is I purchased a rear table arm from gowesty and then brought that to my metal worker friend. First attempt was a fail, tolerances were too tight and metal on metal. Even spray painting the arm made it completely unusable. He was able to cut the mounts and modify them with a much larger ring diameter, then sent both the mounts and the table arm to powder coat, then with both back in his hands, he made black delrin bushings to the exact dimensions. Works flawlessly now, far better than I ever envisioned. I imagine that you could make mounts out of wood but haven't thought it through.
So, with all the washing outside your door, and spraying around as well, how do you manage the mud you've just created? I imagine the forest litter being tracked into your van. Otherwise, I think that looks awesome. I like the bench seat behind the driver's seat.
Usually the spray goes to one side of the sliding door or the other. I try to use the sprayer as sparingly as I can to conserve water. Misting. Doing it that way has the added benefit of not getting the ground very wet. In practice I haven't noticed tracking self-made mud into the van to be a problem. I used water liberally in this video because I was close to home and water conservation wasn't a priority. I recently did buy a plastic welcome mat for various purposes, one of which is to mitigate dirt being tracked into the van. All types of dirt get tracked into the van regardless of whether I used the sprayer.
H iIand thanks for a great video! I love the set up for that cutting board. I have a hard time hearing where you got it from. Could you please tell me where I might find it?
Hej! Nice setup and we are inspired of your box in the door withe the kitchen and table. Have you a sketch of this for us? Kind regards from Sweden Andre
Have you considered making your kitchen plans available? I've got a Weekender that I've been looking to put a similar kitchen into but have never seen anything quite as nice as your setup!
I made the sink lower and replaced the fridge with a Dometic CFF 45. Switched the hose back to the blue self coiling variety like my original red kitchen. You can find a video of that old kitchen further back in my channel. I also added a ceiling fan and some other bits and bobs. Look on my instagram. @tintopcamper
I love it too! They aren't made anymore. I bought all I could find and a bunch of spare lids after they stopped making them from whatever random place I could find that still had them on the internet. It's probably eight years ago that they last made them. Contigo Desk Mug I think it's called.
Wow! You did it by yourself? I need something like that in my VW T4 Van. Well done, man! Please show us where and how do you sleep in the Van. The distribution looks different to the Westfalia Standard. How big is your sleeping place (length and width). Thank you and greetings from Germany
Hi Kirt. I love your doorway v.2 kitchen set-up. I'm in process of designing one for my 1990 base model tin-top. I was curious where you externally vented the the hw heater?
Philip Emanuele it's a propane tankless. The brand is Marey. But the same unit is branded by different companies. Might have bought it at Home Depot. I just have a simple T hose connection splitting the water between the sink and the heater/sprayer. Heater turns on automatically when I open the sprayer and water moves through the heater. Works pretty well. Only downside is if you shower and turn the water on and off a lot you'll get varying degrees of hot and cold. If it's on in a steady stream the temp stays very consistent.
Awesome this is what I want to do, very nicely edited video. Do you think it'd be feasible to mount the stove on a swinging table like that? Don't know if it would be too heavy!
hello and thanks for the share actually I was thinking to put a westfalia interior in my caravalle t3 van tintop after I complete the paint job but I have to think a lot about how heavy is and how much space take and specially the garderobe on the left side will close the window but after watching ur videos I like to made somthing semilair to my van so I wonder about the electricity to run ur water pomp and water heater while the engine is off are u using the car battery or u have solar panel batteries?? and what kind of water heaters u used I like to put one to shower and what kind of water pomp is?? and is the referegerator always on even when u park for hours or off I mean how it work any way sorry for the questions cus I dont know much about electricity and electronics so be my guide best regrades from a climber and camper from algeria
The fridge has an on/off switch so it's only on when I want it on. It draws power form a 176 Ah 'house' battery that is powered by both the alternator and 240 Watts of solar panels. Same for water pump, lights, inverter and accessory charging ports. The hot water heater is propane and tankless. It only uses propane when the water runs through it. It has no on/off switch as it doesn't need one. Same for the hot air heater and the propane stove. There is a 3.3 Gal propane tank mounted under the van like a westy would have. Hope that helps.
Hello, How do you get water pressure for the instant hot water heater? Did you put a longer hose on your unit. I was considering install of Excel Instant Water Heater in the back for use in the galley and as outdoor shower. you've got a creative design going on!
I use the same water pump for the hot water heater as the rest of the system. It's a 3gpm 50psi flojet water pump. Much more powerful than the submersible pump in a Westy if that's what you're asking about.
I have a Flojet water pump. ~ 3gpm and 50psi pressure switch. Line splits between the faucet and the water heater. Shower is only thing connected to the heater.
Ha Ha Ha man you are cool and you can cook too ! Do you have an Italian grandmother ? Btw do you produce and sell that little kitchen or your just made it for personal use
Love your van. I have two here in Maui. My question is did or does your van have the long piece on the ceiling that runs the length of the van? Since, to my knowledge, we can no longer buy the AC coolant, do we need that long tube thingy? I would really like to rip them out, rip the entire ceiling out and do something cool with it. Any thoughts? Also, why did you opt for the non pop top version? I didn't want the pop top because everything gets destroyed by mold and mildew here and I rent these out and feel like shit would get trashed. I love your van, keep the videos coming.
I have never understood an outdoor kitchen, I understand the option for when the weather is good, but....when it is cold, or rains, or snows, what then and it is far from stealth. You don't really need a camper a tent will do.
Hahah goddamn, these comments are ridiculous. just watch his video and how he does shit and move on. I'm sure he doesn't care if you think he's doing stuff wrong. it's obviously working for him so let it be.
Love the efficient and elegant way your thoughtful design addresses the challenges of van life in such a small space. Build quality and craftsmanship also appears to be top notch. sitting in the door way is so comfy just fits
Thats a sweet setup you have my friend! Top notch cabinetry, skilled cooking, and gotta love that hose sprayer for cleanup!
Compliments on the design and the professional woodwork.
Very well made. Impressive finishing and setup!
Thanks so much for this. It makes more sense to me to have the kitchen stuff near the slider, as well as on the opposite side of the van from the driver for a slightly better weight distribution too. I am glad to see this, since I have a gutted interior so have opportunity to try this.
I absolutely admire the craftsmanship. I want your setup so bad. 👍👍👍
Noticed you prefer being standing outside, you also mention that the last place you want to be is inside cooking.

Great vans.
That is a cool kitchen setup.
k
excellent presentation and related set-up
perhaps other van details to follow...
thanks
Nice set up - I saw the first version, which was good too, but I see how this works better. Nice finishing on the boxes.
it appears your layout includes a rail component for expanded sleeping
the multi-surfaces, cabinet design and
craftsmanship is clearly evident
very elegant and well thought out!
you have mad wood working skills! I really like the styling of those cabinets...well done!
Please show the entire car!!!! Love your Vids, keep it up!
This is great! I like everything about this video. Thanks for showing us your kitchen. Happy travels!
a really cool reinvented van, cheerio
Would love to see a full tour of your T3
Pato Baumann Yes, this would be great!!!
So neat and perfect need a tour too luv it
AWESOME, i would put some type of fold down telescopic legs on the 2 ends of that cutting board, i can see with lots of use it will weaken some due to force down cutting, just an idea.
But i LOVE it, especially the wash hose.....AWESOME.
Thanks! I doubt it will weaken though. It's quite stout and the design negates slop due to wear.
SAXMANIVAN two years in and strong as ever.
Projeto perfeito! Melhor que eu já vi no UA-cam, meu amigo vou tentar copiar aqui no Brazil estou montando uma t2
Obrigado,Abraço.
very nice build.
Could you do a video on your hot water heater and how you hook it up and vent it.
Only issue I see is the cooktop is still inside the van, and the cooking odors may stay around. One could put some kind of vent hood I suppose. I have a portable cooktop I use outside. The cabinets are quite nice!
beautiful "bulli" and nice breakfast! Greetings from Germany!
Sweet rig dude!! :)
Can you do a short video of the sleeping arrangements on the VW? Thank you.
The only mod that would do on it will be the option of be able to fill the water tank with a jerry can.
I don't see why I couldn't fill it with a jerry can. I'll do another video later on about the mechanics of it. And a bed video is coming.
Thank you.
Great video. Enjoyed it. Like your push open drawers.
would like to see how you deal with electricity for this van :) especially that water pump
Very efficient Kirk
Hahaha. Great! I loved it! Thanks to share your experience with us.
Best disinfectant for a cutting board is PURE lemon! Cut it in half and slide it all over that board, then wipe it down with a paper towel.
Very cool my friend
Nice build Sir!

Lovely! but consider getting the veggies done before the eggs! I couldn't get past the eggs cooling down while you did the rest of it!
Mate, it would be GREAT if you can make a video how you setup electricity in your van :)
LOve it given me ideas for my new interior
awesome work!!! Do you have any resources for reproducing your swing table?
Hmm... I have a few close ups on my instagram page. What I did is I purchased a rear table arm from gowesty and then brought that to my metal worker friend. First attempt was a fail, tolerances were too tight and metal on metal. Even spray painting the arm made it completely unusable.

Very cool design, very useful! Kudos!
hahaha, I love how you edit the sips of coffee to be regular speed, because we all know what's really important.
Thanks gonna get that swing table, that's nice.
cndvd it's a rear table swing arm from gowesty. Had to have a friend fabricate the mounts for it.
Nice work!

Your a genius Kirt....love your design elements...what about inclement weather though?
See my other video on cooking indoors. ;-)
Very neat, excellent !
H iIand thanks for a great video! I love the set up for that cutting board. I have a hard time hearing where you got it from. Could you please tell me where I might find it?
Good job man
sweet setup ... very clean
First, nice table, the pendant to the original Lagun Cockpit Table. Second, I would have cooked outside and preped the meal inside...
Hej! Nice setup and we are inspired of your box in the door withe the kitchen and table. Have you a sketch of this for us? Kind regards from Sweden Andre
66° Latitude North I have some drawings on graph paper. I'll do another video on the inside soon.
Kirt Fitzpatrick ok can I get a copy of theme?
I might be able to do something along those lines.
Awesome man!!!
Have you considered making your kitchen plans available? I've got a Weekender that I've been looking to put a similar kitchen into but have never seen anything quite as nice as your setup!
Harpo Crat I haven't. My plans are just basic drawings on graph paper.
Do you have chef experience? Nice job!!
Love it, well designed, very useable for tin tops, thinking of doing something similar. Have you changed it, in any way since this video?
I made the sink lower and replaced the fridge with a Dometic CFF 45. Switched the hose back to the blue self coiling variety like my original red kitchen. You can find a video of that old kitchen further back in my channel. I also added a ceiling fan and some other bits and bobs. Look on my instagram. @tintopcamper

The bed is 40" x 72" with 24" of additional length into the driver's seat for the very tall. The bed could be made wider but this is what I have.
Frederick, I recently made another video about the bed.
I noticed that you don't have the rock and roll bed. Can you post a video on how yours works? Thanks.
this is so good!
Hi Kirt. I love your doorway v.2 kitchen set-up. I'm in process of designing one for my 1990 base model tin-top. I was curious where you externally vented the the hw heater?
forget previous comment Kirt .... i found the answer to my question in another one of your videos.
I liked the set up you made simple and easy access though , where did you get the rack roof bracket from ?
yakima
@@KirtFitzpatrick Thank you .
What's your tankless hot water setup? I could use the same for my rig!
How do you power that high pressure spreyer?
Flojet water pump. Same pump as my previous kitchen in my other video.
Отличный автобус!
great video, come to brazil
Awesome this is what I want to do, very nicely edited video. Do you think it'd be feasible to mount the stove on a swinging table like that? Don't know if it would be too heavy!
Tom Carter anything can be done. With my centrally located propane setup it would be a pain in the butt.
Very nice I like it!

Heather Garrett I ripped my AC out. Much more room. No regrets. If I need AC later I can add a modern system in the dash.
how do supply juice to the fridge?.
I have 240 Watts of solar on the roof and 176 Ah of house battery hidden behind the side bench and driver's seat.
Very nice set up. Where did you purchase your coffee grinder if I may ask? I've been looking for a small one and that looks perfect.
I think it's the Porlex JP-30
Thank you!

u just wiped that cutting board?? man its poisenous.
What do you mean by that? It's a legit cutting board sold for food use.
Cool!
So...when are you gonna sell this van to me brother?!!!

Jesus, next time cook the eggs last!
It's just my process, prep the veggies while the eggs are cooking to save time. No real rhyme or reason other than that.
