Rallarvegen - Norway's most beautiful ride? - Indoor Cycling Training

  • Rallarvegen is Norway’s most popular bike ride. It is regarded by many to be the most spectacular bike ride in Norway. The route follows the railway and is named after the construction workers building the railway. The total length is 82 km / 51 miles. This ride follows the most popular segment of Rallarvegen (Navvies road), which starts at the train station in the beautifully located town of Flåm. From here you move up the valley along the railway and the river. Along the way, there are many spectacular waterfalls and the scenery is simply jaw-dropping. Two-thirds into the ride, you cross a river and get to a very popular goat farm serving goat’s cheese and sausages. This is a good place to stop and enjoy the local food. If you have a good grip on your bike and strong legs, then you can continue up the notorious Myrdal turns. The Myrdal turns is a set of very steep hairpins. The average gradient of 17.4 percent is just one factor that makes this segment difficult. What is making this climb almost impossible is the surface that consists of loose gravel. So there is a reason most cyclists take the train up and ride down. As you complete the hair-pins, you continue your ride up to your final destination Myrdal train station.
You can find the route on Strava: / strava
Take your indoor cycling to the next level with our indoor cycling app Open Road:
Dive into an immersive indoor cycling experience with our training app ’Open Road’ for Windows. The app lets you ride the ride for real and provides a better and more realistic indoor cycling experience compared to our ride-along videos on UA-cam. The app is compatible with all ANT+ cycling devices, including smart trainers, power meters, and speed sensors. Athletes with spinning and exercise bikes without ANT+ compatibility can control the speed manually and enjoy riding with all the important cycling data displayed during the training session.

Most cyclists would agree that the ride to Col du Tourmalet is outstanding. But with music, opinions are very mixed. So we have added no music. Instead, we recommend adding your favorite music to the ride. It is quite simple. Mute UA-cam and open a browser window. Find a site that offers music (Spotify, UA-cam, etc…) and pick the music you like, and enjoy the ride...

Kind of a funny question since we watched this and were swearing because you just couldnt stop and take a look at their beauty - you just kept on going.... going.... going... like somekind of a machine. It was interesting to see how you just went on and even children and animals had to be aware of your going or there would be an accident. Hm. Nice scenery but filmed with a camera only looking directly ahead and never stopped to see the beautiful details. So there is room for improvement but thanks anyway.

Hey there, I just came across an exciting new project called the freebeat Morph 2-in-1 eBike. It's a game-changer for cycling enthusiasts like us! One of the most outstanding features is that it can be charged indoors, which means you can power it up while enjoying an exhilarating indoor cycling experience. Plus, with its powerful motor and durable tires, I can imagine effortlessly conquering all kinds of terrains, including the stunning Rallarvegen in Norway. I can only imagine how many breathtaking waterfalls there must be along that fantastic ride. Count me in for an adventure with freebeat Morph eBike!

Hi Jin, It is really fantastic. We could not do more of the route because of snow, but i hope we can get back, so we can share the rest of the route. New Zealand has some pretty awesome rides too...

Did you hit the only day without rain? 😁

It rains a lot in Norway, so timing when to film these videos is very difficult.

How do you find these rides? I'd love to find similarly beautiful routes with less climbing.

Lot's of research is being done to selet the best rides. The climbing on this ride is not to bad if you stop at the goat farm.

I thought I'd spot a couple gnomes hidden in the forest?

Beautiful scenery but video too fast, not relaxing at all, I let you go ahead before it ended.

might be popular but I just wasted 10 minutes watching a boring ride--no doubt there are a LOT better and scenic rights

No worries Drew, We would love to learn of more scenic rides not already on our channel, so we can share them with others.

I had to stop watching, you almost hit a kid and a puppy, what the heck is wrong with you, COURTESY, look up the word, it will make you human.

Thank you for your concern. Using a wide-angle lens makes everything look like it is closer than it really is. As everybody can see I did lower the speed and almost stopped. But was able to navigate securely.
