We did haugestol to myrdal in june.Found out it was a still a bit early in the year....After Finse we had to walk through the snow for approx 25 km with the bikes. Had to use the old railwaytrack and tunnels to find our way. From Hallingskeid we could use the rallervegen again. A beautiful trip to remember...
What a nice full video, with my wife we did it between Finse and Flam on August, and was the most beautifull experience we had. Not such that nice day that you have, but also amazing. the bad weather gave it a special seasoning. our next goal is to do it again but with the whole family, and maybe spend a few days in a hytte. Unfortunately the section Finse (km 302,31) to Høgkeller (km 318,57) of the Bergensbanen via Taugevand (1301,0 m) is completely abandoned but the track is existing there completely up to this day. During the summer this would be a special tourist attraction comparable to Myrdal - Flåm.
That is so true. The Rallar museum at Finse used to arrange Rail biking on dresins but Ulvik municipality desided it disturbed the "wild" reindeer (bollocks in my opinion) so they had to shut it down sadly.

Blev irriterad av att se hur lätt det gick för dig före jag förstod att du hade elcykel. En fantastisk tur hur som helst. Tack för att du la upp videon :)
Hadde jeg hatt vanlig sykkel uten elmotor hadde jeg brukt 3-4 døgn hvertfall 🙈😅 Maks flaks med været hadde jeg og med svak medvind i ryggen helt til Fagernut 😄
Looks like the winter thaw has taken its toll in some parts. Needs some TLC. Interesting that from the top the surface is rolled by passing car/van/small truck tyres but they look to miss out the hairpins on the way to Flam. Another road/track?
Cars are not allowed to drive the hairpins called "Myrdalssvingenge" so they have to drive the long way from Haugastøl to get to Vatnahalsen. Keep in mind that only vehicles including motorcycles with special permission, usually maintenance crew and cabinowners, are allowed to drive on Rallarvegen. Bikes and Ebikes need no permission.
@@frodehagTakk, kjekt at du øikte den 😊 Sykkelen er en første generasjon Momas Jason og har et 504Wh batteri. Jeg var veldig heldig med vær og spesielt vind. Fra Haugastøl til Finse hadde jeg fin trekk fra øst som gav et lite puff i ryggen og jeg syklet mye av flatene uten motor. Of etter Grjotrust er det for det meste nedover. Da jeg landet i Flåm hadde jeg ca 50-60% igjen på batteriet. 😊

Hi 👋 I'm using a GoPro Hero 10 Black set at 4k 30, superview, normal stablisation mounted directly to the handlebar. Batterybank for extended power. For GPS overlay I'm using a program called Telemetry Overlay to render the data as a see through video that I use as a overlay in Premiere Pro. Looking forward to next summer here also ;)

And SDcard of how many GB it took, also have to change that at the settings you used? I watched the whole video as a mini series in 4 days, 1,10hrs every day. Incredible ride with 72km gravel/stones.
@Rob-vp1qr I used a 10 000 mAh batterybank and connected it to the usb chargingport. You can set the settings you prefer, just play around and see what you like, but keep in mind that the hero 10 and 11 tends to overheat if you record with high bitrate so I set it to normal bitrate.
Planning to ride the Rallarvegen mid august 2024 on an e-bike too from Haugestøl to Flåm Renting it there How long do you have to ride? I read stories of 6-8 hours but that seems to long on an e-bike. And is it necessary to charge the bike somewhere? We are staying Myrkdalen than, will be a 2 hr cardrive to Haugestøl? Hello 👋 I spent approx 6 hours on this ride. I would have spent more time having more breaks taking in the views and taking photos but my wife who dropped me off at Haugastøl drove to Flåm and waited for me there so I had to be effective so she wouldn't have to wait for too long. I did not have to charge, but I was lucky with low winds and the little wind I got hit me in the back giving me a gentle push if any. you start at 1000 meters and climb to approx 1440 and from there it's all downhill with a couple of short exeptions. A drive from Myrkdalen to Haugastøl takes about 2,5 hours. Good luck 😊

Late august/early september is the best time for hiking and biking if you wanna avoid snow at these elevations in south Norway ;)

That is one crazy road. 50 miles in four hours an 41 minutes, that's almost 12 mph. ...and treacherous road, life threatening.
